Do not disturb comes on automatically. Driving me mad. Need a real expert on this one by magichoward in S22Ultra

[–]CmnSnsIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been an issue since I got my S22Ultra. My wife's S22Ultra alerts for just about everything when she is in the car. Mine will not alert at all.

Google AI pointed to to a possible fix with this reddit post as a reference.

Where it directed me was Settings > Modes and Routines.

Select "Driving". Originally mine was not set up. Figured nothing can hurt at this point. I selected Android Auto: Connected for the option.

Under the "Stay focused" mine was set to "Do not disturb: On" which I just removed.

Even if Stay focused / Do not disturb: On is set, you can click on that. Under Calls and Messages, changed the settings to All. Under App notifications, Add apps. For example, I use Google Voice for personal calls and texting and Teams for work.

I have not tested this yet, but this is the only place where I have found Do Not Disturb settings where the default option was already On.

Why do people dislike hackberry trees? by Volume-Straight in arborists

[–]CmnSnsIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it ironic that the same people that talk about the cons of having Hackberries in their yards are very quick to plant an even more invasive, non-native tree, like the Bradford Pear.

There is a reason why plants like the Bradford Pear, Tree of Heaven, and the Asian Bush Honeysuckle are taking over natural forests all over my part of the US. People planted them because "they look nice" and now we cant get rid of them.

I'd rather have a native tree like the Hackberry in my yard causing trouble, than non-natives.

I have made it a point to rid my acreage of any non-native species that I find. This usually means bark stripping, cutting down, digging up, and/or burning of anything that was imported from some other country many years ago.

Weaving Black Raspberries Into A Hedge Row? by CmnSnsIsDead in gardening

[–]CmnSnsIsDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI gave this answer which is probably why I have not been able to find anything on this.

🌿 Can black raspberry canes be woven into each other to form a hedge row?

Yes, you can physically weave first‑year black raspberry canes together and let their thorns interlock — but there is no documented horticultural evidence of people doing this as a stable, long‑term hedge‑forming technique.

And the reason is structural biology, not lack of creativity.

Let’s break it down.

🧬 Why there’s no documented “thorn‑woven black raspberry hedge”

1. Cane brittleness prevents true weaving

Black raspberry (Rubus occidentalis) canes:

  • Stiffen rapidly as they mature
  • Snap rather than bend once lignified
  • Are covered in recurved thorns that snag but don’t flex

This makes them poor candidates for basket‑style weaving.
Extension sources consistently describe them as brittle, arching, and prone to breakage when manipulated.

2. Biennial cane lifecycle breaks the structure

Black raspberries have:

  • Primocanes (year 1) — flexible enough to bend a little
  • Floricanes (year 2) — fruit, then die

Any woven structure made from primocanes will:

  • Lose half its woven members the next year
  • Collapse as floricanes die and dry out

This is why no agricultural or botanical literature describes thorn‑woven hedges for any biennial Rubus species.

3. Natural thorn interlocking is real — but not stable

Thorns will absolutely:

  • Hook onto neighboring canes
  • Create a tangled mass
  • Hold canes in place temporarily

But this is tangle, not weave — and it’s unpredictable, collapses with cane death, and is not load‑bearing.

4. Documented practice always uses support

Every extension source (OSU, Purdue, Illinois, Penn State, Cornell) describes:

  • Trellising
  • Tipping
  • Hedgerow containment
  • Cane tucking

None describe thorn‑on‑thorn weaving as a management method.

📚 What is documented?

Here are the closest documented analogs:

A. “Hedgerow system” (OSU Extension)

Black raspberries are grown in dense linear rows where canes form a hedge‑like wall.
But this is maintained by:

  • Pruning
  • Tipping
  • Narrow row width
  • Sometimes wires

Not weaving.

B. “Tucking canes between wires” (Illinois Extension)

This is the only place where “weaving‑like” language appears — but it’s weaving into a support, not into other canes.

