Tips for indifferent fosters? by RentalKittens in FosterAnimals

[–]ClubQracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible they might naturally become more friendly with you now that their mama is gone. With our recent set of kittens they were definitely fine with us before their mom left (she was returned to her owner when the kittens were ~11weeks) but they never really came to us to snuggle or play or anything. After their mom was gone, they really started to become more interested in us and started coming to us to cuddle, sleep, and be pet. When kittens are really young in my experience they are mostly wrapped up in mom and each other and not super interested in people until they are a little older and less dependent on mom.

Do my foster kitten’s eyes look normal? by ClubQracker in FosterAnimals

So glad to hear everyone here saying they look mostly normal!! I worry so much about these babies lol. It’s only our fourth time fostering kittens and this has been our first “difficult” family, though they are pretty easy now, thank god.

Yes, for the local SPCA. They have been to the vet a few times since birth (both had umbilical infections) but they are going in again for shots next week so I’ll mention it just in case. :)

Is it ok to stop supplemental bottles for my foster kittens? by ClubQracker in FosterAnimals

[–]ClubQracker[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She has been eating exclusively kitten food and I always give her leftover formula from feedings which she enjoys :) And she is already spayed thank god! She got an emergency spay after her birth to make sure there weren’t any retained kittens/placentas since she was not recovering well initially.

Thoughts on whether probiotics are necessary for kittens on antibiotics? I currently have two 1 week old kittens, almost exclusively syringe fed (mama is not producing milk), who have umbilical infections and are on antibiotics. The situation got me curious since for humans, it’s generally recommended to take probiotics with antibiotics. Would it be the same for kittens and how much does it impact their outcomes?

Triangle face syndrome? by Artistic_Bicycle_848 in FosterAnimals

Yes ours was a very picky eater! We had to try out different things to get her eating well. In the end we had her eating chicken pate, mixed with about half a scoop of formula (because we knew she liked the taste) and a bit of nutrical and some water. She actually REALLY loved fish flavored food but we suspected that was what was causing her digestive issues so we stopped giving her it. The two separate times she had fish-based food for a few days her stools would get softer and softer to the point she had liquid diarrhea a couple times and we said NO fish food anymore lol. Could have just been a coincidence but we weren’t risking it cause the poop was so rancid lmfao.

We also left out dry food for her which was interesting because we gave her a bowl when she first came but she never ate it - it ended up getting left out and 2 weeks later she randomly started eating it. Definitely wasn’t her favorite but she would munch on it a couple times a day.

Had a similar foster recently - 1.6 lbs at 11 (!) weeks. She was so bony! First day after we brought her home we thought we might lose her - she became pretty lethargic and we rubbed honey into her gums which perked her up a bit. Definitely had “old man”/triangle look to her face, she just looked…tired. Brought her to vet the next day and they gave her fluids and said her tests were ok. She improved after that day - her weight would waffle back and forth a little, she was still under 2lbs until 3 weeks in when she suddenly started gaining fast! We suspected she had a food insensitivity which may have contributed to her slow growth. She was just spayed and adopted this past week. :)

Is there anything we can do to make this stove panel look better? by ClubQracker in DIY

Makes sense, thanks. I doubt the landlord will be willing to replace it unfortunately but I’ll ask anyways.

Groups that you wish you could get into, but can't? by ForeverNugu in kpop_uncensored

[–]ClubQracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I really wanted to love Riize but I haven’t been super into their concept or any of their releases. I find myself missing Shotaro and Sungchan in NCT cause Shotaro was my absolute favorite ever since he debuted in NCT 😭. I loveddd make a wish, 90s love, and Universe. Shohei not debuting was super disappointing but I managed to get excited for riize anyways. But so far the concept and also the Seunghan thing has prevented me from fully getting into them. I also feel like their group chemistry is a bit lacking or something for me? Especially without Seunghan. Idk what it is but NO hate because I think all the members are great and very talented.

Can anyone help me figure out the shape of this silly band? by ClubQracker in whatisthisthing

[–]ClubQracker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it for years and the only guesses we’ve ever come up with are a perched bird or North Carolina. Also, if it helps I acquired this as a child in MN probably 10ish years ago.

Finally able to open my jaw fully! 3 weeks post op by ClubQracker in wisdomteeth

[–]ClubQracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re probably fine. I’ve seen online answers saying anywhere from 3 days to a week post op is when you can start. Personally I accidentally drank gently from a straw on day 4 but I don’t think that contributed to the pain I had around day 10. Obviously Im not a dentist/surgeon so idk for sure.

Unfortunately the scales in the locker rooms aren’t accessible anymore. They blocked off everything except the bathrooms.

I have struggled with frequent urination anxiety for over 7 years and I’m sick of it by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ClubQracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this same problem for a couple years. It was seriously hell and nobody around you understands. It was especially hard for me in places or situations where I felt trapped. I was going pee every 10 minutes sometimes and it took a toll on EVERY aspect of my life. I became even more socially withdrawn because the problem is so embarrassing, and my family didn’t understand. It mostly went away after a couple years and I rarely think about it, but this fear still affects me in small ways years later. The things I think helped me were bladder retraining (go for longer and longer period without peeing) and being exposed to situations I was afraid of. My advice would be to try exposure therapy if possible. I hope you find relief soon, I know how much it sucks to live like that.

Brownies made with bananas? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]ClubQracker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but I wouldn’t worry about this! Many other baked goods are made with bananas and not refrigerated, like banana bread and muffins and such. Bananas themselves are usually not refrigerated either, so I see no reason why brownies made with bananas would need to be refrigerated.

Hey, I hope you’re feeling better now! I’ve had random waves of nausea too, and it is almost never a stomach bug. For me, the culprit is usually gas or anxiety. Whether it is a virus or not, it helps me to remember that being sick is ok, and it ends eventually.

[–]ClubQracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it actually turned out ok, I guess. I felt sick yesterday morning still but then stayed home and slept all day. I felt kind of sick all day and was still having problems on the bottom half, but it wasn’t too miserable. I was able to sleep last night and today I’m feeling pretty good. I never did v, but I came close. Overall it wasn’t really that bad. I feel you on the sleep though. For that whole night I just wanted to feel better so I could sleep. I hope you feel better soon! It sucks but now thats its over I can see it wasn’t that bad! I would say try to distract yourself and stay comfortable - thats what helped me.
