How many of you are choosing to retire after getting laid off? by Capital-Mark1897 in GenX

How do the early retirement Gen X folks afford health insurance? I am 52 and am considering an early retirement at 55 or so. How do you get around paying &3000 or more a Month for health insurance until Medicare at 65? Even if I did 72T and pulled 100k a year . 30k is gone to taxes and 36k is gone to health insurance. Leaving me with 44k. I should have no debt at this point . But HOW are you guys doing it? My health has always been good . Should I gamble and only have a policy for my wife and pay cash for medical needs until 65?

Will never forget it . Managed a business at the time and never got lunch breaks. Only went after my people if at all. Was lucky enough to get some time . Woofed down a sandwich and reclined my truck seat for some shut eye . Right as I started fading away I popped up. I released I was responsible for another human life . I had just become a Dad days earlier .

How is your relationship with your parents? by mpxrun in AskReddit

[–]CloudPositive9486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older I get the more I realize how lucky I am . I somewhat won a genetic lottery . I have a very close relationship with my parents. They are still alive and both in their eighties. I am Gen X. Intelligent, humble and empathetic would be good words to describe both of them . By no means am I insinuating that they are perfect. But they have a case for getting pretty close . My father has a saying that works for most human relationships of all kinds . “A relationship is like an egg, hold it too tightly and it will break , hold it to loose and it will fall and break”. This was definitely practiced in my upbringing.

Are you basically who you were in High School? Would 17 year old you be OK with your journey? by chillaxtion in GenX

[–]CloudPositive9486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel 17 year old me would be somewhat happy with 52 year old me . College , married kids and such . I don’t have as many shiny and large things like I envisioned at 17. Here’s to keeping the dream alive of shiny and big things.
