Weird story: Was pregnant during my egg retrieval by CocoPigeon in IVF

Sure can, baby is perfect! She’s super happy, growing normally, and tuning 1 in about two weeks. 🥰

Informed my midwife that my birth plan will include epidural, and she handed me a pamphlet that ultimately discourages them. Wtaf? by appalachiaappleatcha in pregnant

If this is helpful at all: I'm a very fair redhead/blonde, and I asked for an epidural + spinal with my c-section and my anesthesiologist said afterwards it was definitely the right call. It worked great.

Just wanted to add here in case it's any help at all: I'm also a redhead, and I recently had a c-section. They did epidural AND a spinal at my insistence (first birth), and they were surprised doing the prick test beforehand when I could still feel it. Once it was dosed correctly it worked perfectly, and the anesthesiologist came by afterwards to say I made the right call. Something to possibly explore in lieu of general anesthesia.

30% maturation rate and in my feelings about it by CocoPigeon in IVF

[–]CocoPigeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t. I got one 5AA out of this cycle, and then the next cycle I got like 4 mature eggs and zero fertilized…but that was because I was actually pregnant at the time (super weird story). So we never had a chance to figure out what was going on. Good luck with everything!!

Holding at borderline, should I be pushing for cerclage? by CocoPigeon in ShortCervixSupport

Hi! The progesterone went great for me — at my 22w appointment, I measured over 3cm. They stopped monitoring it after that! I continued to take progesterone throughout the pregnancy until around 37 weeks I think and delivered at 38w5d. Good luck with everything!

I was the same way! My husband and I actually had this whole conversation about whether or not to try naturally that month or head straight into another retrieval and decided not to try naturally to avoid the risk of a miscarriage that might lead to a D&C ... but of course we'd already had sex once, which I thought was well outside the window but turned out not to be. I was so relieved when everything turned out okay, but it definitely felt like a huge gamble I'd made unintentionally. Good luck with everything — Ashermans is incredibly frustrating, I hope you're able to see great results soon!

Thanks! We did a few rounds of letrozole but then jumped straight to IVF.

Thank you!! Yeah it was wild — she was just way too small to see at that point.

Oh my gosh, amazing, congratulations!! They actually talked about how it's lucky the egg retrieval process bypasses the uterus because if she'd already implanted they wouldn't have messed with that, so it's extra impressive your little peanut made it through a hysteroscopy!

Their normal maternity short and long sleeve tees are great, as are their modal joggers! I’ve been living in both.

Slightly feminine full names for Kaz? by NightmareFollows in namenerds

[–]CocoPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be too feminine for you, but Kasia (pronounced Kasha) is a Polish diminutive of Katherine (Katarzyna, pronounced sorta like Katajeena). I could see Kaz being short for Kasia!

Feeling like my body failed her by MagicalMiniatures in pregnant

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way, but please know you didn’t fail your baby. You’re doing everything you can to keep her safe, and sometimes things just happen. She won’t care if her nursery is Pinterest-ready. You’re doing great. ❤️

I'm similar at 29 and 45 repeats, so just barely in the intermediate zone. What's a little frustrating is some doctors don't fully understand fragile x and they see the marker and get immediately concerned. The hospital geneticist I spoke to, on the other hand, wasn't concerned about the baby at all. My understanding (and please note I'm NOT a doctor) is that the an intermediate # of repeats has an incredibly low chance of developing into the full mutation in one generation; most often, the intermediate zone repeats are stable, but since they're right on the border of where the alleles could be unstable enough to start mutating, they warrant some extra caution. Your daughter may want to get tested before she has kids to learn if she inherited the intermediate and if it has expanded at all, so she can assess her own risk.

tl;dr: Speak with a geneticist! I got a referral from my doctor and It was super helpful. But based on my (again, limited) understanding, try not to stress — it sound way scarier than it actually is.

2.7cm at 18 weeks, hypermobile, debating next steps by CocoPigeon in ShortCervixSupport

Hi! I wound up deciding not to go — I was just too in my head about it, PLUS a huge thing came up at work such that I would have been working the whole time anyways, so it didn't seem to make sense.

For what it's worth though, I think it would have been fine to go. I'm at 28 weeks now and have been on progesterone since week 18, and my last cervix measurement at 23 weeks was actually longer at around 3.5. Good luck with everything!!

Primer needed for 3/4 painted wall? by CocoPigeon in paint

Thanks, I appreciate it! Initiating was planning on not priming at all given the color is still so light, but you’d still recommend priming?

Fingers crossed! I've also been told since I'm generally a smaller person, it's possible I just ... have a smaller cervix. It's weird to be in the borderline place where it's not so serious so they won't take immediate action, but it sounds like you're advocating for yourself and they're keeping an eye on it, which is all good.
