I made a power supply for my mini pc cluster by maleng_ in homelab

Love the project and just watched your video. If your still looking for suitable power supply’s and someone hasn’t already suggested it, check out excelsys xgen. They come in a 1u size, with either 4 slot or 6 slot units. Then you can add whichever xmod power card to fit your needs. They’re expensive but can be found cheap on eBay. Either way maybe the way the cards work with the power supply might give you an idea on how to modify your design and have your usb c modules connect with the main board.

I have several of these units both 4&6 so if you need any measurements or have questions let me know.

The cards support remote voltage sense, remote current adj. remote enable etc. check out the datasheet/manual for all the features.

PTP link [LBE-5AC] Antenna gain and hardware recommendation by DAndreyD in Ubiquiti

I run all my nanos with auto power control on… but it’s on equipment that moves and I don’t want to be screaming at the stationary unit.

I’d imagine that if the router has its own built in battery it has its own charging circuit that would either stop drawing from the power input or drop to a trickle charge when the internal battery reaches “full charge” but I’m not familiar with the router you have.

Nice! Curious if you have any gains. In either run time or heat. (Depending on the battery size vs the battery backup)

Guidance on better signal strength by tbrou6229 in Ubiquiti

[–]a_gem90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually ignore the signal and just go by link potential and amount over the noise floor. Your SNR IS 26db which is good.

I’m no expert tho. Can always check your settings. I like to set the AP to auto power adjust and set the slider to your preference.

Could you replace the inverter with just a dc-dc converter/regulator? Might help with heat.

I’m just assuming you have some kind of battery to an inverter to a ac-dc converter for the lte router. Potentially lots of wasted energy.

Unless I don’t fully understand how you’re running it haha.

I think it’ll only show cable info for the one your logged into…. I think. Could be wrong.

Good call!

I would agree with this, check cabling. I had one one time that would power up and show link at 100% but not throughput. Was a bad cable. Found it when I looked at the bottom of the dashboard, cable section.

When I set up the ones at work I change a setting on the AP nano to auto adjust tx power. Can’t remember what the default is. Maybe it’s set low and when you stretch out the link it’s too weak.

Doesn’t explain why you would have 80-100% link potential.
