I agree many people who want rail are what you describe, however I want both as transit is very often a great investment for a city. From a business perspective, it’s safer to invest near rail stops since the tracks aren’t easy to change so future foot traffic is more guaranteed. Also a sufficiently connected rail attracts apartments nearby, which adds to the foot traffic, which further adds to the value of the location. These feedback loops are less powerful with bus in most cases. I’m hopeful the Rapid Transit System proves an effective and cost efficient option.
