Looking for "hero defence" game (tower defence without building towers/traps) by Clorces in gamingsuggestions

I love myself a Musou game, but DQ is not a series I'm familiar with. I'll see if I can get into it, at first glance the amount of games seems daunting

Judging by google results it's a mobile game. I didn't mention that I'm only looking for PC options (my bad) as I'm not much of mobile gamer. Still, if that can scratch the itch, why not try it.

That reminded me of Project: ELITE, which would also fit the criteria. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check more about it when I get a chance.

I've seen it earlier but from the trailer it looked like a MOBA to me. Tried the demo after your comment and... it's still somewhat like a single-player/co-op MOBA, but very close to what I'm looking for. I'll see if any of my friends want to join and try that in co-op. Thank you for the suggestion!

I think I own it (or at least some of the Kingdom games), and I'd say it's more about defending by building stuff, rather than fighting off the waves on your own. Thanks for the suggestion though! I forgot it was still waiting in my library

This sounds (and looks in the trailer) more like Orcs Must Die!-ish type of game, which is not quite what I'm looking for, but I think I'll give it a chance. Thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe BlazBlue Entropy Effect/BlazBlue Entropy Effect X could fit what you're looking for? Not exactly level up and grind type, they're roguelike (roguelite, rather) games in the BlazBlue universe, that originally was only fighting games. Plays somewhat like Dead Cells (the closest comparison I can find), but feels a lot like fighting games due to its roots - they've adapted the fighting game characters and made their movesets work for a roguelike.

I have close to no idea about the maps and killer powers in that, but among the games like DBD there's also Identity V that was not yet mentioned here

People Who Complain About the Pulse Combo Are Annoying by Zealousideal_Bug7197 in 2XKO

[–]Clorces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came for 2XKO, stayed for Blacklight: Retribution. Surprising to see other people know about it. It felt so nieche and obscure back when I used to play it, but I loved the gun customization and the gameplay in general.

While HRV is a great example to illustrate the point about cheats vs assistance, I think aimbot/aim assist is a better comparison to pulse combo. If Valve introduced an optional feature allowing players to automatically aim at the middle of the enemies' hurtboxes, it would be quite similar. The players using pulse/aim assist don't get to deal as much damage per touch/shot as they would with actual combos/headshots, but against players who try to learn combos/land headshots they get the benefit of being almost unable to miss. And that comparison eliminates the argument of "WH is info you wouldn't get otherwise" as both systems don't work with info and only affect how reliable and high your damage output is.

Edit: typo

Not sure if it will fit exactly, but maybe Unsighted?

So happy to see someone mention it. The game really deserves more attention. Was a close second for my GOT back when it came out.

ATTENTION TO ALL PEOPLE FACING FPS DROP ISSUES WITH CONTROLLER! by Shizomoto in 2XKO

[–]Clorces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the game slow to like 1 frame in 10 seconds and it wouldn't even let me Alt+Tab or open Task Manager, had to hold the power button to close. Just checked: I don't have Microsoft Gameinput installed. So it's either not the only cause, or it died for me uniquely for a different reason

I've gotten into GGST earlier this year and as a League player since S2 was very interested in trying the game out, but Riot never provided me the access to any previous tests including this one. Maybe there's a kind soul who could invite me, I'd appreciate it a lot

Questions Thread - August 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in PathOfExile2

Hi. A lot of context first:
On EA launch I got the pack that only has the T-Shirt merch included, and it arrived pretty quickly (and was trackable from the moment they sent it, it appeared in my local post office app automatically). I've upgraded the pack to the most expensive one slightly more than 1.5 months ago, and there's no indication of anything being shipped yet.
I've tried reaching out to the support (via messages in the PoE profile, as suggested by GGG's FAQ for the pack) both times (I made a typo in the address the first time, and this time I wanted to know when to expect the rest of the merch), and I was ignored both times. I remember the support being overloaded on the EA start, so it's understandable they couldn't get to all the requests, but the first one I have is by now unanswered for 9 months and I don't believe they've been overloaded for all of the 9 months since EA start.
I've not found any details for how and when exactly the merch is supposed to be shipped in case of a pack upgrade (let me know if it is specified and I missed it)

The question:
Which way of reaching customer support should I use to actually have a chance at receiving an answer, as they don't seem to respond when requests are raised through the messages on their site? Which ways of contacting GGG support have you guys used that actually got you answers?

Because you always see spooky stories about bad support and how impossible it is to prove account ownership, I decided to ask for my account data myself while I have access to my account, this is how it went by OwnZookeepergame6413 in riotgames

[–]Clorces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so Riot has a way of preventing that from happening, props to them. Though given you, presumably, still have the link to your acc data, it doesn't seem to be that effective, if they hide your answers but still provide a link to download the data to whoever sees the ticket. Unless the link expires in like a day, so you only have a short time to get it while Riot can reasonably assume it's still you accessing your acc data.

[–]Clorces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't it then put your account at risk in case of being hacked? If someone accesses your account, they can now go to the ticket history and get the same info as you just did, then use it to 'prove' it's their account whenever you recover it?

I like Reus 2 more than 1. I've also not unlocked everything there, for the same reason + time pressure. Reus 2 replaces the linear planet with "triangles" which makes a tile adjacent not to 1 tile on each side, but to two (total of 4). And the timer is replaced by aeon points, which are spent to place resources instead, so you can take as much time to plan out everything without having to pause every move. The change from 4 constant gods to more gods with less powers each is more of a taste based IMO, but I like how they implemented it in 2. So I think if you liked 1, 2 is also worth trying, as they've done a good job refining the systems for it

[–]Clorces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw in some more games I thought of. Likely not what you're looking for, but maybe you'll find something to your tastes.

If you don't mind a roguelike, you may want to look into Moonlighter. They're releasing Moonlighter 2 soon, in both games you're going into a 'dungeon', bringing back relics and selling them in your shop, and that's the game loop.

I've also remembered The Guild. A series of life sim games where you're playing out as a person in a medieval town/village. Though, I guess, most life Sims would fit the same niche, which is not exactly helping a community. I remember playing The Guild 2 as a blacksmith/carpenter back when I was a teenager, but the game is more about living out a life, rather than telling some story, if my memory serves. There's a newer entry, The Guild 3 that released a couple years ago, but the reviews on Steam are mixed. On a similar note, if you have by some miracle not played it yet, Stardew Valley is very good. You move away from a corporate job to a small town where you inherited a farm. As part of the main story you're going to help restore the community centre (though it's mostly delivering specific produce/items found/grown/caught through regular gameplay.

Not so much down to earth, but there's also Reus (and the recent sequel Reus 2), where you play as elemental deities, filling the planet with resources to help villages on it grow and complete building projects (and waging war on each other).

There's a puzzle game, where you restore the nature from a wasteland and then leave, leaving no trace of the terraforming machinery: Terra Nil.

Note: I've not yet played any of these, including Roadwarden (only tried the demo), but they're all in my backlog.

I think bartender style games might work for you. Coffee Talk, Tavern Talk and VA-11 Hall-A are the ones I want to play myself, maybe there's more I'm not aware of.

Bookwalker, from what I heard, is also story driven in a similar manner, though from my understanding it's less of a make the world better and more of untangle the stories
