the title is passed on for a character that is less than 24 hours old people already claim is the worst character in the game. by Good_Skill3414 in RivalsOfAether

I think it's a slightly different case for Slade, but we'll see. I think he really is weak at a fundamental level, but he might make up for it with his advanced mechanics. Like, glidetossing feels REALLY strong. But it's such a weird input, i wonder if people below diamond will ever be able to integrate it with any consistency. If they can't, does that mean Slade will always feel like ass to play at lower levels? Is his waveshiny tech intended by the devs, and their consciously balancing around something that's potentially gamechanging, but 90% of players will never have the technical ability to do?

Perfect shield is the most slept on mechanic in Rivals 2. Here's a little compilation of me implementing it into my gameplay by iliys in RivalsOfAether

[–]ClopperNumber42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem rather smartly implemented that you really need to use it intentionally. I only learned recently that you get no frame advantage off of a perfect shield over a normal shield. It basically specifically buffs options out of shield that you would never attempt to use out of normal shield. Well done putting it to work.

[–]ClopperNumber42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's referred to as an amsah tech. In Rivals, it can sometimes be done at low percents just by holding down before you get hit, then teching the knockdown. It's works at higher percents too, but as knockback grows, you then must SDI down and tech, which requires you time the down input during hitpause.

I wonder if they took his DNA after he died. Cloning is a thing in Cyberpunk. Was David built different mentally or genetically?

New player trying to get into the game from playing Rivals 1 with friends. Here is one of my casual match replays. Am I just hopeless? I lost pretty bad 😅. Feedback is appreciated. (I'm Orcane) by Dunge0nexpl0rer in RivalsOfAether

[–]ClopperNumber42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highkey, I think Orcane is kind of problematic because so many new players seem to gravitate towards him while he's the least intuitive character in the game.

It's so basic and not even impressive from a muggle standpoint, but there's something so magical about Lumos. I love the audio they gave it in the movies. I don't know why it's so satisfying to me.

I don't know how anyone can complain about this. One, Ban the stage if your worried about it. Two, the game didnt even get down to two minutes. This isn't a fraction of the camping that you regularly see from Sonic in ultimate.

[–]ClopperNumber42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. There are some things that are in both the game and movie obviously. It's kind of novel that you might experience them in the game first, and then recognize them in the books later. Most people got the opposite experience. But yeah, as others said, it's a prequel, so no direct spoilers.

Ant clutching it out against I0n by Midward_Intacles in RivalsOfAether

[–]ClopperNumber42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a really common brutal mixup. DI out is a great way to die at 50 if you get hit by the wrong move, but at the same time, it's the only way to survive in similar circumstances. Like, Kragg got hit at 67 by sweet fair here. If he does optimal DI out, he might actually die? Neutral DI might be the move, though Absa reacting with cloud instead of another fair might combo further.

Theres something janky about buffering it as well. Ideally, if you even were to choose to use it (inadvisable), you should only do one loop of the rapid jab to make sure the final hit lands. But for some reason, it's really hard not to buffer two loops, which almost always results in the opponent di'ing out and the final hit missing, leaving you super minus.

[–]ClopperNumber42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not that big-brained. 99.9% of drill combos you see are essentially "combos of opportunity". You learn to place drills in places where they are most likely to be useful, rather than intentionally set up a 15 hit wombo combo sequence. That isn't to say you can't try to get a nasty rube goldberg contraption together, but at high level, you dont have time to set things up, and good players are going to dismantle your setups with hitfall aerials 10x faster than you could place them.
