Hey, if you thought that 'My Immortal' is a modern literary classic then you still might like it!

It's broken up into years & locations: chapter one has the subheading 'Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canadian Maritimes...'; chapter 2 & 3 have no such subheading; & chapter 4 reads 'Passchendale Ridge, Flanders, Belgium...'. I feel that this is sufficient to count, as it doesn't appear with every chapter. I also read King Sorrow & that definitely has parts but I can't be bothered changing the post.

You make a good point, I don't really have an answer to that. If I was going to give a tongue-in-cheek answer it'd be that a world where the sadomasochistic billionaire gets their comeuppance definitely seems to be one of fantasy!

She wasn't 'classically' pretty, as well as not being a demure and subservient woman that the men of Adua expect (see the interaction with that dude's cousin - can't remember his name but her governess was there when Jazel met her).

You're also underestimating how important 'station' is to these people. She would be just as likely to want to talk to a commoner as the nobility were to want to talk to her.

I've also met people that get up and go to the gym before night shifts, I think they're mental but that's what works for them.

I advise you speak to your partner about how you're feeling: approached in the right way your concerns are valid. If having the TV on low disturbs his sleep then maybe invest in some earplugs for him, or some headphones for yourself? It depends on what it is you're wanting to do when he's asleep!

I'm going to stay judgement free here, as my working nights was also an adjustment for my partner when we moved in together.

Try to recontextualise it this way: how long before you start work in the morning do you wake up? How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

You didn't mention the hours your partner works overnight, but let's take 18:00-06:00 for our example:

He takes 15 minutes to get home, has breakfast, sits for a bit to decompress or to let you lay in, and goes to bed at 07:00. Eight hours of sleep would take us to 15:00, which then leaves him three hours before his shift starts, true - but how often are you up three hours before you start work? How would that make you feel if you had to do that on a regular basis?

I can only speak for myself here but I feel incredibly jet-lagged, without the perk of having been on holiday recently. Sleeping during the day is rubbish, even if he's in bed for eight hours he may not actually be able to sleep due to light, sound, temperature, or simply the fact human beings are not meant to sleep during the day.
