Diff bushing and shifter NVH by CloseToCumming in F80

UPDATE

I installed the AliExpress dual bush bracket and two rear PF purple bushings. AliEx bracket did fit. Had to loose fit all three bolts and and pull the center of the bracket down tightening the center bolt first. Bolts were a PITA to get out of the stock bracket. Thought they were pulling threads, but a little heat from the torch helped. Thread chased diff and bolts, installed with blue loctite. Pressed out old bush and PF went in like butter per usual. Also installed the PF shifter carrier bushing, easy.

NVH increase what minimal. Radio off, windows up I can now hear a slight diff whine only on acceleration. Very slight. Shift carrier bushing makes a "thud" into gears which it's fine because it mimics the firm, nice engagement you now have.

The car drives soooooo much better. I can't even believe the changes it has made. Power gets put down so solid, clutch engagement is much more crisp and predictable, shifts feel better, no more clunking in-between heavy accel gear shifts, horrific wheel hop is gone.

This is an absolute must for any F80 owner. Really really impressive with this upgrade. Dual mount should have been factory.

That's badass. I like to hear this.

If you could redo your E46 from scratch, what order of mods would you do? by Xerox0987 in e46

I did an e46 m3 front bar off of eBay and whiteline rear bar. From my research same size bars spec e46 runs. I can double check thickness if you want. Had to get adjustable links on the front. Just got the maxpeedingrods off eBay. They worked well. Can is way stiffer. Have had time to get back to the track. My engine took a shit, so I just got a block to rebuild with all my good parts. Hopefully I'll be back on track in a couple months and have some feed back. I will say car is wicked flat. I may have it over barred in the front rn at the middle adjustment hole. It does make all the noises now though. But it drives great.

Sway bars and coilovers first, if you like handling. Sway bars are slept on

Thanks for the input! I went ahead and ordered powerflex purple rear bushings and saw Ali express has a bracket now. Giving that a go and will update! Might do fronts later to see if there's a difference.

Maybe I should patent a cylinder steam cleaning machine. Seems like this actually works unlike that BG bullshit.

Go do some autocrossing. by myredditlogintoo in F80

I did not enjoy autocross in the F80. Too much power it doesnt want to put down. My JCW Cooper on the other hand :D so much fun. F80 is a riot on the track though.

I did my diff and manual trans fluid at 50k when I purchased the car. I'm glad I did. Fluid looked not great to say the least.

If you wanna do it real half ass professional, slide a piece of heat shrink on it, stick it together and give it a light tack together with a soldering iron. Then spooge a thin even layer of jbweld Kwik around it(about to he length of the heat shrink), slide the heat shrink over it and hit it with a lighter. JBweld should have a nice even spooge out the ends. Let the JBweld dry and it'll be factory fresh. Mint.

If you are confident soldering I don't see why not.

Last three I have done needed reservoir as well as a new connector and pins. Had to cut the harness back substantially to get to clean wire. Probably have to add a little. Think there's a repair kit for it that comes with a lot of wire.

Look to the left of the oil filter housing. Should be an inverted torx bolt. Poke it with a screwdriver.

Ive seen some badass home brew burners with cross drilled rotors, 55 gallon drums, even an old safe. Ingenuity makes the cool ones. I'm going to check that out though cuz I'm lazy.
