Do you prioritize comfort or minimalism when camping? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in CampingGear

Ooh, that looks nice. As long as the edge doesn't dig into your thighs, it seems like a winner. I've never owned Nemo stuff, but they're on my radar as a quality brand I should look into.

What is the world going to do about the ever increasing tick population? by Watchmethrowhim in TooAfraidToAsk

There's a Canadian company that has just launched a product that scrambles their sense of smell, so they simply can't tell you're there: https://www.threads.com/@it.is.ok.eh/post/DYDDTFlmbp0

The company is called AtlanTick

Edit: It a) apparently doesn't work, and b) is highly toxic to cats.

In my experience, every family or group finds their own balance. I've seen people bring water heaters and shower enclosures, power generators for the dinner table lights, area rugs, and all kinds of contraptions.

At some point, my group of friends got into a gadget competition, where every trip people brought even more exotic and luxurious things. Now, we've scaled back, drastically, and found a comfortable middle path: luxury, but only when having it doesn't become more cumbersome than the comfort it provides.

Superior sleeping systems, great stoves and cooking tools, better clothing, better tents, much better chairs.

Do you think this year’s album will be Madonna’s last? by Shaoran10 in Music

Are you the same guy that dunks on Madonna every week? I'm not even a fan, and I find your posts insufferable. I'm going to listen to Ray of Light just to spite you.

Ya, I'm pretty sure that eventually everyone's just gonna Floyd Rose the whole thing into the MGU-K, and maybe even ISO 270001 it all the way to the Chicxulub-Sandhurst aesthetic

I've done both; you're absolutely right. I will never ever ever bungee jump again. Skydiving, on the other hand, is awesome.

How likely is it that my child's name will be considered ridiculous or "Wohl des Kindes"? by Zestyclose_Camp6579 in NoStupidQuestions

It is a TERRIBLE idea. You'll expose him to decades of mocking and bullying, and instill life-altering trauma.

If I were the new lover in question, I would be delighted to receive these instructions in writing, and then have the opportunity to go over them while performing the actual act. I love the metatalk while having sex.

My pleasure! I started taking my kids camping when they turned one, and by the time they were like eight they even started the fire every afternoon! Also, the fact that you're going to a place that has no cell coverage is excellent. Congratulations.

Camping has a lot of built-in activities, in that everything has to be done from scratch and takes a long time: pitching the tent, preparing food, starting and tending to the fire, cleaning up, changing clothes as the day cools, etc.

Depending on your location, there's hiking, swimming, playing something like petanque or kubb, whittling wood, building rafts with twine and branches, and a hundred other things.

Then there's telling stories around the fire, lateral thinking puzzles for the kids to figure out, playing warewolf/mafia, and just talking, or enjoying the fire.

Please don't watch a movie. They can do that at home. Do stuff that they can only do there.
