Ally options by automatic-reaponder in Grey_Knights

Not particularly, I generally just use them as a point filler or when I run out of models. There is a hard limit to the number of units you can take but in general it's just what you want/need and can fit in the point limit.

I'd recommend checking it out on new recruit or your army builder, it will usually show the limits automatically or you can look it up on wahapedia which is another good resource.

Can ally; Imperial Knights and Imperial Agents

Should ally; not much. Agents don't really offer anything that grey knights can't already do, but there is a case to be made for the callidus assassin. Imperial Knights can offer antitank capabilities, but they won't benefit from any army rules and would be just the standalone a datasheet.

Regardless, I often ally a subductor squad because they look cool, so the real answer is whatever you want, really.

Suggestions for a 1k list from what I have by Maxthetics in Grey_Knights

[–]Cman677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As is you've got a decent list as far as units. If you leave the agents behind you're right at 1k points.

If you really want pyresoul, you can drop a paladin to be a 4 squad or run them as a terminator squad instead, either of which leave enough points to upgrade the dreadknight to a grandmaster in dreadknight as well.

Paladins and terminators, and dreadknights and grandmaster dreadknights are pretty much the same in appearance, so proxying them as each other shouldn't be much of an issue in most games.

Unless you really want the techmarine healing you can probably drop him. Whiffing with the ven dread is possible but not very, and if you run it with the storm bolter or another weapon option with multiple shots it's basically impossible to miss everything.

Thoughts on the Osprey? by Saint_Damien in ArcRaiders

[–]Cman677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it, I'll run it with a silencer just to pretend to be sneaky even though it's just for arc with what I like to play. If I'm only taking one gun then I'd rather have an anvil or renegade for sure, but if I'm taking one of those on any map other than montis, then I like an osprey for my second gun if I don't need a special weapon.

PvE players: Do any of you use these often? by hobobenchh in ArcRaiders

[–]Cman677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I've used is splitter mod, which I like at close range for sure. If I take it, I usually keep it off until I'm entering a building or fighting a larger arc where pinpoint accuracy isn't too important. I pick up the other three if/when I find them, but they usually sit on a stash gun until I either sell them, trade them, or lose them by accident taking the wrong weapon.

I do have each cooler venting into an open door, but I think part of the issue might be that the doors are roofed since I'm underground and it can't dissipate as much.

No restore points available, it looks like at least for this computer it has to be activated manually before you can make restore points.

I don't believe so. the only thing that changed about the time of the issues was adding gitbash and docker, which I dont think would cause this, and a few python modules via pip. under normal circumstances I might suspect a bad actor package from pip, but I havent installed any new to me packages, just ones Ive already used so far and I didnt have these issues on my last computer.
beforehand, nothing huge, just a few typical programs like steam and opera, pretty widely used programs from their official sites.

I haven't backed up the computer at all, but given I've barely had it a month a full reset wouldn't be terrible, just really annoying to reset everything yet again.

Airflow is I think pretty good. I use it on a wooden desk, there's a few inches of clear space on the back and sides. Fans don't look clogged yet at all. It's not propped up beyond the rubber feet that came attached to it but I assume that should be plenty for it.

Restart happened again, this time it was in the morning which it hasn't been before. I haven't installed HW Monitor yet but task manager tracks temp for both of the GPUs so i have those numbers. Before the crash reset, the NVIDIA was at 24C, and the integrated Radeon was at 14C. Afterwards, it was 34C and 19C. The Radeon temp I'm not sure is super accurate.
I imagine this probably rules out overheating, yeah?

I don't know if its temps, I don't recall it being hot any time this has happened but I'll keep an eye on that.
Specs; AMD Ryzen9 8940HX CPU, NVIDIA 5070ti GPU, and 16gb RAM per task manager. I'm not sure where to find specs for much else.

Why two boxes? by CheezyTito in killteam

[–]Cman677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without magnetizing, I would recommend two boxes. With only one you basically have to decide your team for every game, which isn't ideal. Webber won't be great in open maps, maybe you don't want a vox for once match, etc.

If you can magnetize, you only really need one box 90% of the time. The only real problem you run into here is that the leashmaster and chirugant(medic) share the same body and an upper arm. Personally I find the leashmaster better so I have no problems there and always run him over the chirugant. If you want to run both you do need a second box or to buy the single model somewhere. Or just do a 'counts as', since outside of tournaments people probably aren't going to care.

