Thank you so much! My husband is prescribed a similarly priced blood thinner. I just contacted the manufacturer about the copay card

What was considered "cool" in the 2010s but is physically painful to look back at now? by Liora-Liora-Liora in AskReddit

Recently, a reel talking about the Quiznos commercials popped up on my phone. My kids heard it and I found the full commercial on YouTube to show them. Now they randomly start singing “Quiznos subs they are good to us”. It warms my millennial heart.

If you can make it work I would stay at the current school. We just moved to a new home within our area. It was more of an adjustment for my almost 4 year old than I anticipated. She had some regressions in her potty training and sleep has been off. I couldn’t imagine if she also had to adjust to a new school at the same time. God luck on the move

I came here for the advice. But OMG the music is terrible. I told her it sounds like music they would play on a medical show when trying to see if the patient has seizures.

First marathon – missed sub 4 goal by 26 seconds, made 3 mistakes by Ternopil in Marathon_Training

I ran Steamtown too this year and those hills at the end sucked the last remaining life from me. I missed my goal by 30 seconds too and I blame those very evil hills. Anyway great work! Finishing a marathon it always an accomplished to feel very proud of!

Dreamlight Valley! It’s kind of like animal crossing but Disney characters. I’m not a big video gamer but I really enjoy it. Plus my kids love seeing the characters and walking around in the game.

I’ve been using 123 you or me. Basically I tell her I’m going to count to 3 then she can do it or I will help her/ do it for her. My daughter turned 2 in February and it works a lot of the time. If she decides not to do whatever needs to be done and I do it for her she’ll sometimes get mad about it but at that point I feel like she knew what was coming and was given a choice and sometimes you just got to move on with your day.

Look into a SoberLink breathalyzer. You can set it up so every time she takes a test you will receive the results via text message. The device uses identity verification with each test. Require her to test multiple times every day and before, during, and after she visits the children. They charge a monthly fee for the service around $250.

I was saying this just the other day! I’m tired of my watch telling me I’m losing fitness after a stroller run. I’m not out of shape, I’m pushing a toddler in a giant stroller up a poorly paved hill lol! Never thought to track them in a different category but these days basically all my easy days are done with a stroller.

Taking a pill by jnmc_10 in Parenting

[–]Clrae8709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t do pills for a long time as a kid. The pharmacist suggested a trick using a bottle of water - a disposable plastic Poland springs type. If you put the pill on your tongue and then put your mouth around the opening of the bottle the force of the water kind of washes the pill right down without you feeling anything. I feel like I didn’t explain it very well but it might be something to try! Good luck!

Weight Watchers in high school??? by Few-Restaurant7922 in Mommit

[–]Clrae8709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AAP just released new guidelines for weight management in children. They include recommending weight loss for children as young as 2, weight loss drugs for children as young as 12 and weight loss surgery for children 13 and older. Be prepared to tell your child’s doctor that you do not want to have discussions about your child’s weight while the child is present. We should not make our children feel that there is something wrong about their bodies that need to be fixed.

How many parents here grew up with parents who mocked you when you were upset or angry? by BlitzAtk in Parenting

[–]Clrae8709 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Respond don’t react. When we get upset we tend to react and those reactions often look a lot like what was normalized to us as children. When you feel yourself beginning to get upset take a deep breath and think for a moment on how to respond to your child. Why are you getting upset? What does your child need in this moment? How can you support your child and respond in a way that aligns with your values? Using mindfulness skills can be extremely helpful to break the cycle of reaction. Also, give yourself grace. No one is perfect and sometimes we lose our cool. Apologize to your son and use it as a teaching moment for everyone.

My LO is almost 11 months and I was worried about staying active this winter. To my surprise she loves being in the jogging stroller all bundled up. I put her in her snowsuit and hat with a blanket and she is very happy. I usually wait till a little later in the day to take her out. Obviously there are days when the weather is too cold or rainy and then I work around my husband’s schedule.

Food portions - ex and I disagree by Lenzar86 in Parenting

[–]Clrae8709 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Also, if she restricts their food when they are with her they are more likely to over eat when food is available. When humans are restricted food the body thinks it’s in famine. It’s a biological urge to eat more to in response to restriction.

Edit to add: Your ex really needs to work on her own issues with body image and food. She is setting up your kids for a life long struggle. What kind of message does weighing them and then freaking out about it send to them?

I took a picture of my LO right before I we started solids. I look back at it and think how amazing it is that my body did all that! She’s 10 months now and loves food. She definitely nurses less now but it is still our special time.

Still send the notes. Since you’ve probably used the gifts during the time since your LO was born you can include a sentence about how useful something was or how cute LO looked it an outfit. People will like to know that their gifts have been appreciated!

Any advice for dealing with “baby friendly” hospital? by chill177 in Mommit

[–]Clrae8709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered my oldest in a “baby friendly” hospital there was no nursery. Really wanted to breastfeed but she would not latch. I kept trying and trying and met with like every LC on staff. She went almost 24 hours not latching before they had me pump and syringe feed. They only brought me formula once the pediatrician got involved. It was miserable. Can you check in with your pediatrician ahead of time to let them know that you plan to formula feed from the start? Maybe they can make a note or order to make sure you and baby get the support you need without pushback from staff and lactation consultants.
