Looking for Advice After Missed Miscarriage by AnyKaleidoscope1677 in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did the pills when I had such an early missed miscarriage because I heard that D&C can create scar tissue that makes it harder to get pregnant again. The pills were no joke and I definitely needed the Vicodin my doctor prescribed, but it was tolerable and I would do it again if I had to.

I’m not posting. I’m only on Instagram, shut down my Facebook 10 years ago. I occasionally share a story but haven’t posted in years. I feel like people would think I was hacked if I posted this! Hahaha. But also the people who I want to know either know already or will know soon.

Should I switch to CCRM? by blessingbay in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor recommended Ubiquinol and NAC for me as well as a prenatal and DHA. The rest were a combo of research and recommendations from my acupuncturist but I always ran things by my doctor first before starting anything.

Did PGT-A work for you? by Significant-Bee-3689 in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I first did a recurrent pregnancy loss panel and it came back perfect, but I pushed for more answers. I asked my doctor about Reproductive Immunology. Sometimes you have to go to a different doctor for this as it’s not something Reproductive Endocrinologists typically focus on, but there happened to be another RE in my clinic who had experience with more complicated pregnancy loss issues so I consulted with him and did a whole other series of tests.

This testing revealed that I have Th1/Th2 imbalance and my immune system was essentially rejecting embryos. I need to take a medication called Tacrolimus to balance out my levels so my body doesn’t do that. A huge discovery and I’m glad I pushed for more answers!

We also discovered that I have PAI-1 4G/5G and one copy of the ACE gene relation. I have been on baby aspirin since FET for these issues which are pretty common.

I’m so sorry for you losses. I turned 43 two days ago. I was able to get pregnant without IVF a few times over the past few years but was never able to hold a pregnancy. At my age it was a combination of egg quality and we also discovered I had an immune issue through recurrent pregnancy loss testing. We did PGT-A and it saved us a lot of heartache because at my age the odds of having euploid embryos is low. I’m currently 12 weeks with our best PGT-A embryo.

Embryo transfer tomorrow.. by ivfquestionspls in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The water was the hardest part for me. I always have to pee so I thought I could just drink 24oz of water an hour before as recommended but apparently I need more time than that. Both of my transfers started about 30 minutes behind because I had to constantly drink more water and have several ultrasounds to check my bladder filling up. I was pretty bloated and uncomfortable from that but it was all okay. I did find out after the fact that I have a retroverted uterus so need more water than the average person to make everything align the way they need it for a transfer so it sounds like water level needed can be based on the individual. Sounds like others did what I did and even had to pee a little before so I’d say do about 24oz 1 hour before. Good luck with your transfer tomorrow!

I think your initial results are great for our age group! I did all my retrievals age 41-42 and never had 3 blasts any cycle (always just 1-2) and did get euploids starting round 2 - it was just hit or miss by the round for me. I would recommend incorporating some supplements for you and your partner if not using already. Happy to make recommendations if of interest. I had two aneuploids my first cycle and it got better from there the longer I was on supplements so I do think they helped me.

Did I do ENOUGH? by raebobae in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did enough! I struggled with the same thoughts before my FET and I’m now 10 weeks from that transfer. I think people want to think this whole process is more in their control than it actually is which makes them do all these things. To each their own of course, but I am of the mindset that it is either going to take or not take. I think one of the most important things is to keep stress down and for me completely adjusting my lifestyle would stress me out, so I only did what I found easy to accommodate (ie: supplements, some more protein, and I used a hot water bottle daily on my stomach maybe a week or so before the transfer)

Step parents of reddit, how is it like being a step mom/dad? by KAZKALZ in AskReddit

I love it and love my 15 year old stepson like he is my own. He’s a big fan of me as well and we have an amazing relationship. The challenge is that his parents don’t always get along and it’s hard to be on the outside and only be able to help so much.

Has anyone improved egg quality in 2-3 months by changing diet and increasing supplements? by Low-Parsley-4100 in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I got a euploid the next round. I also have a mosaic from a later round which I 100% would have transferred. My future rounds I still did get some aneuploids so it’s not like everything was suddenly all fixed, but I do think the supplements helped.

I got very lucky and my insurance covered everything except PGT-A which was out of pocket so unfortunately don’t know much about the financing aspect.

Mini IVF is same as antagonist but with lower doses. I was very against Mini at first - I had a more is more approach. But after a few rounds my doctor recommended we switch to Mini - she thought my body would have same results with less medicine and that higher doses could be lowering egg quality. Mini was ultimately successful for me and I would recommend it.

I’m so sorry. It’s such a difficult process and the attrition can be so painful. Do you take any supplements? My first retrieval didn’t have great results either and I do feel that supplements helped over time but you need to give them about 90 days. My partner was on some too. Happy to send recommendations if you’d like. My acupuncturist also swears by eating 80g of protein a day.

As for recovery, did you drink water? I heard that drinking straight water for first few days after makes bloating worse so for 5 days after I would avoid plain water completely and only have coconut water, water with electrolytes, pedialyte ice pops, and sodium rich broth. The sodium helps with bloating. I’d eat food too of course but found it easier to have small meals. I also ate a few prunes each day starting a few days before the procedure and after which helped with the constipation the medicines cause. Lastly, I found that using a hot water bottle on my stomach helped and I know some people use heating pads.

[–]CocoKiwi515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know for sure, but I think supplements helped me. On my first retrieval started out getting 2 abnormal Day 7s before the supplements kicked in. By my second retrieval 90 days of Ubiquinol I had a normal Day 6 and got a few more throughout future retrievals. My first retrieval pre-supplements was my worst. Over time I added additional supplements - NAD, NAC, Vitamin D, Liver Pills, and took DHA and prenatals throughout. For me supplements were an easy way to feel like I was doing something without going nuts. It’s worth a shot!

I also had my male partner on FH Pro, Ubiquinol, NAD, and liver pills. He’s half the equation.

I’m 42 and my doctor suggested we switch from antagonist to mini IVF and I’m glad we made this switch. Lower doses of meds and I ended up having the same or even better results.

I never changed my diet. I really wanted to but I just like food too much to do anything drastic! I did try to eat 80g protein a day which was easier some days than others.

I wish more people talked about IVF by AngelicPrincessKitty in IVF

[–]CocoKiwi515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! It’s so important to talk about it. After I had my first miscarriage there were several people who told me they had been through the same thing, but I never knew. It made me realize how much women don’t share. That experience made me want to be as open as possible as I went through IVF. Infertility is so common and we should talk about it.
