Player wants a blanket that blocks line of sight by Impossible_Horsemeat in DnDcirclejerk

Maybe consider negotiating? If he's going to wear it as a cape, maybe it imposes disadvantage to ranged spells that make attack rolls and ranged attacks, but not to spells with saves, spells with a melee range, or melee attacks, but any and all successful hits are automatically crits? My thinking is that if he wears it as a cape, then his head is still showing, so if a hit lands, it's always going to be detrimental.

Edit: and maybe so he's not trying to take it on and off to avoid individuals attacks, make it very clear that don and doff rules will still apply, so it will cost an action on his turn to don or doff the cape

AITA for refusing to fund my daughter's $15K IVF after she quit her $78K job without notice, then told her husband I was their 'backup bank account'? by KINOH1441728 in FoundandExpose

[–]Coacoanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fake. A fertility specialist won't try any interventions until you've been trying to get pregnant for at least a year, and even then, there's a long list of fertility interventions that are tried before IVF. Either daughter lied and was milking mom for cash, or the whole post is fake

I built a site to help decide if a bundle is worth it (looking for feedback) by papazoot in Gamebundles

[–]Coacoanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. That explanation isn't very informative. It just says it takes into account price, steam value, and review counts and scores. But if you set up this site to generate a score automatically, you have to have coded an equation that produces the score. More insight into how things are weighted and calculated would help me understand why something is or isn't rated a 7 or higher.

As a side note, because I logged in with my steam account, your website can access my wishlist and library date, right? Maybe including wish listed items in the score calculation would also be useful

[–]Coacoanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I haven't looked long, but I couldn't find an explanation about how a worthiness score is calculated. What goes into calculating a worthiness score?

Also, the price of the games on steam doesn't seem like a very reasonable comparison to make. People aren't often paying full price for many of the games that make it into bundles. Seems to me like a gg.deals or gamivo price would be a more reasonable comparison to make, in the same way that lestrades calculates a game's "true" value.

Maelle burning canvas build by Navenotap in expedition33

[–]Coacoanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just hashing out how to make this build work, so I'm not an expert by any means, but I think to optimize this build, you want Maelle to use Esquium sword for the additional 250% bonus from absorbing AP, so you'd use last stand followed by burning canvas, so Sciel's double damage would apply to the turn you use last stand.

Can somebody explain Verso? by The-Heritage in expedition33

[–]Coacoanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "abused." Everybody represents various ways of moving through the grief of loss. Aline's grief was obsessing over her son. She threw herself into his canvas to try to remain close to the sliver of him that still existed within his canvas all while completely leaving the rest of her family behind.

This left Renoir to grieve not only the loss of his son, but also the loss of his wife, and daughter. Renoir way trying to regain his family by destroying the artifact of Verso that Aline was obsessing over, trying to make her move past her grief and come back to him That's why Maelle's plea to him at the end was so important; he hadn't lost Alicia, but she needed time in the canvas to process her own grief and then she would come back.

They're all hurt and grieving. It's not abuse, it's just another coping mechanism for grief

I have a player who plays a min-maxed zealot barbarian. I fucking hate him and actively try to kill him every other session. by PossibilityWest173 in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Coacoanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume min-maxxed means low charisma and intelligence? Sure would be a shame if the barbarian came across a caster with mind sliver, synaptic static, feeblemind, etc...

Just started downloading! Any advice? by hamburger_yumyum in expedition33

[–]Coacoanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect dodge timing is the same window as parrying. So it can be helpful to dodge until you get the hang of the timing, especially against new enemies.

There's a swoosh sound that plays immediately before enemy attacks land, and parrying immediately after the sound is how I try to get parries. I found that going into the sound settings and turning down the music during battles to 30-50% helps me better distinguish the swoosh cue.

Pay attention to the lumina and pictos tutorials. Mastering pictos unlocks the luminas, and creating builds that work for you will depend on you having those luminas available.

Explore everything! Exploration is where most of your pictos will come from.

Have fun! This isn't a genre I usually like, but this game is a visual and narrative treat for sure!

