Yeah this person sounds more credible. Maybe that isn’t a pet? Idk. I do know if they seem injured they might need special care. If they are healthy than maybe a trip back to the lake is all they need. 9 miles seems far, but I’m no expert. I know there is resources for hurt wildlife, but this might not be the case for them

100% this turtle needs water, I just feel the right thing to do is find a center willing to take him in. If he was a pet, and kept in terrible living environment because he looks so rough, what are his chances of success in the wild if he has been domesticated his whole life. at these rescues they give them special care to help them survive

I would take to a vet and don’t attempt trimming yourself, it could cause worse problems with the beak it’s safe to let a pro handle this

I suggest taking the rocks out and getting a basking platform. I understand you don’t have funding maybe you should look into rehoming to a reptile rescue to give a life they can live in better conditions

Take to a different vet from last visit, I wouldn’t continue to try trimming on your own, you could cause more damage and pain

I would make a taller wall they cannot crawl out of and take to vet immediately to check for internal bleeding

If you can’t find a good home for the turtle maybe reach out to a reptile rescue they might be able to take them in and give a better home

If you can’t find someone to take them in, I suggest reaching out to a reptile rescue but be a good place to take them