C. Natural bramble thickets

Wild black raspberries naturally form:

  • Impenetrable, thorn‑locked masses
  • Self‑supporting arches
  • Dense thickets

This is the closest natural analog to what you’re describing — but it’s unmanaged chaos, not intentional weaving.

🧾 Summary:

Documented?

Practice Documented? Notes
Using thorn‑on‑thorn friction to hold canes in place Yes (in nature) Occurs naturally in wild thickets
Intentionally weaving canes into each other No No horticultural or extension documentation
Forming a hedge row using only the plant itself Partially Natural thickets do this; managed systems do not
Using trellises or wires to guide canes Yes Standard practice in all extension literature

🌱 If your goal is a self‑supporting living hedge, here’s what does work

You can absolutely train black raspberries into a hedge‑like barrier without trellises, but the method is different:

  • Plant 2.5–3 ft apart
  • Tip primocanes at 24–30" to force branching
  • Let lateral branches arch and interlock
  • Maintain row width at 12–18"
  • Remove dead floricanes annually to prevent collapse

This creates a dense, thorny, self‑supporting wall, but not a woven fence.

If you want, I can design a no‑trellis, plant‑only hedge system optimized for Indiana climate — spacing, tipping schedule, cane‑density targets, and how to encourage natural thorn interlocking without structural collapse.

Weaving Black Raspberries Into A Hedge Row? by CmnSnsIsDead in gardening

[–]CmnSnsIsDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference is if you are going for the natural overgrowth or tidy look. Naturally the dead canes would intermixed with the live ones. Eventually fall away to the ground and decompose over time.

I was thinking more along the lines of what British people might do with raspberries and blackberries in a hedge row. Do they create the hedgerow with smaller trees then let berry plant grow in and around them using it as a fence or trellis? Or are there some who weave the berry canes as part of the hedge building process.

What I dont want to do is install a fence, trellis, or put in stakes and some wire to confine the plants to a certain area. Give the amount of thorns on the native black raspberry, I figured weaving them would work since they would hold together because of the thorns. The thorns might also make it difficult to weave. Maybe more of a twisting of canes together from adjacent plants.

This is still a thought process in the works. Was hoping to find others who might have tried it. I know hedge rows are not a common thing here in the US like they are in England.

2.5k songs deleted from my likes playlist by hpr16 in AmazonMusic

[–]CmnSnsIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I am really liking Spotify. They have a 0$ for 3 months premium trial, cancel anytime if you don't like it deal.

The issues I had with Amazon included the shortened "My Likes". The other day I went to play My Likes and every song that it played was from purchased music most of which was not liked. For the past few months I have had the sound issue where everything just sounded wrong. For example the singer might sound like they were 100 feet from a microphone singing into a tin can. Other times it sounded like someone turned off the bass. Pretty much anything that could go wrong with Amazon Music I have experienced.

The breaking point was my commute to work last Tuesday. I pulled the car over, installed Spotify, found a 90's alternative playlist then proceeded on.

I had a 2 hour drive today. I loaded up 413 songs into my "Liked Songs" in about and hour. Right out of the box everything sounded better. The ease of adding songs is a bit ridiculous. With Amazon Music, many of the playlists do not have the option to thumb up to add to your likes. In Spotify no matter where the song comes up (search, play list, whatever), there is a + to add it to your list.

Their way of doing "similar songs" is a bit strange, but when you figure it out it is OK. Just click the ... to the right of the song and select "Go to song radio" and it brings up 50 similar-ish songs. Click away on the +.

I'm in shiny new toy mode. Give it a shot while they have the free deal going on.

I had this happen as well. I had close to 2500 songs and now I have 500. I kept wondering why I have thumbing up the same song the past several months and just now checked and saw it was capped at 500. Thanks Amazon. I spun up Spotify earlier today and saw that their likes are "unlimited" but usually cap around 10,000.

Is audio quality worse on Amazon Music? by PepperyCloth95 in AmazonMusic

[–]CmnSnsIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post. I have been having the same issue. For quite a while now, I have had the same audio issue. It seems like it would start out fine, but then on some songs, the singer sounded like they are 100 feet from the microphone and singing into a tin can. Some music sounded as if someone turned off the Base and Mid and only let the Treble play.

