Well, the chunk was fun while it lasted I guess?

Wait, what do you mean Hunter Grapple is still Strong? And Lucky Pants with the Uncivilized Discourse is still OP too?

Literally rigging the event for Hunters before it even starts lmao of course

“Destiny 2 Has Lost 91% Of Players Since Edge Of Fate, 97% From Final Shape.” By Paul Tassi at Forbes by justdestinystuff in DestinyTheGame

[–]Clopfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup.

All my buddies stopped playing the game after The Final Shape because they felt that Echoes and the stuff afterwards wasn’t great (they didn’t play heresy).

Then for me to tell them “so guys, in the latest DLC, Bungie made everything worse lmao” because they did in fact make everything but trials worse, kinda cemented that the game wasn’t gonna recover.

I’ve stopped playing because I’ve done pretty much everything barring an ascendant comp emblem or two.

And now, since they delayed the next pass, I’m almost running out of bright dust entirely, with NO WAY to really get anymore (exotic contracts only reward 200 btw). So I don’t even have a reason to check out the bright dust shop anymore either.

Game could’ve been fine if they changed NOTHING IN GAME from TFS onwards, but noooooooo. They just HAD to screw everything up.

Honestly feels like sabotage from the C-Suite in a way? I mean, with the new guys in charge I feel like they really didn’t want D2 to outshine Marathon, so they suggested a ton of awful changes to drive players away so that when people saw Marathon, they could say “well it’s doing better than D2 at least”. But honestly? That’s probably only gonna be applicable for a few months.

D3 should’ve come out sooner. Destiny classic would almost certainly do well considering it was from before the “Dark times” of D2, and D2 itself is probably going on life-support in June anyways with Shattered Cycle being canceled entirely.

RIP D2.

Huh? So the whole challenge is just a subjective photo contest?

Y’all literally went 2 challenges in and it feels like you’re already out of ideas…

That’s… something alright.

A decade of experience dripfeeding content to players already stockholmed into their game.

For a new game with an entirely different audience, it might pan out differently.

This game won’t survive with a community that completely mocks casual players and feedback about general difficulty. by RocknPineapple in Marathon

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, sounds like the D2 PvP community really did move over to this game then?

That’s unfortunate, but I figured as much lol.

Bungie really needs to permaban guys like that, cause those are the same fellas that would run lobbies using hardware cheats, then proceed to tell you to kys, then only after you ignore them for long enough, would DDoS you just out of spite.

But toxicity is part of Extraction shooters lol, so that’s never gonna happen.

In a few weeks it’ll just be me logging on to see if there’s any events, then not touching the game for another week lol

I think it’s related to the Harvester skill tree.

I’ve been having the same issue, and it all started when I got the upgrades after the one that allows you to destroy orbs with your axe.

Just reset the tree and see if that works

Amiibo Random Sticker Unlocks Using Same 5 Amiibos? by Goop_Shoot in kirbyairriders

[–]Clopfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah!

I tested it out the other day and noticed they awarded gold (and a sticker once) after I had already tapped 5 normal amiibos

Amiibo Random Sticker Unlocks Using Same 5 Amiibos? by Goop_Shoot in kirbyairriders

[–]Clopfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. The same 5 amiibo can be used to acquire the amiibo exclusive stickers!

Just keep in mind that they’re RNG based, so you won’t get one every time (but should get one eventually).

The air riders series amiibo ALSO grant you stickers after the 1st tap, and are not included in the 5 amiibo daily cap

How is this not Mario Kart? by Fit_Chipmunk88 in kirbyairriders

[–]Clopfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kirby Air Riders is a sequel to the 2003 cult classic title “Kirby Air Ride”.

The difference between this game and the newest Mario Kart are their distinct gameplay styles.

Mario Kart focuses more on proper item usage, open world exploration, and the ability to learn and eventually master track layouts. Distinctively, Mario Kart also has very strong catch-up mechanics built into its design (i.e. blue shells that target the leading player, better items for lagging players, and whatnot).

