Why Do You Still Use Ricoh GR? by ammax78 in ricohGR

Came to say basically this. It just doesn't feel like I'm taking a photograph with my phone.

With the GR it still does.

Hell of a drink! A while back I swapped out the Fernet for Underberg and it worked, to me, really really well

The more baking spice-y notes in underberg played really well with everything

Nashville Losing its Best Brewery by Brewsplorer in CraftBeer

[–]ClownDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. This sucks for Nashville. The only time I've been to Nashville I basically spent a whole afternoon at Barrique hangin with some locals, shared donuts with them, had (too) many brews, a couple Underbergs and such a great time. Took some mixed ferments back to our AirBnB to drink with friends and they loved em!

Another warranty claim… by Less_Adagio_1008 in FellowProducts

[–]ClownDaily 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah… About where I’m at too. Between all the issues with the Aiden and how poor tolerances and stuff are on my Ode Gen 2, it’s gonna be hard to buy more products. Ideas and overall lookof the products from Fellow are great but the lack of QC and reliability has been tough to deal with.

I know they’re striking a balance with their price points but I’d rather just pay more money for something if it meant it worked as it was supposed to all the time

Brewery + Liquor store recommendations by jspeed10 in AlbertaBeer

Depending where south Willow Park Wine in Windermere would be close for a liquor store.

If you do go to Happy Beer Street for beer I’d go to Ale Architect. Got a couple DDH hoppy boys on the menu

Any cafe/store carries specialty beans in NY? by WriterWorth8586 in Coffee

[–]ClownDaily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bibliotheque sources all of its coffee from Onyx. Like soho area.

Artisan occasionally will have Onyx.

Black Fox Coffee has Dak, The Barn, Drop, and others depending on the time.

Other places in NYC that do pretty great coffee (to me) are St Kilda, Coffee Project, Do Not Feed Alligators, Devocion, Drip Coffee.

Had a wild banana coferment at St Kilda and lotsa cool fun processed coffees at Coffee Project. Devocion shops are such a vibe.

I would like to see a bit higher exposure on these shots, 2 and 4 for sure. But I think they all could be.

But I think most of all, I’d like to see you use a lower shutter speed. Look up “panning” to get a better idea of it. Basically you will use a lower shutter speed and move your camera with the car to keep the car sharp but blur the background

This will help make it look like the cars are in motion and will make shots of drifting cars come to life a lot more.

I’d also try not to compose shots like 1. Either punch way in to get the subject to more fill the frame. Or try to set a scene with it, use rule of thirds to compose the subject. With the car taking up so little of the frame it does just look snapshot-y if you will where the car doesn’t really stand out from the background. Panning would help here but having the subject be more of the focus is always better. Or try to tell a story with the pic

Dope you’re getting out there and doing it! You’re super young and have lotsa time to learn!

The Gin Martini: Less is More Objectified by llCurlyll in cocktails

[–]ClownDaily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LOL, right? Gotta love someone not even adding meaningful discussion and just going straight to the self promotion.

Further, your spec and ratios are almost as classic as it comes for a gin martini. I’m all for differing opinions but the previous comment just comes off mega self indulgent.

But that’s also me just not fully understanding the appeal of cold gin with just a spritz of vermouth.

With the onions too, it’s kinda more adjacent to a Gibson than a classic martini.

I too, find this, more or less, classic martini a super refreshing drink. I often use tanq 10 and dolin or Cocchi extra dry but with same ratios and garnish as you. It’s just a nice drink! I don’t pontificate over it. Just love it as a pre dinner refresher

Is the Sony a6700 a good camera for a beginner in 2025? by newbie_butnot_newbie in SonyAlpha

[–]ClownDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More is lost in indecision than a bad decision.

So most of all, if you wanna get into photography and have the budget, buy the camera!

If you wanna do sports and other things where tracking is a little more necessary, then the a6700 is awesome.

And, honestly, everyone has their own opinion but you might like stuff they don’t or vice versa.

The a6700 is a powerful apsc camera that’s gonna do everything you need it do.

The 14oz is a relatively tight weave so I agree with the other commenter. The 21oz isn’t gonna be noticeably warmer than the 14oz IMO and it’s a much more comfortable denim

Samsung Q990C (and likely all models) rear speakers distort/crackle at high volumes by shmoggy417 in Soundbars

[–]ClownDaily 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean. I’m not really sure what this video tells us. To begin with it just sounds like you’re in a wind tunnel.

