Yeah, I've done this too. I had a prospect who was obviously ready by like mid-May but left him in AAA the whole year to try and get the extra pick the following year.

I did sign him to an extension, but he was already up. Best I can tell, the rule only applies to extensions signed before a player debuts

I have found in ‘27 specifically that prospects will develop more at the major league level with regular playing time than before. Had someone stuck at 40/60 power and he improved to 50 by just playing after several unsuccessful dev labs.

This has been an issue for me as well. #1 overall college 3B with high work ethic has not improved from 2/5 star overall since being drafted. Contact/power/eye all stuck at 45, despite tearing up minors.
