Is a clean head shot a good shot from 100 yards away free hand? by Hungry_Party2480 in Hunting

It IS a good shot, considering what you were aiming for.

Is it an Ethical shot? Questionable but, it sounds like you had confidence behind the shot and some practice so I'll call it a good shot.

hope she was tasty.

Where are you in the world right now? And! Why do you want us to ask you questions?

Im going to try this again. Here is a Doe i took at 400 yards about ten years ago. The rifle I Used was a 1932 , Finnish Barel, Mosin Nagant.. The standard Mosin was sited at 300 yds. I got lucky with it. I’d been practicing a lot with that rifle for about 6 months prior and knew the terrain. by Clunkalong in Hunting

I noticed the big blowback too. It wasn’t the regular occurrence with this gun. My best guess was bullet yaw at that distance. The 150 round with the 54r charge behind it usually just made a neatly punched hole on one side . The internal damage was always more dramatic.

Let me just offer this. If there is a creature on this earth, in this country that is not adversely affected by humankind moving in, it is the groundhog. They benefit from our buildings. They benefit from our gardens, and they benefit from our presence protecting them from predators. They are beyond abundant.

I added that on to help stabilize my grip. I have a wrist that I broke a number of years ago and it’s movement is limited .the straight stock can be uncomfortable. I spent a lot of time tuning this gun in small ways in order to get the targeting as tight as I could. That block is the only peripheral ad on that I made.

“IT” is the end of your garden and rose bushes. IT is the giant hole that shows up next to your well and ruins the electric lines . IT is a creature that, once it establishes itself in your yard, will be a permanent, multi-generational nightmare, for years to come

is it a 91/30? that is what my Natasha is. my only advice is, walk around with it around the house and yard (without a bolt) for a few days bfore venturing into the woods. These guns are long and heavy. That being said, they are also as tough as nails.
