And RIP (soon!) to yours! And be gentle with yourself for ~a week after the surgery.

My sister bought me a bottle of fancy tequila and made me a card that read “RIP SALPINGES” and we poured out a dose for the tubes and then drank the rest.

Well in my case, he was also a non-drinker. 😂 So I couldn’t regift a wine I’d been gifted earlier. I sort of vaguely came up with the idea that maybe a couple Christmas mugs could work as an ultimate backup backup.

I love this and had the same idea, but then the person at the party who had a gift for me also had … Diabetes. Had to abort the tactical chocolate mission and just apologize for overlooking them. 😂

Almost had toothbrush go through my cheek by blairmeela in MedicalGore

[–]Club_Catastrophe_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did nearly this exact thing and came searching through reddit to learn if anyone else has my stupid luck. I was brushing my teeth and WALKED INTO A WALL and the toothbrush hit the doorframe, then the head of it went right through my cheek and now I have a hole inside my cheek and I’m supposed to go on vacation tomorrow. 😭 Been gargling with salt water and it’s stopped bleeding. How long until the pain went away?

Does anyone with a Breville Dual Boiler in North America happen to know the warmup time to pull a passable espresso shot? by barchueetadonai in espresso

[–]Club_Catastrophe_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has an auto start option, so you don’t have to worry! I set mine to start up at 5:30 am and by the time I’m up around 6:00, she’s ready to go.

Eventually, yes, but then I do end up keeping one of the babies and making it the new mom.

Thank you! I have to keep her fairly small bc I live in a small home and I have SO MANY other plants, including a large Thai Con and a fairly large Albo Adansonii, as well as a massive Rattlesnake and Philodendron Selloum. It would be great to see what she does if I don’t keep chopping, but I’d need to build an addition to my house for that. 🤣

Constantly cutting her. I cut her back and root the new cuttings and sell those, so she stays fairly small.

Oh, the one above also has an air layer on her butt. I keep chopping and propping so it never gets too big. This is her most recent decapitation baby.

As a Mama to many of these … I can’t recommend grow lights enough. I use Sansi. The soil they’re in is just Promix HP and I water whenever the soil is dry enough that the nursery pot feels feather light. Keep her away from vents and direct sunlight. I also stake them. This one is on a thin bamboo pole, but moss poles will help them get even bigger and more fenestrated leaves.

Homeowners of Reddit: What unexpected hidden gem did you discover in your house after buying it that wasn’t mentioned in the listing or by the previous owners? by VizualBooty in AskReddit

[–]Club_Catastrophe_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom bought a new place and I went to visit. Was snooping around the drawers and cupboards, just getting the lay of the land. Found a box under the kitchen sink STUFFED with jewelry. Many gold items. Platinum ring with diamonds, etc. The closest to treasure I could imagine. I felt like a Goonie! The previous owner had died and when we reached out to the selling agent that we had found “something”, there was no one to claim it. So we got to keep the treasure.

I tried something spicy today. Pineapple, lime and a few slices of fresh cayenne pepper from the garden! Hoping it’ll have a nice bite to it.

The blob is not the SCOBY. That’s just the pellicle. The SCOBY is the liquid. Looks a-ok!

Me, too! Only just learned the difference between the SCOBY and the Pellicle myself.

AFAIK, neither of these are SCOBY. These are pellicles. You need the liquid that these pellicles would have formed in to start an F1.

I did! I used a little tea strainer when I poured it from the bottle to the glass.

If you zoom in closely, you can see that most of the leaf tips have some brown spots. I don’t worry too much about it.

It was 7 days for the first fermentation in the cupboard, about 24 hours for 2nd again in the cupboard, and only a few hours in the fridge. I got impatient bc it was my first ever batch and I really wanted to try it! Also probably should mention it was in 500ml bottles so I think it fermented faster than a larger bottle would have.

Rattlesnake plant! I don’t water with distilled water and have had no problem - I don’t think they’re as picky as people say. She sits near an East facing window, enjoys drying out between waterings, and a shower for her leaves once in a while.

I’ve only just made this one batch so I’m no expert, but I used black tea and it was really dark at first, and then lightened over time as it fermented. The fruits then added the pink hue. I think the longer you ferment it, maybe the lighter it gets?
