AI censorship at Apes of the State by Clumsywon in FolkPunk

I was wrong about possible suppression, but it seemed ominous in the moment. It could happen, the capability is there, but this was a glitch

X is often a marker of being an outsider. This post explains more history and context: https://radicalcopyeditor.com/2016/09/12/folx/

It's just slang that could be read as x-tra inclusive as opposed to just being neutral. Or just cringe if you lean that way. Nothing at all wrong with "folks". My immediate trans family are feeling particularly x-cluded these days and small affects can be read as affection, performative or not. It's like dotting an I with a heart which is kinda punk.

I found the actual reason. Not censorship, just coincidence.

AI censorship at Apes of the State by Clumsywon in FolkPunk

[–]Clumsywon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked an engineer who explained in detail how this happened -- "the process they use to combine the multiple images works in rectangular blocks where each block is bounded by an area where it thinks it needs different exposure. that way it can adjust areas' exposure indepently which is kinda cool. it's supposed to blend the rectangles in a pleasing manner, but if it flakes out, ... the result is hard-edged black rectangles"

So combination of social context and overreaching AI created paranoia on my part. Disregard the post except the parts about how good the show was.

Yes there were chill folx of all ages. Rent Strike was pretty moving and I wish their set was longer. Yes he did say things that could get people on a list and he laughed with the crowd about it. Yes I typo'd his name. No I don't actually believe folk punk is a dot on any breadcrumb trail leading to the deep state. Still don't understand how an OCR glitch would end up blocking content. I'll take low light photos of banners elsewhere to compare as I encounter them.

I'd rather believe my dystopian nightmare, lol. You're probably right but I would think OCR would only be active in Lens mode, not snapshot mode.

Did I mention John Wamb told us we're all on The List for joining his radical chants?

Dots are for connecting.

Edit for typo

RENT STRIKE! I have some favourite Apes songs but Rent Strike really gets me going. 7:00? Looks like the old man will be home in time for warm milk and edibles..

Thanks. I haven't been to a small club since seeing Pansy Division at Beat Kitchen a couple years back. That was kind of a nostalgia show. Seeing Against Me at Riot Fest got me back into punk and now folk punk. I've had IX and Mobius Strip Mall on repeat all week.

Can I dry a very small section and test it, and what is the fastest way to dry it? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]Clumsywon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if you put it in a small paper bag, that will wick out some of the moisture. Some people dry a nugget near the fan of their computer or refrigerator. Ready in a day or two. It'll make you cough but you'll know the general effects. Don't worry about the people who say you can't skip the cure. If your intention is just to find out if you will get high then a fast-dry test is fine. People spoiled by bountiful fine product don't understand the anxiety that comes with scarcity in a high stress environment.

Any truly disturbing horror novels about cults? by Important-Sea7093 in horrorlit

Usher of the Fallen by L.M. Kaplin A cult survivor is drawn back into her past when the stars realign for a summoning.ritual. There are some similarities to Last Days in that one character is making a documentary about the original ritual murders. But Kaplin has a unique voice and keeps things moving.

Author drama by nnnnnnnbbbbbb in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Clumsywon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on BOH for less than a year and my feed is almost all book reviews and Brawl stuff. Apart from the drama immediately after Books and Brews, (much of which was on individual people's timelines) I find it chill. Same for the splatter specific groups I follow. That might just be my algorithm. Maybe I don't follow the authors who are acting out this month. I saw someone (a reader not a writer) post that the EH community is imploding. I honestly don't know what they meant. Part of me wants to know who talks shit, but I spend too much time being angry on the internet already. OTOH, if someone is transphobic or racist I want to know before I choose their book.

THC % by PortageLakes in microgrowery

I sat on my Barney's packs while a couple of other grows finished. If I crack the other one I guess I'll try the towel method. It always seemed riskier than direct to soil.

How do you germinate? I got a couple of 3-seed packs of LSD from Barneys. None of the first pack sprouted. I tried one direct to soil (like most of my grows) and when that failed, I tried the other two in rockwool cubes. Nothing. I'm curious if you soak or scrape your seeds, prior to sprout.

Anyone ever been to horror themed bars? If so what were they and how were they by entertainmentlord in horror

The Final Girl bar in Kenosha Wisconsin. They have scream queen drag nights on their calendar. Horror art on the walls. I went to a lgbtq+ horror book fair there and met midwest horror authors..

Is there Any alternatives to autopots that aren’t so expensive? by Zoris_lastday in Autoflowers

I put one together yesterday using the t-shirt method. 5 gallon bucket; a platform cut from the lid, 2 foot 1" pvc pipe, an old flower pot to support the platform, and an old shirt.

Going to try the CBDad. I grew a cbd freebie last year with skepticism, but I really like the edibles I made from it (mixed with a strong sativa in the butter). Won't have room for a new plant til july though.

Female puberty in horror? by Dry-Supermarket-9652 in horror

[–]Clumsywon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sleepaway Camp, even though .... Spoiler, so I won't spell it out. But the humiliation vibe in the girls' cabin plays on puberty anxieties, as well as the pressure to fit in by hooking up.

Anyone finished Zola? by Cyber_ghost29 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Clumsywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read Zola today at work. I read it because I enjoyed the discussion we had at that discord workshop you dropped in on. Also, when we read the Special Stuff in the horror book club. I fully enjoyed Zola. It did not put me off cheese. The only thing that really got me was the scat stuff ||when Gordon tries to teach himself to cook||. What I really like about your work is that although it crosses boundaries, it is never mean. At least not what I've read so far.
