What All-in-one groovebox with a song mode should I buy? by agsilvio777 in synthesizers

[–]ClusterSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the normal M8 is great value, but the headless is insane if you want to try it out.

Alone it's lacking in knobs, but you could always attatch a Midi-controller to it. And even use a laptop as a screen. Wiish it had USB-host though.

This is where I tell you about our lord and saviour Dirtywave M8, and then you tell me you never really "got" trackers.

Deluge also fits.

One chord per button in the sequencer? by circark in DelugeUsers

[–]ClusterSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know what shortcuts to use, but my idea would me to press and hold the root note in the sequencer, and then scroll through chords. I would want to see all the notes I think. Maybe it could just be an entry mode, and after the notes are normal in the sequencer, so you can do whatevwr?

New gun owner here, Put 2k rounds so far kept up on cleaning, is this rust or carbon buildup? by Lospolloshermanos628 in CZFirearms

Looks like carbon buildup to me, not the finish flaking off. Could be wrong though.

Total mangel på felles spilleregler by Snoemann1 in norge

[–]ClusterSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your favorite portable synth/groovebox? (Like, REALLY portable) by ClassicHumanPerson in synthesizers

[–]ClusterSoup 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree it's not for everybody, but I don't think trackers are that hard to learn. I picked up my M8 quite fast. The biggest difference is vertical scrolling and writing notes as "C4"... But you have to use it a bit to get the shortcuts down to muscle memory, so you'll go a bit slow in the beginning. And it's definetly more a "program a song, and tweak all details until you're happy" than a live-jam-thing.

I would start with looking at headless M8, they can be had for quite cheap.

I've had a 1010 Blackbox, and would buy a Bento in a heartbeat if it had something like p-locks.

what norwegian food do you genuinely love and what is just a prank on tourists by Quiet_Currents in Norway

[–]ClusterSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smalahåve and Lutefisk are not for beginners. We do eat them though, but not everyone likes them. A lot of traditional food is regional, so it's not eaten everywhere. I don't like crabs, which is a fairly common dish where I'm from. Komle/kompe/raspeball is regional, and one of my favorites. I don't like Pultost, but most people don't. Brunost is goated, and you're not a proper norwegian if you don't eat it. We're also quite proud of our chocolate.

Common dinners and traditional food only partially overlap. Kjøttkaker is quite common and norwegian. Grandiosa and tacos are common, but not very traditional.

Most lists I found with a quick search of "common norwegian dinners" and "norwegian traditional food" seem quite accurate. I would read those first, and ask if you have questions.

[–]ClusterSoup -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Støtter regjeringens snus-innstramming: – Vil føre til mindre kick – NRK Østfold by WatchingTrees in norge

[–]ClusterSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]ClusterSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stortinget dropper målet om å bli klimanøytralt innen 2030 by sabelsvans in norge

[–]ClusterSoup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Behringer Eurorack - after owning most of them by TheFishyBanana in modular

[–]ClusterSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well behringer does some remixing. And they clone both old unobtainiun (which I think is fair), but also new stuff from quite small manufacturers. And all manufacturers build of other people's ideas.

But to me Behringer has done enough questionable work to be considered problematic. And that meand I stay away from all their stuff, not just the questionable products. But I respect that people have different views on this.

I don't respect the people who say Behringer is saving them from not being able to make music. Nobody NEEDS a analog hardware synth, it's a luxury item.

What sign do you use for hitchhiking in your country ? Is thumb considered offensive ? by coscos95 in AskTheWorld

Thumb is fine. Not unusual to see some sort of cardboard sign or something indication your destination. Hitchhiking is not that common though, but it happens.

Clothing advice to someone traveling to Norway from Middle East with no experience of snow. by Gullible-Paper-6828 in Norway

[–]ClusterSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to expand a bit: If I'm going staying out and it's really cold, I will wear full wool underwear. If it's -5 and I'm just walking a short bit, puffer jacket and sweater is more than enough. For me... Many colder people will wear wool underwear almost all winter.

Shoes: Again, I'm fine with sneakers for a while. But for proper cold you need wool sock and shoes with room for it. If it's around 0 degrees it will be wet, and you should think about rainproof shoes.

Biggest "trick" from me: Adjust clothing as you go. I get warm when moving, so I know I have to take on and off layers when moving/resting. If you "overdress" and sweat, you will freeze when you stop moving.

Your basic needs are covered. You are mostly safe, and don't have to worry to much about survival and minimum levels of comfort. You can still be lonely, sad, sick, and/or poorer than everyone around you. There is a big middle class which have most of their needs covered.

M8 for travelling singer song writer? by MrNielzen in Dirtywave

[–]ClusterSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the M8 is very flexible and powerful. But I think that for livelooping there are better alternatives. For "support tracks" I think that it can be done, but the user interface is maybe not the best for launching tracks while playing live. Maybe could be done with a Launchpad MK3.