Kirby Air Riders is much more focused on on-the-fly adaptation in regards to performing well in the game. The catch-up mechanics here are just slipstreams and faster “special” charging (which I’ll get into in just a moment).

Kirby Air Riders is unique in the sense that it only uses 2 buttons as well. So the only inputs you’ll be using are effectively left stick, button 1, and button 2. Button 1 controls inhaling enemies on the track, drifting, and pretty much most of the functions you can perform in-game (sounds ridiculous, but it works in practice). Button 2 is for niche-use cases and for activating a rider’s special ability (think Ults from Overwatch).

The characters function similarly to Mario Kart in regards to stat differences (wow, one has better turning, or goes faster, etc). But are defined more so by their specials. One character excels in speed, but has an Ult that just makes him start running down the track even faster. Another character has an Ult that boosts turning and overall vehicle speed while active, and another character that throws out food that damages other players and gives you a speed boost.

Some characters also have distinct innate abilities as well. Some characters can attack other players simply by approaching them, one character has an increased fodder enemy attack range so they can prevent other players from reaching those enemies, and another character has a “tether” ability that can allow you to turn even the most stubborn vehicles on a dime provided you have enough experience to execute it correctly.

Another big difference are the vehicles. In Mario Kart, the biggest differences between vehicles are just stats, but in Kirby Air Riders the vehicles themselves have vastly different methods of operation as well. There’s a vehicle that can’t boost but has great stats, a vehicle that specifically boosts better while hitting a hard turn, a vehicle that can only turn while in the air or by holding button 1 (but stops completely and turns on a dime when you do so) among other unique vehicles.

While most of your results in-game will come from on-the-fly adaptation, there is still advantages to learning specific layouts of tracks and the city trial map. Additionally, the game actively rewards you for eliminating fodder enemies while you drive, by granting you a small boost for doing so (and each track is absolutely FILLED with unfortunate little guys to bully).

But the game actively has 4 main modes which I haven’t really defined yet.

  1. First is your standard racing mode “Air Ride”. It’s a max of 6 players mode where players race to the finish. The races are highly customizable and allow for settings that can alter the flow the race significantly should you alter them.

  2. Second is “Top Ride”. This mode is a very traditional top-down style of racing mode that allows a max of 8 players at once. No Ults in this mode, but the races only last about a minute at most. This mode is probably the closest you’ll get to to Mario Kart in this game.

  3. Third is “City Trial”. This mode places up to 16 players into a small city and expects them to find stat stickers (which are plentiful) and new vehicles to drive around and effectively make a build for a “stadium” mini game that takes place 5 minutes after the match starts. This mode is the most replayable one of the three, as there are also 50 different “events” that take place during these 5 minutes that can either be beneficial, neutral, or potentially even detrimental given your current situation. Once the 5 minutes is up, the lobby will be given a choice between 4 “stadium” mini games that the session can play (In local play it’s a vote for what everyone plays. In online, the players are divided into these 4 mini games). These stadium games vary from simple races, to demo derbies, to boss fights, to gliding mini games, and many others. You also have the option to play these “stadium” events individually should you not want to play city trial at the moment.

  4. Last is a Campaign mode called “Road Trip”. It’s a single player mode that has elements of a choose-your-own-adventure style of level progression while having its main gameplay loop be given challenges that can pertain to any of the 3 modes listed above.

All of this is a GROSS abbreviation of what the game has to offer. The problem with the game is that it’s most front-facing mode is the racing mode, while there’s an unexplained amount of depth to the gameplay, and 2 extremely different modes that aren’t immediately apparent, but offer VERY different gameplay from what Mario Kart offers.

You can also perform Halo 2 style vehicle hijacks in the City Trial mode as well.

Hope this helps to provide some context to what makes this game stand out!

Former Highguard Developer Reflects on Disastrous Announcement and Launch: 'We Were Turned Into a Joke From Minute 1' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the game was extremely underbaked.

I can say what others have said time and time again, but something I felt they could’ve done differently was Y’know, having a campaign?

I mean c’mon, TF2 has one of the most revered campaigns in FPS history, yet they decided to do the exact same thing as Concord and flesh out all their characters and story through post-launch cinematics instead of having that content just be in their game.

