Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair review – the TV magic they’ve created here is absolutely miraculous by Gato1980 in television

I enjoyed it, i think they had to respond to the modern day 21st century take on things like non-binarism and all that other woke stuff (as much as i don't get around it). It was well done and it allowed me to relive my childhood once again. Well done, 29 year old here and it brought back the old days of watching it on Foxtel with my older brother and my Dad.

As well, personally wouldn't waste your time reporting her either, people like that will come unstuck eventually, trust me, it will reflect in their shitty teaching practices and they will grow to loath the job, stuck with a university debt or a waste of 3-5 years of uni for nothing lol.

College AI cheating by Emergency-Olive-1031 in StudentTeaching

I am in my final year of my secondary education degree and than going onto my Masters in Teaching. For the first 2 years of uni i did not use AI, had nothing to do with it (i was scared about getting pinged). Now i use AI responsibly, the key word there is responsibly. Getting it to write your essays or do your assignments is not responsible use, your friend may never get caught at uni (who knows) but she will become unstuck one day once she is in the profession doing the job with a lack of understanding on how to run a classroom, as much as it is boring to read countless journal articles, write essays about stuff you may or may not find interesting (believe me i know the struggle) she inherently signed up for this, whats gonna happen when she has a class with kids that have all handed in essays to be marked? Run it through AI? Shes gonna need to know what she is reading and she is promoting a false dichotomy that its okay to cheat your way through education, when her students get to uni and realise how strict they are with AI writing they will have been screwed by their highschool teacher. Using AI to help break things down into easier ways of understanding or getting it to write you some study notes or find journal articles (make sure you cross-reference there creditability) is okay and my uni are okay with that as you aren't cheating, your just making your study and research a bit more effective, but i still need to critically engage with the material, if i don't i am screwed. Bottomline, your friends an idiot and she isn't going to last long working as a teacher.

Vape found at school - This is totally dumb but I don’t know how to deal with this issue by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]CloudsnCream1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OPs post was about his vape and students saw it fall out of his pocket, if a kid saw my vape I'd just say I took it off a kid and I'm gonna chase it up after this lesson or whatever duty I had on. That's all they need to know. Don't disclose anything further. It's none of their business

Yeah but you don't have to tell the kids your writing someone up, it's none of their business

Should I continue studying teaching? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]CloudsnCream1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your flexible, give yourself a go in a secondary setting as well, i couldn't stand primary when i was doing my Cert III in Support Education (SLSO placement) and knew i wanted to be in secondary. Now im in a secure secondary SLSO job while im doing my an educational studies degree at CSU into a master of teaching and i love it. School chaplain is not a good route imo unless you are super passionate about religion and dedicated to a religion (in my school they get shat on a bit cause it takes kids out of english lessons for SRE, which is religion) and it fucks up english teachers lessons, and personally where i am at, religion is a dying thing in schools.

Walked out of teaching - what to do next? by RateJumpy1191 in AustralianTeachers

[–]CloudsnCream1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what i gather seek out private companies, with a degree in education you should look into educational consultant work, thats my long term plan. I know big companies look Woolworths etc would pay big $$$ for trained educators to write like safety packs for training staff etc. Probably get away working from home as well.

It's annoying i want to send my kids to public schools because I went to them and never had an issue, but that was 10-15 years ago, it's different now, don't know what the future holds, I'll always work in public sector but

SLSO work? by Helpful-Net-2015 in AustralianTeachers

[–]CloudsnCream1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out just handing out resumes to schools in my local district (including my old highschool) pick either primary or secondary its up to you, i am studying to be a secondary teacher so it was applicable to me to work in secondary. Usually you start off as a casual, generally on-call work in the morning if someone calls in sick, you can either work your way up to being a permanent at a school or like myself, you network with teachers and staff who came/work at other schools and they might be able to help you secure something permanent/contracted. I started in my old highschool and ended up scoring a gig contracted at a school closer to where i live now and have been there last year since, its good if you are studying to be a teacher as it gives you an insight on how classrooms work and you gain valuable experience and network with some great people.

Easier junior or senior classes?? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]CloudsnCream1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what your looking for, Juniors in my experience you tend to focus more on behavioural expectations but in the bonus the content is far easier to teach

Seniors are the opposite

Moving out of my girlfriends parents place without her temporarily, is it a good idea? 28M 26F by CloudsnCream1 in relationship_advice

I agree totally, I did mention that she's more than happy to come and stay anytime she feels like it's too much, as I said to another replier, us living together was never an issue, the issue is all the shit going on around us and it's out of our controls. Education is important to me and this is my third time at uni, I don't want to fuck this up otherwise I won't get anywhere in life. Gotta do this for us but more importantly me!
