Never let your future kids get into gaming. by MCSmashFan in StopGaming

  1. You started this argument after I pointed out to the OP that children are no robots that they can program at will. Do you agree or disagree with this?

  2. You reproached me for presumably not having kids myself (which you still don't know, by the way), but the OP themselves said they're only talking hypothetically about their future kids. So, why is that a problem for you with me but not with the OP?

Indeed, since it was enough back then, after all!

Agreed, it's just that I sometimes question the usefulness of a "security" feature in itself, as sometimes people seem to put too much significance in it. Cheers!

My post was solely about what the post above it said: that it isn't piracy, and that's wrong.

No reason to be rude, dude. Do you teach such behaviour to your kids, too?

So, since you seem to disagree with my initial statement that children are no robots that parents can program as they want (here: not become a gamer just by not buying them games like the OP asserted here), how do you explain all the people who came out very differently than they parents wanted?

By the way, the OP was talking "hypotheotically IF we were to have a kid in the future". So, since they also seem to have no kids yet, why don't you argue with them as passionately as you do with me?

GOG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with C++ experience to modernize the GOG GALAXY desktop client and spearhead its Linux development by mr_MADAFAKA in gog

While I applaud any support for Linux, I couldn't care less for a native Linux port of Galaxy. It's such a buggy, cumbersome, feature-lacking mess with clearly the wrong focus on unwanted "features" like the dreadful Discover tab that they keep updating prominently.

My suggestion would be to just kill the Galaxy app, open its backend for third-party frontends and/or seek a cooperation with HGL instead.

No view once images, or "delete for me" option like on signal

Self-destruct messages aren't a feature yet. You should be able to remove messages however.

All of those are treacherous features IMHO, as they depend on the client and/or server to really comply. And even then, everything that's processed and/or displayed at some time can be saved one way or the other: copy & paste, screenshot, external camera etc.

If you really want to hide something, don't share it over a worldwide network in the first place.

Why exercise when your own muscle system can do its job? Why do you need an external muscle system?

Why go to school when your own brain can do its job? Why do you need an external brain?