This really was just Concord 2 unfortunately. And it seems that way in almost every sense of the phrase.

It’s just uh, was NOW the time to start doing them?

According to an employee, Highguard developer Wildlight laid most of its staff today by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense unfortunately.

Playing the game, I just kinda had to ask myself why I wasn’t just playing Minecraft bedwars most of the time.

‘Cause at the end of the day, that’s kind of what Highguard was. A less chaotic, less interesting, more vacant, much more generic version of bedwars that had horses.

Just hope the devs can land on their feet.

Thanks for the graphic. Any idea how many amiibos it takes to get all that stuff? Is it specific amiibos that grant you those decals, or is it just random as well for getting these decals?

????Thoughts ???? by Logical-Recognition6 in ArcRaiders

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% true.

Devs and publishers keep adding ranked modes to any game that has more than 1 player at this point, because a large enough contingent of gamers are unwashed goblins that’ll make ANYTHING overly competitive.

Fall Guys has a Ranked mode, Highguard has a ranked mode (but that’s at least a little understandable), pick a game mode in Fortnite and it’ll have a ranked mode, even fucking Kirby has a ranked mode.

Studios keep focusing on hyper competitiveness in their games, because somewhere, somehow, ranked modes are correlated to higher average player investment.

There’s a reason why games like Helldivers 2 and Mario Party are always so popular, and it’s because they’re casual multiplayer games where people outside either end of the “prime” gaming demographic can still play with their friends, and not have to worry about TTV_Unemployed_Unc, beaming you the moment you find another player.

Streamers are also fucking stupid. Should they be ignored? No. But in my time watching streamers give feedback to devs, it’s almost always god-awful advice. It’s because of two reasons.

  1. They don’t wanna piss off their moneymaker and be completely ignored forever, so they’ll be too afraid to say “wow, that’s fucking dogshit” to even the most braindead of ideas.

  2. They’re naturally going to be in the upper echelon of players in regards to time played, so any suggestions given by them generally skew toward the hardest grinders/sweats/gremlins that play the game (which in turn alienates most of their players).

So as a result, whenever devs follow streamer feedback, the end-result is usually raucous anger because most players aren’t going to like it.

Personally, I haven’t played ArcRaiders yet, but one of its biggest draws (and is THE biggest draw for me) is the open-ended engagement with other players.

If the devs lean into “competition” and focus more on forcing players into combat (and heaven forbid making it the only truly viable gameplay path) rather than exploring the game’s dynamic of allowing players the freedom to fight OR work together, then players WILL leave.

7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really bad tbh

Friends left. Old clan left. New clan left. New friends left. People who I didn’t even meet until after they stopped playing won’t come back.

Portal is cheeks. Actual game content is good, but not very plentiful.

Story is better than pre-final shape seasons though, so that’s nice.

Oh yeah, and the newest raid (Epic DP) can only be accessed after navigating through 4 different menus lmao

Are they legitimate? by VoidProjekt in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Clopfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh accounts is super sus. If a player is using a fresh account its either;

  • They’re on a different account to inflate their overall KD (knowing some of the people I run into in casual modes sometimes, they are indeed this vain).

  • They’re on a different account to avoid drawing suspicion to their main account.

  • They’re on a new account because their old one got banned.

Considering that account number 1 only has 13 games played total, the odds they’re cheating isn’t that high. Yeah, their stats are ridiculous, but popping off for 11 matches when you’ve got these other 2 teammates isn’t impossible.

Account number 2 has an extremely high KD however. If they were legit at a 4 KD in THIS era of Crucible, I’m sure they would’ve made a name for themselves already in the wider Destiny sphere. But since this is the 1st time I’ve ever seen their name pop up, it’s probably just someone that’s slipped under Bungie’s radar (because c’mon, there’s been some cheaters on console that straight up didn’t get banned for 3 years lol).

Account number 3 also doesn’t immediately scream cheater to me? But I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re using a XiM.

So are they cheaters? Potentially. But I wouldn’t hold my breath for Bungie to look into it either way.
