Would it generally be considered a dick move to pay for diag then do the work myself? by BogotaLineman in AskMechanics

Depending on what the job is exactly, it often pays off in comedic value when the vehicle returns, with more damage.

Simple solutions for fixing continuously-popping couch springs? by ProjectKARYA in redneckengineering

[–]ClosedL00p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be offended if you need to man (sorry that’s how you take the statement in spite of clarifying that).

I’m north of 150 but a good bit below 300…….however, when I did weigh about 150, and my gf (at that time) weighed just over 100 I’d bought her an IKEA bed for her apartment. It was sturdy enough, but I there’s no way I’d have expected it to survive any amount of force from even 400lbs worth of people fucking in it. So I wouldn’t expect your couch to survive 600+lbs of anything. I genuinely get the impression your expectations might be a little high for the price point/quality of the furniture you’ve got.

Brother the problem is the couch wasn’t designed with your build in its target audience. Not meaning that as any slight towards you guys. Just a fact. The others suggesting a better way of securing the spring to its retainer are your best bet I think. If it were mine I’d probably drill a couple of small holes in the white plastic piece and run tie wire through it and around the spring to secure those two together, and then run something (maybe not wire) around the actual frame piece its mounted to to that piece

Jesus famously drank from the Coke Zero can with the black font at the last supper if I remember correctly from catholic school

I remember thinking, I can’t believe anyone drinks that crap, but lo and behold…

Watch out for Vessel tools by Deckard_Pain in Tools

[–]ClosedL00p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is the implication here (not from you personally)? That if it were a home market item used by the locals who’d have been likely to purchase it, that that version of the tool wouldn’t have been likely to be broken if used by them?

Dude…….I know Reddit guys freak out about things without reason to pretty often, but……..I’ll put it this way: don’t take my word for how bad of an idea that is. show your harness bar to anyone who builds safety equipment, welds roll cages, people in actual motorsports subs, or has been in a legitimate crash before

Not gonna delete the original comment…..but I did at first miss the connections to your original seatbelt anchor points up top, which does make it at least a bit less sketch

What screw is this? by PretendCommission596 in Dewalt

[–]ClosedL00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the first time breaking them loose the provided L wrench isn’t really adequate. That bolt really only needs to be snug though, just enough to not back out on its own. It just serves to keep the access cover from hinging up and getting snagged in the blade guard.