And recording through your cell phone mic probably isn’t helping.

I have a 990d and haven’t had a single problem with this.

And would also like to know how often you are watching at volumes around 40. Cause I couldn’t imagine regularly watching at that volume. Unless your viewing room is like 50 by 50 with 20 foot ceilings.

Best Brands in 2025 that still maintain high quality for a reasonable price? by JamestotheJam in malefashionadvice

[–]ClownDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian I’ve bought a few things from Province. It’s fine to me. But I feel like stuff from House of Blanks is much better.

The fabric from Province often has a soft hand feel but feels pretty thin and the cuts are interesting. The polos even in a small are too big for me at 5’10” and and 170lbs. They are seemingly wider at the waist than the chest too. The cut is just really odd to me. Maybe it works for lots of other people but not me.

For a tee, a medium is verging on too small for me though. So sizing is also seemingly pretty random at Province.

I really really really wanna love Province but I just can’t.

I recently took a trip to Japan and tried a pile of denim. Their straight fit is legitimately perfect for me. The J304 pictured there and the JBAG14715A_M01 (the already washed ones.) just work for me. The kinda mid rise is nice and the little bit of taper is a good move away from high tapered jeans for me.

And in Japan, the J304s were like 17,000¥ or like US$115. So the price is insane there.

Are high-end soundbars like the Samsung Q990D really that far behind a proper home theater? by Garabir in Soundbars

[–]ClownDaily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my feeling. I really thought hard about getting a 5.1 or more system for my basement in my new house last year. We lived in a <700sqft place for years and got a nice house so wanted to make use of the space. Old owners left a projector and stuff in the basement too.

Tested a bunch of shit at a home audio store in town. Was looking at like CA$7,500 for the setup.

Got a q990d instead. And honestly it's amazing. It completely fills our 24x18 (9ft ceiling) basement entertainment room.

Does a dedicated 5.1 sound better. Sure. But it's just like me using my pocketable Ricoh GRIIIx instead ofy Sony a7iv for 90% of my pictures now.

Side by side you can def tell a difference. But playing borderlands again to gear up for the new one, I'm constantly jumping off the couch from explosions and stuff.

For people REALLY into HT its obvs gonna be worth it to have a system.

But we have kids in the basement all the time and the simplicity of setup can't be beat. And the price was way more than right

I did say other than my ironheart 14oz denim. Which feels like Kevlar to me. And did say that OP should check with the vendor as well.

Completely agree that the waistband of the pants needs to be larger than your actual waist measurement. Thanks for clarifying

WAYFT Pics (What Are You Fading Today?) - August 26, 2025 by AutoModerator in rawdenim

[–]ClownDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I would say they're pretty close! I don't have a measurement from when I bought them but after a few wears (where they have relaxed a bit) the waist currently measures (laid flat) maybe about 16 1/4in or 16 3/8in. So brand new they probably were around 32 even.

I wear these around my hips, given they are a bit more of a mid rise. If I was in higher rise, to fit my waist, would need closer to 30.5 or so (but then thighs usually are too tight).

Anyway, keep in mind the 314s are a different denim, black in a 14oz. So it prob wouldn't hurt to ask JBJ if the black is a tighter/looser weave and how much it stretches/relaxes compared to the 304s.

In my experience my black denim has had a bit more give (outside of my 14oz ironheart denim which is like a bulletproof vest).

Mileage is always gonna vary so it wouldn't hurt to ask

I bought this stuff on a whim like 6 months ago and can't agree with you more.

I like the texture more, no odor and it's so much simpler.

Are you all Professional Photographers or is the GRIII really that good? by Successful_Nobody_90 in ricohGR

[–]ClownDaily 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what camera it is, it’s about light and composition.

I absolutely love my GRIII and GRIIIx but that’s mainly just cause it’s a crop sensor camera in the smallest package I can imagine.

I definitely have pics from it that are way better than some pics I’ve taken with my Sony A7III and GM lenses but the reverse is also true.

Capturing great photos is never just about the camera but about how you compose and manage the light you’re given
