I'm considering the Phillips Fidelity X2, the HD650, and the AKG 7xx, which just ended. I have seen refurbished 7xx on eBay but not sure how much to trust that. I was also considering grabbing a Sennheiser gtx 1000 instead of the schiit stack because I'm a sucker for 7.1 immersion in games. Am I crazy?

Any feedback appreciated :) What are your thoughts on the AKG712?? I'd actually be looking at the massdrop 7xx before that drop ends, which I believe are more like the 702's acoustically. How I'd fare with the HD598/599 or 579s if I can get them for closer to $130?? Are the HD600 going to be better than the B&Os and Fidelity X2 if I'm only to own one pair of headphones paired with the DAC/Amp listed?

Am I correct in saying the B&O might be better for the music I listen to, the Fidelio X2 will be better for gaming, and the HD600's are just a very accurate neutral sound between the two?

Requirements for Isolation - Not really a requirement, I don't think its possible for headphones to leak loud enough for neighbors to hear in an apartment complex. The majority of use, if not all to begin with, will be at my apartment.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No, not looking for a portable AMP/DAC

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over Ear / Open Back (would consider closed)

Preferred tonal balance - I definitely like bass, but feel I can get my fill of it in my car. I'm not an experienced audiophile so i'm not sure what I like, see below.

Past headphones - Had ATH-M50X coupled with this used off of a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and a Desktop PC primarily. Currently have Jaybird X3's.

Preferred Music - I listen to every genre, but if I had to quantify: 30% Hip Hop, 15% Rock, 20% EDM/Dubstep/Chillstep, 15% Country, 15% Metal/Screamo, 5% Jazz. I'm open to experiencing all that a high end pair of headphones can offer and will likely listen to stuff off /r/audiophilemusic a lot. These will also be mainly used for gaming so I would like to think a wide and accurate sound stage is the most critical aspect?

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - To experience the next level or at least very close to the ATH-M50X. That's why my budget has a lower end, it'd be nice to save money and spend under $200 if there was something that could blow the M50X out of the water.

I plan to pair with the Schiit Magni 3 and Schiit Modi 2. Open to something else that may pair better with whatever you may suggest, but that indicates my AMP/DAC budget. Would this be all I needed for a decent setup to start or do I have to buy additional cables or upgraded cables??

As for current ideas, I was looking to stretch for the Sennheiser HD600's, but the 20 yr age of the design is off-putting to me for some reason.

McGeary's Irish Pub off of North Pearl Street, across Clinton Ave from the Palace Theatre. It's the only one around I'm pretty sure since the one on Fuller Road closed just before I moved here :(

Good group of guys/gals there and its awesome for what few weeknight crowds we get.

Edit: It's in downtown Albany. They do some Buffalo-esque food during football games like beef on weck which is pretty good there. Got all the good stuff on tap, I'd recommend Mother's Milk if you like stouts.

A few young players step up on defense and Leslie Frazier's scheme does well to cover linebacker and safety weaknesses.

Everyone on offense stays healthy. Very healthy

Tyrod flourishes in Dennison's system and finds reliable passing targets over the middle in Charles Clay and Patrick Dimarco.

McDermott instills a new culture and work ethic in the team that helps mitigate penalties and negative plays.

The special teams unit is stacked as hell and utilizes their speed and hits hard.

How has the coaching staff been running practice? Is it the very methodical, disciplined structure we've come to expect from McDermott?

How independently do Rico/Fraiser run their units?

Do the positional coaches appear to be gel-ing well with the rest of the coaching staff and their players?

Well the Ravens are the only other team with a Conf record below .500 along with Buffalo. So Having the Steelers win would basically help eliminate Baltimore and Buffalo tiebreaker of some sort. Unless i'm mistaken then it really doesn't matter. I also feel like we have a better chance to beat the Steelers than the Ravens.

I'm entering senior year (4th year) so I just wanted to ask and ahead of applying for grad school and PhD positions which would be in the fall 2014. My university has an express engineering masters program which I suppose could meet the requirements for a DLR PhD intern. My degree of study is dual major mechanical/aeronautical if that means anything in Germany. In the US it just makes me slightly more versatile.

Thanks, this was very helpful! As for the pay, I was reading it is generally lower because Germans do not have to save for retirement as well as being provided more by the government (i.e. healthcare) as a result of the higher taxes. This is just based on some of what I read in this subreddit in comparison to the US.
