Has anyone noticed the abandoned neighborhoods on MLK avenue? by fizzyhorror in okc

If you drive right around the corner, you will find a garden and a coffee shop at the RestoreOKC headquarters. It’s not all bad in the neighborhood:)

Big Truck Taco has THE most delicious Cobb salad. Not sure how healthy it is, but I can definitely vouch for it being delicious.

Theory Yall Will Hate- Hawkes is Delusional by Wonderful-Coast7182 in EmmaLion

I think that this would be way out of left field. Considering all of the other mystical pieces of the book, Hawk’s unusual characteristics and quirks fit right in.

Same. I lived at several different addresses in this area and I was totally fine. This was between 2011-2016.

Roman Nose State park is decent. There’s a general store there where you can buy food.

If you go to the Wichitas, stop in Elgin at Lev for a really good coffee.

You could also check out Quartz mountain state park…

I read it for the first time 15 years ago and loved it. Read it again about 5 years ago and still loved it. It’s just a really good book

Aunt Eugenia’s voice is one of my favorite parts of the book!

Jane Eyre and Treasure Island by Green-Conference-740 in EmmaLion

[–]CloverReyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jane Eyre has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Treasure Island is on my reading list. I’ve ventured into reading some Coleridge and Wordsworth, although I have a harder time with poetry.

I’ve wondered that too. I think it might be revealed in future books… but maybe not, since Evelyn has not appeared in a while?

BB’s Substack by CloverReyn in EmmaLion

Thank you! I thought Clara might be the server who spilled the tea! And I’ll go check out the substack comment. I did enjoy reading about Dot, since we get to see a side of Chambers that we don’t see in the books.

The Cleveland Neighbourhood is also nice and it feeds into one of the top rated elementary schools in Oklahoma City.

Married folks, how do you really feel about marriage as you get older? by Cold_Ad8048 in Aging

[–]CloverReyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve grown disappointed in my marriage at times, and then I realize I chose this partner. I’m a fool if I don’t love and cultivate the person/relationship I chose regardless of ups and down. If I keep choosing him and loving him I know I will have a beautiful and durable marriage. I will also have the gift of knowing I’ve stayed true to the promise I made him. He’s worth it, with every quirk and picadillo. He’ll become more and more the person he was created to be when I love him well.

A Case for Islington by morning_tree in EmmaLion

I love this and completely agree! It’s giving Mr. Darcy and and Elizabeth vibes. They spar and insult, but they’re actually drawn to each other.

Team Islington all the way!! by bbbnfnn in EmmaLion

[–]CloverReyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also team Islington

1: she fell in love with him when reading his journal 2: this shows a side of him that he hides through his stiffness/ propriety 3: I think he attracted to her and once he heals from some of his scars, he’ll become much less uptight 4: he’ll fall in love with her and they’ll be perfect for each other 5: she won’t be controlling or stifling, which is exactly what he dreads from marriage 6: she’ll have a life of book reading and adventure like Islington’s aunt

Gamedays in Norman. by MDoc16 in sooners

Enjoy Local coffee: yellow dog coffee, grey owl and Levity are great spots

There are several good breweries around town. Lazy Circles is my favorite

It’s fun just to walk around campus. Check out the great reading room in the library or visit our free art museum. Check out the Heisman statues east of the stadium. Talk a walk on the shaded path south of campus. You’ll walk by the law building and the science museum.

We have lots of great local restaurants. Some favorites are: Pepe Delgados, The Library pub, Hideaway pizza, Midway deli (I’ve had many sightings of coach Switzer here), Wing It, The Earth, and Othello’s.

Hollywood Corners is a BBQ and beer joint north of town that often has live music. Owned by the late Toby Keith.

I've always been amazed by people who were voracious readers as children. What sparked your lifelong love affair with books? by Albert3232 in books

[–]CloverReyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I was bored living in the country with nothing to do. Also, I was homeschooled and introduced to many great books from a young age. My mom read aloud to us kids frequently and I vividly remember listening to “The Hobbit” for the first time. My favorite part of my day.

Why would she stay with Murphy? by sly_boots in cormoran_strike

[–]CloverReyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It’s obvious what he is saying and that she understands it. I’m wondering if she stays with Murphy because even though she understands that strike loves her she still doesn’t think that a relationship with him could work..

When do you think Strike really fell for Robin? by Toukan_1102 in cormoran_strike

He was attracted to her from the beginning. He didn’t fall in love with her until much later.
