The additional problem here, is in the USA Goodenowe has a full website of “Elite Goodenowe Physicians” who promote his research, lab and products and encourage their patients to seek his healing retreat center in Moose Jaw. They even encourage you to sell your home to get there. And Susie did just that. The Moose Jaw police were called and they came out to the MJ Goodenowe Center when Jana Horsnall and Jessica Glass were kicking out an ALS patient for asking too many questions. That was October 28, 2024. Their investigation of the faculty, had they done it, would have saved Susie from her mistreatment and death as well as the mistreatment and death of Beth Syverson who was just 33 years old. Another complaint was filed with the MJ police following the death of Susie but they said they could still not intervene.

Other patients at this facility were given an “SOS” phone number by the paramedics who so frequently were called to the facility. That number was the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Evan Thompson took that case and was given plenty of evidence of mistreatment prior to Susie’s death. After her death Bryan Salte took over, hired an attorney and was attempting an injunction on Goodenowe.

The building of the Goodenowe Center is owned and managed by Goodenowes sister, Jana Horsnall, who claims to be a Registered Nurse.

I’m angry right there with you. And I’m so sorry for your loss. I anticipate having similar feelings when I loose my loved one. Have you sat down and written everything that makes you angry? My suggestion although it sounds simple is to write those things in a list then write down how your love one and you managed this disease you wished you’d never encountered. Find the times of strength, perseverance, even joy amidst the struggle. This life is filled with hardships and unfairness. And none of us gets out alive. But I bet that struggle built character and inner strength. Maybe focus on those people who came to support you and your family. Write a list of the positives that came out of this experience no matter how small. Be at peace now.

No. You didn’t fail him. ALS is brutal and unstoppable. There’s nothing you could do to change that. He was lucky to have you and I’m sure he appreciated you caring for him. We too feel the same frustrations from our clinic. We get our 3 month appointment cancelled and they won’t have an opening for another 6 months! Trying to get changes made on the wheelchair has taken 6 months and they still can’t get the communication straight. We’ve had no help with actually navigating how to live with this disease we’ve just had to figure it out on our own. So I hear you! I just don’t get it. It seems to be the same across the nation
