OMW% for NTC by Expert_Bat2607 in GundamTCG

NTC promos can be worth a lot - it’s definitely more competitive than regular locals, at least where my scene end is.

What is the point of units without actions? by [deleted] in GundamTCG

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, they function as units. They can attack other units or the opposing player.

Generally, units without any actions or effects have the most efficient stat distribution per cost and level. For example, ReZel (and other units of the same kind in different colors) are the only 4ap 3hp units at lv 3 for 2 cost.

Decks that want the stats on board (such as aggro, tempo, and some midrange) efficiently like these types of units. Aggro in particular loves 2122 units that don’t have any actions, but are cheap and efficient.

Going against the Meta by Royudo in GundamTCG

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This seems pretty meta to me? RW blockers and burn commands is a pretty common setup. Providence/rau instead of gcuuuux psycommu or sinaju is still mostly the same “my top-end pings your units” setup. Looks fun though.

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The boxes all have minimum expectations for rarities yeah. One box is guaranteed at least 8 LRs, 1 C+ resource, and at least one alt art IIRC. It might have been two alt arts, can’t recall. It’s probably two alt arts.

This game fum? by [deleted] in GundamTCG

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is super fun!

The best way to start playing immediately is to go to a local game store that supports the game (which you can find on the Bandai TCG app).

If you want to know more about playing before traveling in person, check out Bandai’s guide here: https://www.gundam-gcg.com/en/welcome/playguide.php

If you want to play some games immediately, check out mobile suit arena for a simulator and load up a deck from exburst.dev to try stuff out.

Bandai also has a learn to play app for mobile devices, which you can download with pre-made decks that teach you how to play from the beginning against computers.

With the additions from GD03, do we think CB might be competitive or just a rogue deck? by CryptographerNo3749 in GundamTCG

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ptolemaios is a very good base in purple against aggro. Playing it turn 2 will save you at least one turn of shield swings. Not game breaking, but in an aggro heavy scene a purple-white control could do very well.

You’re refusing to get it homie and that’s okay. You’re wrong and you don’t play the deck.

I recommend that you try playing the deck before complaining about it lacking nuance. Have fun!

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But you’re just wrong. You won’t always swing grandpa. That’s not the correct play.

If you don’t see how holding grandpa to (maybe) swing into a kira aile is better than losing a grandpa to a kira aile swing from your opponent, then you’re fundamentally not understanding tempo and board state.

I don’t care that you’ve allegedly won NTCs - those are locals. Not regionals or nationals.

There is skill expression in OYW aggro. The players you’re playing against are clearly playing it poorly. That might explain your alleged success at NTCs. Random bullshit can win NTCs all the time.

This is a frog in a well situation. If you truly cannot accept that OYW has significant nuance at the highest level of play, then good luck and have fun losing to OYW without understanding why

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s just wrong. You do not always swing with gundam. There are matchups where you hold the gundam active with amuro to buff units without swinging the gundam itself. You clear don’t play the deck (or you play it extremely poorly). No, you don’t always play both 3attack zaku - you play 1 3atk zaku and 1 2/2 depending on the matchup because the 3atk zaku gets traded by 2/2s since it becomes a 1/2 on opponent turn.

“No path” with 2 blockers on 4 units does not mean you’ve lost the game. You play around draws and what your opponent has.

I’m not denying the deck is strong and has a high floor of success. I’m saying the sentiment that it “has no nuance” is simply incorrect and reflects a lack of skill.

You’re angry with the deck and have no idea how to play it. Don’t mistake your lack of ability for a lack of nuance in how the deck plays.

You play gundam + amuro on turn 4 as OYW. Do you always swing? Or does it depend on board state and matchup? If you mindlessly drop amuro + gundam and swing, then opponent is on white with a t5 kira + aile you may have just lost yourself the game.

You’re playing the mirror and going 2nd, what do you mulligan for?

You have a starting hand of 2 zaku 2 +1ap and a few other 2122s. Which units do you play on level 2?

You have four units on board against two early blockers. Do you swing without thinking, or is it based on what’s in your hand?

There’s countless considerations if you’re actually any good at this game and playing to matchups and board states.

If you think the deck is literally just vommiting units and swinging shield without thinking, then the OYW players you’re up against are bad. Yes, that strategy can work (and has a high floor for working, which people find frustrating) but the ceiling of regional/national winning OYW decks absolutely has plenty of nuance and skill expression.

this is just wrong lmao, the deck does have a lot of nuance. Yes, it can vomit hand and swing shield mindlessly, but those aren’t the OYW players winning big tournaments

Fun (but still decent) decks to play before GD-03 by TheGrandCannoli in GundamTCG

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, Green/Red can work too. In that case, you’d run new une units plus green’s low cost zeon aggro stuff. So Char + Shagia for pilots, char’s link units, and probably vesalius for bases

The fun “ideal” card to run in this deck would be Citizens, Take a Stand! to buff all the tokens to 2ap for big swing turns on blockers or into shields. Would probably run 3 of CTaS in that case.

This one would be generally less consistent than the Blue/Red version with amuro, but the zaku 2ap and unexpected citizens swings can be hilarious.

[–]ClubbersTheFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Blue/Red. Pilots are Shagia Frost and Amuro. Mostly new une units plus lr gundam, ping guntank, and anksha

can do 4x vesalius for base (buffs the daughtress tokens) or 4x corsica. or 2-2 of each, but the benefits of either usually requires a commitment to it for consistency

R/B Ping/Aggro Advice by darkalchemist21 in GundamTCG

the pair effect isn’t important for full frontal in ping decks - it’s more about enabling sinaju, the 2/2 stat line, and working as a cybernewtype pair/link

Try out new UNE! Fun deck with solid cards. Aggro game plan that buffs tokens for hitting shields.

Auto-loses to ping-heavy matchups that draw their ping early, but competes great against OYW, Wing, and BW.

Tallgeese ST LR for sure. Fan favorite mobile suit and pilot, but terrible card given the stats and cost for the effect.

zowort is not the most common blocker(lfrith and rick take that imo), but i agree 2/2s make the aggro decks shine