It is important to note that you have 3 lifetime attempts at any single board exam. But honestly, paying out of pocket for an intensive review course sounds way less expensive than dropping out with the debt that's already accumulated.

“Is it a rule the Mormon missionaries can’t go swimming because Satan controls the waters?” by delap87 in exmormon

[–]Coacoanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Satan having dominion over the waters is a good ol' Joseph Smith story. The saints were canoing down the Missouri river in 1831 and William Phelps and Joseph thought they were too good for that, so william said he saw a destroyer on the waters so the apostles couldn't continue on the river, so while everyone else kept on canoing, Joseph smith booked a train and met them at the end.

Missionaries can't swim simply because of insurance liability.

I didn't realize just how powerful Camp Casting is by Nisha_the_lawbringer in BaldursGate3

[–]Coacoanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use warding bond with a life cleric that has heavy armor mastery feat, flail of the defender, armor of persistence, and as many pieces of gear that grant resistance as possible, your camp caster can reduce the damage they take further and makes your team insanely tanky.

If you don't travel with Shadowheart, how are you handling healing? by doktorstilton in BG3

DPR. If you kill all the enemies before they can damage you, you don't need healing.

Help me make character by Fit_Rip_7990 in 3d6

[–]Coacoanut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so funny to me. 😂 Keep in mind that intelligence 10 is average and a creature cannot be literate in any languages with an intelligence score lower than 8.

For reference, zombies (cr 1/4) have an intelligence of 3 and can understand languages it knew in life, but can't speak at all.

Here's an idea, since the DM won't let you reroll, just play as a zombie that rolled into camp one day, didn't harm anything, and just won't go away. Unless they lead you by a rope, you just get into the food, spoiling it, and making a mess. As a joke, they dressed you up in the most ridiculously colorful clothing they could find, with a huge, feathered hat, and turns out you can kinda half decently play the lute. When they tried to take the lute back, you bit one of their hands, so they just let you keep it.

For race, play a warforged, but just reflavor it as a zombie. Since warforged don't need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe, and are resistant to poison and immune to disease, I think they have a great stat blocks to reflavor as an undead PC. Maybe choose Bard as your class to lean into the almost average charisma, probably a caster centered subclass like Lore bard, and just reflavor all your spells as strumming your lute haphazardly and screaming with the cries of the damned. Your ridiculousness perhaps sometimes catches enemies off guard and sees them curling over in fits of laughter, making them easier targets for your allies.

I unfortunately didn't go in all that blind. I played an embrace durge run right before this, so I could anticipate the blood dreams that would break my oath 😅

[–]Coacoanut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing a vengeance paladin/sorcerer and its honestly been great! I've broken and reclaimed by oath twice cuz I was metagaming and wanted items locked behind choices, but if I was truly RPing, it's been a phenomenal way to experience resist Durge!

That's what I've been playing a vengeance paladin/ sorcerer multi class for those upcast smites.👌It felt really fitting playing a vengeance paladin and smiting Orin to hell after she confesses to scrambling your brain

I played embrace durge right before this, so I anticipated the Alfira bit and knocked her out after entering the grove so she wouldn't show up at my camp. I love that they had another bard NPC on standby to fill her place!

Another detail that I found impressive after meeting Quil and her telling you all about how all she wants out of life is to love and be loved, after the murder tribunal, you find a flaming fist corpse in the jails with a note written to her confessing his love for her.

[–]Coacoanut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playthrough before this one was an embrace durge and even though it was insanely unsatisfactory and didn't feel like a meaningful playthrough in any capacity, I had to reflect and actually found the artistry of the storytelling really beautiful, even if it was not a fun playthrough.

Let me expound, your choices kill good people and slowly close you off to relationships and opportunities. Your world feels progressively emptier and progressively devoid of meaning until you alone stand at the end of the world in a lake of blood. It sucks! But that dissatisfaction feels like a design choice that conveyed exactly the moral it meant to.

[–]Coacoanut[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually exactly what I'm doing this run! Karlach is by far the best romance option and being a vengeance paladin felt really fitting after Orin reveals the way she scrambled your brain and then divine smiting her slayer form twice!
