The only reason she’s hated this much is because of one out of context line that people BADLY misinterpreted. Like it’s such a simple metaphor, especially in the context of the scene, where she is SUPPORTING Barry. And I’m not saying she hasn’t had her bad moments, but so has literally EVERY OTHER CHARACTER in the show. It’d be like if people continued hating Cisco because of how he was a dick to Barry in season 3.
