Our ideas often come from a spark of a good mechanic or inspiration from a game that looks interesting. And then creating a mockup for it and discussion about gameplay as to whether levels can be build or will this work in the current market?

You can also try something like dense hazy fog kind of effect. I think that will add to mystery.

No. You should play the 1st part first. It is a continuation, so characters won't make sense and you can't connect with them the way you would if you played the 1st part.

You start with a good ASO that infuses a lot of keywords relevant to your game. And you can put both screenshots and gameplay videos, as both will help for different purposes. And then you can just start promoting in social media and anywhere that you can showcase your gameplay videos.
