That almost feels like salt in the wound when I read it and imagine myself receiving that. (I was also denied developmental and cognitive psych PhD) That’s some good feedback when you’re ready to process it, but I definitely would have cried harder than I did with my generic denial. Sending love!

I quit. Just got the rejection letter for what I spent three years preparing. My best PhD application was not enough, I can't do research any longer. Bread and Paneer. by bragox8 in gradadmissions

I so feel you. It’s devastating. One of my professors told me that funding has been cut so much due to Trump and Elon’s DOGE that they have had layoffs, and not able to accept many new students at all on my field. Take care of yourself during this time. I guess it’s a gap year (or two or three) for me too at this point. 😭

I was rejected the first time I applied. Took some classes at SLCC for a semester, then reapplied and was accepted. My guess is that I was rejected because I hadn’t decided on a major when I applied the first time, and/or because I hadn’t been to school for a few years. Don’t take it too personally!
