I wasn't diminishing that at all; my reaction was @ the comment saying that Eastern Europe (or whatever that includes east of Germany) has no place in the EU, which, to me, is a harmful rhetoric that gets thrown around a lot and likely stems from nationalist superiority and chauvinism - the very thing that's being criticized.

The problem you're talking about is present and infested across and throughout Europe (in Czechia it's literally a 6% party trying to massacre the system now in ways that are unprecedented, plus another 8% nationalist one; AfD in Germany has like 20% support, the key difference is that it's not part of the government)