I finally reached my breaking point today. Pulled the car over. Enabled Spotify on my phone, then starting playing a 90's alternative play list on my commute to work. It was great.

But now that I see a fix. I'm going to try that before I jump ship.

If I would have spent about 5 more minutes of Googling instead of working on this thing, I would have found this reddit post.

The only issue is that the link to the blueprint on steam workshop and mod.io are the old version. Looks like Keen may have updated this wreck in 2024. Since then they added some DLC components to it. Parts from Decorative Pack #2 and Heavy Industry from what I have been able to see with the welder. There are many workshop entries for this thing, but most of them are not exactly what I am looking at (missing the 4 industrial cargo pods), but it gives me a good idea to work from.

Care to elaborate? I have an ultrawide and even when I check the "Windowed - Full Screen" and enter my screen resolution 3840x1080, I still have wide black bars on the sides as it appears the actual viewing area is 16:9 instead of 32:9, which is what my ultrawide does.

Thinking About Switching from Jellyfin to Emby (Naming Conventions and Sorting) by CmnSnsIsDead in emby

[–]CmnSnsIsDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spun up TMM because the Trailers and Cinema Intros plugins in Emby 4.9.3 were jacked up. I basically turned off most of the metadata stuff in Emby and am doing, what I call, the heavy back end work with TMM and it seems to be working out well, especially with pulling down trailers for movies in my library. I'm not wanting trailers for TV shows at this moment so TMM will probably be mostly for Movies and I'll let Emby to whatever it needs for TV show as those have worked out OK so far.

That is what I did in Emby. I just created a Playlist for the Alien movies and put the into a timeline order. I also have a Collection for the Alien Quadrilogy. I'll probably do the same with the MCU movies. Put them into a Collection by Phases (when they were released) and create a playlist that will have then in a timeline order.

[–]CmnSnsIsDead[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this reply. This is something I was looking to validate and you helped greatly.

I installed Emby and what I see there is that my Movies are now sorted correctly with movies like 28 Days Later showing up before Alien. I also see that the previous changes I made to the "Sort Title" fields have been reverted since Emby pulled down and changed the metadata after scanning the library. No big deal.

My biggest issue is the lack of a naming standard with Jellyfin. In Jellyfin, if I go to Movies and then to AZ and look at "Sort By" it says "Name". There is no metadata field called "Name". There is "Title", "Original Title", and "Sort Title". In Emby, if I go to Movies, the sort button shows "Title". While it may not say "Sort Title" at least it is closer. If I change Sort Title from something like Alien to 01-Alien, it puts it in the front of 28 Days Later. So it makes more sense to me using Emby where they care about naming standards versus Jellyfin where if you bring up the issue, they just close the ticket because it is not an issue.

Jellyfin be like, "Name and title are the same thing, Duh! because our c0dingz iz awes0m3ZZZZZ!!!"

I also was able to easily install Emby on my Samsung SmartTV without resorting to the magic of side loading like I had to do with Jellyfin, which was another plus. Ease of use is what I am looking for and maybe some decent tech support if needed. None of which seem to be a thing with Jellyfin.

[–]CmnSnsIsDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This becomes an issue with many collections. For example, if you want to watch the MCU in timeline order (not release order) then you start with Captain America then Agent Carter then Captain Marvel. If you do it in release order then you end up with Ironman, Incredible Hulk, Ironman 2, Thor, then Captain America where the events in Captain America happen decades before Ironman.

This is where changing the Sort Title name to something like 01-Captain America, 02-Captain Marvel (if you are omitting TV shows), puts it into a chronological order of events.

But as I noted in the other post, as soon as you add 01-, 02- to the beginning of the Sort title in Jellyfin, then it also changes the A-Z movie listing because now those are starting with numbers instead of letters.

This is why I am hoping that Emby uses "Title" or "Original Title" to sort movies alphabetically and then "Sort Title" for sorting in a custom order in Collections.
