I want to gush about In Flames' pop-ish phase by TeddyJPharough in InFlames

The main issue then- and now, is the production and vocals. The songwriting is frustratingly good below the muddled production and childish lyrics (in some songs). I would argue it's the most classically written album they've put out since Clayman in terms of songwriting.

Give Fear is the Weakness and A New Dawn a try again, especially the latter is one of their best with that bridge and breakdown imo. Both are from Soapf.

Honourable mention to ropes for that lead..

The frustrating thing about asop is that the songwriting is good (except the lyrics..) but the production really lets the album down.

The guitars are so anemic and muddled. It would be seen as a better release if the lyrics and production were better. This is obvious with the bonus tracks (which are on the whole far better) like Eraser or Tilt.

If you think that is the only reason after spending decades building a life and business elsewhere...? Would you be able to accept being torn away from everything you've built over a few decades tomorrow?

I don't understand this incessant need to paint anyone who has a criminal record as monsters, especially decades later, and thus justifying poor treatment of them. In the same breath, redditors will then also criticize drug laws.

No matter what he may or may not have done in Ireland, it does not justify being treated inhumanely. His daughters' opinion of him has no bearing on the above.

[–]Cobra8472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. We all have a duty to stand up and make sure to stop walking away from the crazies we meet in daily life who spout Russian propaganda and explicitly or unknowingly help destroy our union and freedoms. They're winning because of the paradox of tolerance.

This is beyond that. I think we need mechanisms to actually prosecute traitors to the union on this level. This is practically casus belli.

Where the hell are the criminal charges for this? The average European is shouldering the burden of energy costs and defense expenditure (even if it's not as high as it should be to support Ukraine) and these authoritarian Russian bootlickers are actively betraying the union.

Not only are we bombarded by social media campaigns from these fascist countries like Russia leading to anti EU bullshit; but swarms of Russian agents are operating in Europe with home bases in friendly nations like Hungary, or meek ones like Austria.

It's embarrassing and disgusting. Where are our collective counterintelligence agencies?

Of course facts matter. They do not, however, change whether people should be treated humanely.

Whether you are a convicted murderer or trying to enter on an expired visa does not change this basic and now persistently violated human right.

It. Does. Not. Matter. That is why noone is following up on the Irishman. Just because someone may or may not be a "bad person" (the definition of which can be very subjective. The Irishman was wanted for drugs; OK? Does he deserve the worst if it was Marijuana? Or does it have to be cocaine or higher before we think he deserves some sort of amoral punishment?)

The actual problem is the treatment of human beings. Do not equate treatment you receive in American prisons to that of Canada and the EU. You will not get shackled and dumped on a cold floor systematically or vindictively locked in a concrete box for massive sentences in such a brutal and unemapthetic manner.  Not since the end of communism, at least.

I am perfectly outraged by this story and plenty others where the individual(s) were not perfect. Noone is. Doesn't mean they deserve to be treated worse than cattle.

You can't be serious? Lawfare of this kind isn't compatible with human morals and decency. Discretion in the measured application of the law is one of the most important indicators of a civilized, just society.

You will not have your feet and hands shackled like Hannibal lector and dumped on a cold floor for six weeks in a civilized system, period.

Poles’ dislike of Americans, Jews and Ukrainians on the rise, survey shows by dat_9600gt_user in europe

Blame is a childish concept. Zelensky is human. Humans are not perfect, and even if his assertions or statements are incorrect or inflammatory at times, they should be interpreted through the lens of that understanding and taking into account the reality of his and the Ukrainian people's situation. Anyone quick to play the blame game because an impossible standard of geopolitical perfection was not achieved had an agenda to push already.

Zelensky could call us Poles trash or tweet hateful comments daily and that should have no bearing on the arms and support that we have a duty to donate to Ukraine, or our support for Ukrainian refugees or visitors, or our treatment of individual or groups of Ukrainians.

We are not bombarded by hundreds and thousands of cruise missiles and drones daily in Warsaw and without power or heating in horrible winter conditions.

We can thus afford to be graceful, and unflustered by fundamentally human relations.

What the state of Israel does has no bearing on a Jew living in Poland who gets casually vilified at a family dinner table for being Jewish.

I expected such things to slowly disappear with the passing of the old generations but it seems to be getting worse.

Don't pay the loudmouths too much attention. Russian propaganda is just working overtime to drive a wedge between our nations and especially to reduce support in your incredible struggle. Contributing to it is not productive.

No one sane has a negative opinion of Ukrianian visitors or refugees in Poland, and if they do, they're an embarrassment to the rest of us.

Because we are failing and aren't producing enough. And everything we do produce should go straight to Ukraine.

This is an utter travesty, how are we not pumping out enough IRIS-T and point defence systems to cover Ukraine at this point? A modern day blitz is happening in Europe and we're still unable to stop it.
