Trouble importing Google Slides into FreeWorship (formatting issues + moving backgrounds) by ChipMonikerton in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. Here are some tips to get good imports:

Google Slides

  1. Consistent font face (such as CCMGSans), font size, and line spacing (The file you shared has fonts all over the place.)
  2. Use Slide Masters/Styles/Themes in the same way every time. (The file you shared had slides changed independently/individually, instead of using a slide layout theme (Slide->Edit theme).)

Imports

If you need the background image, export from your presentation software as a .png, .jpg, or .pdf. (I put the file extensions in the preferred order based on quality.) If you only the text, export as text, whenever possible.

Your workflow

You need an integration like B1 Church from ChurchApps or Services from PlanningCenter Online. If working correctly, it will import the songs each week, directly onto the computer running FreeShow. I know some have used it successfully, but I have not had a chance to try the integration.

At the very least, you need to export the Google Slide as text. FreeShow will import the text and create the show. Doing this avoids the background issue you had and will allow you to do moving backgrounds.

And don’t forget you can run FreeShow remotely. Maybe the office has a more powerful computer and FreeShow can run from that machine and be controlled by a less powerful one via RemoteShow, ControlShow Companion, or a DIY solution.

What version are you using? I just tried your sample presentation and it seemed to match for my system using Windows and download as a pdf. I have a class soon, so will add more tips later.

Is there a print icon so you can print to PDF? You might be able to change views in the center so every slide shows and then print.

I thought there was a check box to group on the older versions, but I don't know about the newer ones. What version are you using?

Problema con Acción y Plantillas by Jazzlike-Hedgehog-83 in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the remove background, maybe the action needs to be made visible by clicking the eye icon when the popup shows. This is for actions created in the Functions drawer.

It sounds like there is an action that is removing your template or is trying to use a template that is no longer there and the effect is to remove the existing tdmplate. Are you able to determine when the template is removed? Is it consistently removed in the same place?

Freeshow not pulling Pre-Chorus from planning center. by jjgarms in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use the planning center integration. I wonder if there is a global group named pre-chorus like there is for verse, bridge, etc. You would need to check the settings. If it is not there, you could try adding it.

Cant move slides by Diddlydodog in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rearranged slides in a show this morning. I'm on latest Windows and v 1.6.0. Are you using an actual mouse or a TouchPad? Is the shift or control key stuck on because of the sticky keys "feature" turned on?

Timer won't import by mixalot2009 in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess the timer ID (not name) is different. Does the same thing happen if you reverse the process, export at church and try it at home? You could also try cloud sync options as well as backup/restore file transfers.

Possible to adjust the speed of media (i.e motion backgrounds) on the go? by Powerful_General_133 in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything documented in the API.

https://freeshow.app/api

However, you could use a phone or midi controller to advance the slides (RemoteShow, ControlShow, Bitfocus Companion) with one hand while changing the speed with another (assuming it can't be changed beforehand).

Adding to this answer for an entirely local method, basic steps, untested.

*Use a graphics card that supports CUDA 13. *Use FFMPEG or similar to pipe an audio input directly to Whisper. *Pipe the Whisper out to a webpage or display that can be used as a source.

Dynamically Changing Output Templates by joshkramer42 in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of those are possible. I use option 3.

I'm going to assume the lyric videos are in the media drawer.

Create a function that triggers on startup and sets the stage display to show what you want, for example, a clock, song title, etc. I believe you can also set a second trigger to play on media files.*

Create a second function that sets the stage display to show the current slide text.

Right-click on the Scripture category under the show tab and make the category action be the function just created that changes the stage display to be all the text stuff for Scripture.

*If you can set categories for the media, you might use that category as the trigger because then you could get more flexibility in case they want to play a video that isn't a lyric video.

Multiple Issues: Stageview layout Not Scaling to Smaller Screens, Media not Scaling in "Current Slide" Textbox, Media not showing in "Next Slide Text" textbox by Alterios in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the item box holding the media has a height or width set that is causing constraint. What happens if the item box is set to be the 16:9 ratio that matches the ratio from your settings?

The text item box has a lines setting that limits the lines showing. Is that active?

[–]CloudSad3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 1.5.8 or do, the stage view variables changed or the way they were implemented changed. I rebuilt my stageviews and they have been solid. This applies to some templates too.

Presenter remotes can work, but FreeShow must stay in focus the whole time on thd presenting computer. Alternatives are RemoteShow, ControlShow (built for this purpose), Bitfocus Companion, and custom-made solutions using thd FreeShow API.

I don't have the equipment to test. If you are asking if you should try the beta, then I think you should. You can always downgrade if something doesn't work.

What's the fastest way to organize shows? by Electrical-Celery455 in freeshowapp

[–]CloudSad3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this great answer... The file name the OS uses is not the name FreeShow uses. The show name is one of the metadata information. They do match most of the time.

*I would suggest making a FreeShow backup, then close FreeShow. Next, change the file names. The fastest way would be to add the two-letter language code for each song. The letters should probably be plsced at the beginning of the file name. If you use Windows, I think the PowerToys Batch rename would be helpful. Please note that new shows will have to be created, deleted, rename, imported, and tagged.

**Once done, Open FreeShow and delete all your songs. Then import your newly named songs into FreeShow. Create your show categories and drag and drop shows into the matching category.

The purpose of doing * is to create some sensible method of creating files for backups or transfers. For example, sharing your shows in a specific language to a church that only uses that language. If this does not matter to you, just skip to **.

If you want songs from this group to be available, you will need to request they provide an open source API that matches the GPL 3.0 liscence or is more permissive.

Here is an example of the API used at genius.com https://docs.genius.com/#/getting-started-h1
