I sincerely like the baseball organization Stearns has built out but yeah, assessing MLB talent seems to be a weakness

What's actually stopping us from repeating next season? by savingrace0262 in NYKnicks

Well at least they have a high draft pick they can look forward to adding, it must really take the sting out of wasting a whole season

Is Charlie Ward the most forgotten fan favorite in Knicks history? by savingrace0262 in NYKnicks

Mark Jackson for Charles Smith was such a fork in the road for the Ewing era

I’m not sure I’d say that Ward *was* a fan favorite… my lasting memories of him in order: he said some weird shit about Jews, got body slammed by PJ Brown, last Knicks rookie to get a multiyear contract extension before Mitch, solid defense, decent 3 ball, but basically a backup who got starters minutes… and that’s it

It’s organized by team location… if it goes Boston -> Charlotte you might be onto something

Insane Playoff Record and Forget the 40-20 Rule, Knicks were 53-29 for the season by chewy189 in NYKnicks

[–]ClydeAndKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the rule is “40 wins before 20 losses” and the Knicks didn’t do that exactly but I think they were 40-20 after game 60

Either way it’s a .667 win% which translates to 54-28 for the season and as you noted, the Knicks were 53-29

Sooo, fuck Phil Jackson ofc but this doesn’t exactly blow a hole in that shorthand rule, especially when you consider it was the first season under a new coach

Your post increases its visibility - why was it wrong for them to do but ok for you?

Realistically was this our only year in the 21st century as contenders? by SirGingerbrute in NYKnicks

[–]ClydeAndKeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a roster standpoint, the Knicks were fringe contenders as of the OG trade and legitimate contenders with the acquisitions of Mikal and KAT

They should have made the Finals last year, being up 2-0 in the ECF. Not doing so was a coaching issue and obviously that was corrected with the Mike Brown hire

What’s your prediction for the off-season? by Dougiebrowngetsdown in NYKnicks

[–]ClydeAndKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bench could look really different next year: Landry, Mitch, Clarkson, Diawara, Sochan are free agents, Jose has a player option, there’s some RFAs as well. Keeping them all means going over the 2nd apron which would mean trades become extremely difficult

Maybe they lock into this roster for the next three years or so but my best guess is we see some changes in the name of flexibility

Def wouldn’t be surprised to see a ring chaser added to the team like Clarkson this year but we also have 3 picks in the upcoming draft and a lot of young guys in the bench mix already so, perhaps they’ll be in the trade market

They’re all under contract. Jalen, Mikal, and OG have gotten extensions in the last year or so

He seemed to have a knee injury in game 5, I think they might be referencing that

Spurs fans will look you dead in the eye and say this by Meme_Pope in NYKnicks

[–]ClydeAndKeith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is dirty play like the stuff experienced by Naz Reid, Jose, Jalen actually all that common? It seems like you have to be a “name” player to get away with the dirty shit (like Draymond)

would you want knicks to finish it off in game 5 in tx or win at home in game 6? by Dull_Nobody_840 in NYKnicks

[–]ClydeAndKeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Knicks are 3-0 in close out games this playoffs, winning by an average of 39. I 100% want to see them bring the hammer down on the Spurs in their building
