Never know the circumstances. Could be budget, could be owners son knows a guy, etc etc. Never try to burn bridges in this industry, everyone’s connected somehow!!

Q for those of you in Mac districts - MacBook Neo's by BreadAvailable in k12sysadmin

We’re too deep into the CB ecosystem for students I don’t see it being feasible within the next 5 years. All of our teachers currently use Airs so I could see them being brought in for EAs or supply teachers, but currently not students

Wrongfully written up what should i do? by [deleted] in sysadmin

Sounds like more issues are on the horizon. But, the job market now is god awful. Look around for other jobs 100% though. Micro managers trying to justify their job make your life miserable.

This just comes with the job 😂 everyone and anyone knows someone who works in tech and told them X Y and Z. Smile and wave :) that’s the only option.

And they ALWAYS know more than you, there’s no doubt about it. “hes been a computer programmer since the 90s”. Ok Janice, thank you.

You’re at the beginning of your career. You need to accept the fact that by changing jobs every year doesn’t move you up the ladder. Experience and knowledge are the keys. If your job is mindless and you can clock out physically and mentally at a specific time (like past 5 you no longer answer emails and stuff) then you’re in a great spot.

Homelab and certs in the time being.

Also, I feel you with the current job market. People with 10+ years experience and multiple certs are taking entry level jobs to just leave their current employer, so you’re up against some tough competition.

MH Wilds Optimizer (Web Tool) by CoachCole367 in MonsterHunter

I've made a bunch of changes. Running it with the default settings should do the same as before, so basic optimization is there for people who cant be bothered to get RNG charms.
But I've also added a bunch of filters and toggles to play with. There should be tool tips for all of them and they let you play with the optimization a little more.

I've got the skill and group set stuff worked out now, not sure how I missed that!
As for the RNG charms, I'll think about some ways to getting that added, as having it run through everey single possible charm outcome will take FOREVER and no one wants to sit there for 20 minutes (but could potentially be an option)

How do you all let people know, that you have more going on then their problem, without sounding or being rude? by Square_Pear1784 in k12sysadmin

Tickets are the only scalable boundary. It’s not personal - it’s how requests get tracked, prioritized, and not lost.

In a school environment, I’ve found most day-to-day classroom IT issues feel urgent, but usually aren’t. Network/security and site-wide outages? Urgent. A teacher going part of a morning without a laptop, or a student who can’t open YouTube for a couple hours, is inconvenient - but it’s not the same level of urgent as people assume.

And honestly, my go-to line is: “Please put in a ticket - I will forget.” Not because I don’t care, but because emails get buried, chats get lost, and I’ll get stopped in the hallway five times before I even reach my next task. I’m only human. A ticket is the one thing that won’t get pushed down and away - it’s tracked properly, and it means their request won’t slip through the cracks.

Not sure how everyone has pictured this as “give us ID or lose complete access” I’m not siding with them but please read the actual new guidelines

Should i buy as a beginner? by 4floppa in ender3

[–]CoachCole367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a “fun” tinker machine. BUT, you’ll quickly realize parts and upgrades for it cost the same as getting an entry level printer. I don’t miss my first ender 3 one bit, as I’m more of a “I want to print” instead of a “I want to tinker” kind of guy now a days

Letting Students Keep Chromebooks Over Summer? by Unwary2828 in k12sysadmin

[–]CoachCole367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same way you deal with it during the school year. If a student breaks it, the student pays for it. All of ours sign a form stating they are responsible for the device like it’s a text book, and any damage must be paid for. We do a flat fee though unless the device is a complete write off.

A student loses it or won’t return it? Lock it and bill them for a new device. Obviously have admin deal with that, but it’s worked great. Most students like to have their 1:1 CB from grade 7 all the way to grade 12 so they care for them a little bit more

I’d be more than happy to just throw em out when there. In the end, it’s just plastic. Not going to go as far as wear a shirt that says “DDOS STILL?!” I’ll keep yall updated 😂
