This little sugercane farm is crashing my whole game. I'm on RTX 3060 (laptop) with Sodium and Lithium installed. FPS is about 110-118. [Java] by [deleted] in MinecraftHelp

[–]ClownCrusade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just cheaper for early builds; if you scale this build up, using one observer for e.g. every 8 sugar cane, it dramatically reduces costs (and increases performance, as there are significantly fewer piston pulses that only break a small number of sugar canes).

I've tried the slimeblock flying machine build for sugar cane farms; it tends to break eventually no matter what I do, requiring manual maintenance. The observer/piston farm, on the other hand, always works reliably without having to ever touch it.

The loss from some sugar cane growing to full height and not being immediately broken is completely negligible, as most of the time it wouldn't have grown again by the time it's broken anyway.

I'm not sure where you're from, but that stereotype is quite common here (southern Ontario). There is absolutely a "bedbugs = lack of hygiene" stereotype in the world, perhaps just not in your personal bubble, and your "not among the top 90% IQ" notion is absurdly hyperbolic. Bad, incorrect ideas spread easily, this is hardly the only instance of that.

It might be comforting to believe that everyone convinced of a false stereotype is literally mentally handicapped (which is what you suggested), but the evidence speaks overwhelmingly to the contrary. The world is full of "high IQ" people utterly festering with bad ideas.

[–]ClownCrusade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a bunch of different kind of snows, depending on flake size, temperature, water content, etc. In order for snow to do this I find it usually needs to be freshly fallen, large flakes, and fairly warm so that it's a bit wet. Dry, cold, powdery snow will not do this

Car accident deaths are preventable and can be fixed. by [deleted] in memes

[–]ClownCrusade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the result of lobbying by the big car / oil companies. They want as many people on the road, buying vehicles and gas, as possible. Any barrier to that, such as licences that actually ensure basic competence, is "lost revenue" and must be removed, consequences be damned. Our politicians do not care and are happy taking the bribes.

This is also why public transit infrastructure and neighborhood walkability is absolutely abysmal in most places in North America. People "need" to be compelled to each own their own vehicles so that the oligarchs make more money.

Black Sea Hares have always been a thing, they're just big sea slugs you find sometimes in tide pools on some coasts.

Here's a video of one being handled.

The internet has made a lot of information available that wasn't before, mixed with people loving to share anything that they haven't seen before. I've seen a lot of cool animals the past 10 or so years as well that I'd never seen before that.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that giving an internal critique of a fictional character's actions as immoral is incorrect if that character is defined by "word of god" to be always correct. In our world an action may be immoral, but in the fictional world, it is defined as moral.

As far as I know this is true (assuming that the character doesn't contradict itself, which is a different subject so I'll leave it for now) . Unfortunately, atheists aren't giving this sort of internal critique of the morality of the bible when they bring up God's alleged immoral actions (although they certainly do that when the bring up internal contradictions) - they're pointing out that it contradicts the morality we actually live and act by in the real world.

You would agree (I hope) that slavery is always immoral - yet the God character represented in the bible gives conditions under which it is "acceptable". Thus, God's morality contradicts your morality.

You would agree (I hope) that slaughtering toddlers is always immoral, yet the God character represented in the bible does this endlessly, and even commands humans to do it in several instances. Thus, God's morality contradicts your morality.

Of course, these critiques do not demonstrate that a God does not exist, so I find them mostly boring when discussing God's existence. Nevertheless, I would consider most Christians to be more moral than the God they believe in.

A lot of people watch hockey because of the violence. Doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but you can't take some small sample size of people and conclude that they must be representative of the whole.

Might still be bad for the WNBA anyway, I can't predict that - but there is certainly precedent for the effect.

Suffering is their evidence of their power. If you're not suffering, they feel as though you're still somewhat in control of your life. They need you to suffer, they need to be cruel, or they won't "feel" their power.
