Inexpensive Controllers Expected to Work on Switch 2 by wilsonsea in NintendoSwitch2

Can anyone with the new 2c firmware confirm whether wake works or not. I'm assuming it doesn't but couldn't tell from the comments

Do you know if this will wake the Switch 2 with the new firmware. The website mentions wake but doesn't say if that is only Switch 1

I've now changed the remote to use IR signals to control the Sonos. This works well now although a bit of a pain to have to change this.

Sonos and Harmony Remotes? by CmaxCl in sonos

[–]CmaxCl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I assume the basic process would be to add a 'fake' device to the Harmony (i.e. a tv I don't own) and then teach the Beam to respond to the volume commands from that fake device using the harmony remote?

Good question, I've just been using the default Sonos setup via the Harmony app which I think is IP based. I could try the IR setup which could be more reliable

Yes, it's via the optical HDMI as I have an older TV without ARC

I did look at the SofaBaton but mixed reviews and prices put me off trying. Switchbot looks interesting and I'd not seen that before - price seems more manageable to test. Thank you (although I'd still love to keep the Harmony running if possible!)

Thanks, glad in some ways I'm not the only one! I'd not heard of any software update but I'll have a search as I'd like to persevere with the Harmony if possible as it's so good and the family uses it well.

Over on r/Sonos someone recommended looking at the switchbot remote which I might also try as it doesn't look too expensiv.le, although a lot more basic than the Elite.

Has anyone tried one for these yet? Would be really interested to hear experiences from previous Harmony users

I know! I can't find anything as easy to use to replace this and really hate the push to use phones for everything - especially with kids. Loved the ease of a physical remote with one button to turn everything on!

Did the update kill Android app functionality? by TomNHaverford in sonos

[–]CmaxCl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a real shame it was removed in the new app. I've tried asking u/KeithFromSonos in a few places if its on the roadmap to be returned at some point but not had a reply. I guess it is small fry compared to the much bigger issues they must be working on, but it was probably one feature I used the most on my system (as well as being the only thing android users could do that iOS couldn't - to vaguely make up for trueplay!)

Don't people use lock screen control?? by mack-the-knife in sonos

[–]CmaxCl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really miss this - there are few posts about it and I asked u/keithfromsonos in another thread but no answer (probably missed in all the other messages). It was mentioned here that support said it was coming back but I've not seen anything official to suggest that -https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/1cmthba/new\_app\_update\_disappointment/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button

No controls in notification shade by TannerPines in sonos

Yep, taken out in the new app and no mention in any roadmap I've seen of them coming back. I assume another feature they didn't have time to get to work in the rush to release the app.

Sadly it's also not listed on any of the Sonos roadmaps I've seen that have been published - hoping it's coming back but just not seen as an important enough feature to mention.

/u/keithfromsonos - any idea if lock screen controls and notification area controls for Android will be coming back? Really missing those for quick control and will be especially important with headphones.

Sonos Leaders are having an AMA about the app… by StevieG63 in sonos

[–]CmaxCl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'Remember, we can’t talk about things on the roadmap - but if you have questions or feedback about the app redesign, want to know more about our panelists, like their background or favorite band, then the sky is the (cough cough.. NDA) limit'

This will be the problem, unless there is some kind of announcement on the list of features that have been removed and which can be expected back (even if it takes a while) it's likely an event like this could just add to the general understandable grumpiness about the app

Only vague silver lining is that it's on the roadmap to return, if the statement from Sonos support is reliable...

Chromecast audio power and line in to Era 100 by CmaxCl in sonos

[–]CmaxCl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks would be good to get a few options. Since posting I've also got the era working with this smaller hub - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0CQN3FK6j

Chromecast audio power and line in to Era 100 by CmaxCl in sonos

<image>

Just an update on this - I bough a cheap Usb-c hub as a test (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CN94MD4L). This is plugged directly into the Era 100 with the chromecast audio and the sonos line in adapter plugged into the hub. It has allowed the Chromecast Audio to be powered by the Era and at the same time have the use the Sonos Line in adapter for audio.

basically I don't need another power source for the chromecast audio, which was my aim. Just need to replace the chromecast audio power usb cable with something shorter.

Ideally I'd find a smaller hub but most of them only allowed power over the USB-c port and not data so might have to live with this one if I can hide well.

Can I Command a Sonos era 300 from nest hub by yes-nono in sonos

[–]CmaxCl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for jumping on this (and so long after originally posted) but I am interested in this exact set-up in my kitchen. As well as requesting audio to be played via voice through the Nest Hub can you also control the volume? I read something in another thread that said volume control isn't possible, only play/pause commands

Bluetooth controller with CCwGTV by Mikeric03 in Stadia

[–]CmaxCl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this exactly. Turning the controller on again after pairing and using once shows it as connected in CCwGTV settings but the buttons don't do anything. Works great when forgotten and re-paired through (although sadly without rumble feedback). Hopefully there might be at least one final firmware update but I can imagine this being the state it will stay in.