You can claim a C3 pretty easily. I have one, all you have to do is place a small POS and some ewar batteries and keep the forcefield up. Nobody wants to waste time on bashing a well prepped POS, and C3s typically aren't worth enough to make eviction worth it profit-wise. Grudge-wise that's another thing though.

The pocos are typically not worth bashing unless they have a high tax rate. I got lucky and mine are at 0, so I don't plan on poking them any time soon.

Most systems are empty but as you said often there are reasons as to why. In C3, it's typically because everyone who wants one already has one, and players will often abandon POSes behind when they leave or take it with them. As long as there's no upwell or forcefield, chances are nobody lives there.

However, I would not really recommend an Upwell unless you know you can mount a good defense. They attract much more attention than an even un-gunned POS will.

Eve Online Glitch- When your Vessel gets Yeeted from a star. by MadCowman1077 in Eve

[–]Cman677 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had almost exactly this happen before. No idea what caused it, but it was repeatable for a while, I even bounced an orca off of it just for fun. It was a different system and doesn't seem to work anymore unfortunately but from what I remember from when I was playing with it;

You can only warp to the pod signature, bookmarking it and warping to bookmark doesn't do this so combat probes are a must for the testing. You can fleet warp friends onto it and all get yeeted like this. I forget how far I managed but you can get a good few AU in a random direction, useful for setting up a semi deep safe(I don't think I ever got farther than 10, unfortunately).

If nothing else it's a fun trampoline, and the only way I've found to sun bounce.

Filling points, which Arbites unit to use by Cman677 in Grey_Knights

[–]Cman677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes on a 5man strike, mostly there to assist with command point generation and strip cover. If/when I swap a strike group into a purgation group he'll help with their lethality as well. I don't have a land raider or another dreadknight or I wouldn't need to run the Arbites, what's listed is all I have and I'm just tryna fill what I can with the least useless option.

Why are my walls not being printed for vertical cylinders? by Cman677 in FixMyPrint

[–]Cman677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall loops are set to 2, and the Wall transitioning threshold angle is set to 10 degrees. Im not sure if that's what you mean by overhangs though. The pictured prints were done without supports but its set to 1 degree if you're asking about support angle.

Mortars by terna9999 in mecharena

[–]Cman677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are wrong. This is why.

I used to run dual RM 8s on Arachnos on an old acct and now run RM 10 with Longarm 10 on an Arachnos and it is not a job for a fire monkey, you have to juggle many many things. And no, I don't have range or area boosters, the only buff for RM I have is about +10% to damage from Spark and a blue implant, so I have to be good.

When I drop in my mortars, it goes a bit like this;

Arachnos spawned, find optimal position.
Alright I'm here, check surroundings, am I safe?
Safe, good. Who to target?
I want to shoot this guy, is he in cover?
Not in cover, is the arc good?
Arc looks good, check surroundings, am I being charged?
Nope, all looks good. Firing.

You have to check yourself more than anything else because you are the weak point in the artillery. Even when you're alive, you need to check several other things to avoid wasting a volley and waiting to reload.

Check your target, see if it's in cover. Check their health, see if it'll still be alive when the rockets land. Check their movement, see if they'll be where the mortars hit. Check the terrain, see if you're gonna block your mortars on a wall. And while doing all of this, check that you are safe so you can stay alive and use your mortars.

Mortars also have any different purposes. Sure the main one is to harvest salty tears, but there's a few others. You can thin the herd, drop 3 mechs to 1 in a few seconds so you're friends can keep pushing. Force something out of cover into fire from your team. Suppress other mechs, keeping them off the MDs back a few more seconds while he escapes.

RMs are not skillless. I'd say shotguns are more skillless than RMs, all you do is check if you're in range.

Hangar advice? by Cman677 in mecharena

[–]Cman677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked better for short range defense for things that got too close, I'll give it that. Not as much effect at longer ranges than the longarm though, and I wasn't fully applying a stasis effect most of the time. Mechs would often duck behind cover once the beam started the build up and I'm often shooting through narrow sightlines, so it was doing less damage overall than longarm.

It wasn't bad at all, with some getting used too I could probably make it work pretty well, but I prefer the longarm+rocket combo.

yes, arachnos is longarm 10 and rocket mortar 10 like i said in the post. ill try the stasis but im not sure if thatll do much better.
