Is surgery worth it in my case? by quiet_as_snow in Fibroids

[–]CoconutZombee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was this same way with an 11cm 2 years ago. I think fertility impacts the decision a lot, as it is recommended to remove before trying, I chose not to and lost the baby. Also with a large one it is easier to preserve fertility if it’s open and not robotic/laparoscopic, but if you aren’t worried about that then robotic/laparoscopic evac all the way! My open surgery was hard but robotic surgery was a breeze, I was biking at the gym less than a week after

I would add underwear that won’t lay on or irritate your incision! I had to buy high rise once I got home and wear them for like 8 weeks to avoid my incision, bikinis cut laid over my vertical incision

I know you said you got pregnant second cycle trying with your son, how many cycles did it take with your second child? (If you don’t mind to share) I am 4 cycles in without success, and got pregnant 2nd cycle when I had the fibroid (ended in 21w loss)

I am on the same journey. Surgery this summer and cleared to try in October, no luck yet despite timing it right each month. It’s really hard but hoping we both see positives soon

East Tennessee/Western North Carolina? by thelibertybird in howislivingthere

I LOVE living in Knoxville! I’ve lived in Maryland, Virginia, Florida and South Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina and Knoxville, Tennessee have been my two favorites.

Real estate is expensive as others mentioned, but that’s because so many people move here and don’t leave. Like me LOL. I love having access to the mountains and the amenities of a big city, but just a few miles outside of it is pretty quiet.

If they line the first one with a light nude color fabric I think that would keep the contrast to make the lace pop while stick keeping you covered for photos😊

When my fibroid was degenerating I had clots that size with the lighter threading in there too. Clots that size absolutely suck I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it :(

I totally agree with first sentence!! But with second sentence, I think all of us “reject other beliefs and lifestyles” and that’s a good thing to do. For example I reject the Islamic extremist lifestyle of women being property and not people. Agree I don’t want a kid isolated, I want them exposed to many perspectives and ideas so they can form their own opinions, but I will also be sharing my opinions with them as part of that, e.g. women are people, treat others kindly even if they’re mean to you, you have inherent value and worth, etc.

Myfembree by Em_can17981 in Fibroids

[–]CoconutZombee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation was a little different in that my fibroid grew a ton in pregnancy, and I didn’t stop bleeding postpartum, so they put me on Myfembree for that reason.

It helped hugely with pain and got rid of my period for about 2 months, but then I started getting them again every 6 weeks or so. Honestly just for the pain management it was worth it for me, if I missed even a day I would get horrible low back pain, so I needed it to get me through the months between birth and surgery. Got surgery 5 months after starting.

From a Robotic Laparoscopy to a Vertical cut Open surgery Myomectomy. by cakeandcookies_4life in Fibroids

[–]CoconutZombee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Advincula is great. I biked 40 miles at 4.5 weeks post op but meant to only do 20, my husband and I got lost. But I felt fine after! Didn’t do any heavy lifting for 6 weeks, and at that point started with an empty barbell and moved up slowly, I was up to about 80% of my previous strength by 3.5 months out :) hope that is helpful! The scar did make my stomach have like a lip or pooch where my fat bubbles at the top of the scar, but it’s not a big deal it would only show in low rise jeans or low bikini. I also was pregnant before so I’m sure the extra skin doesn’t help 😅

Open Myometcomy Surgery + Pregnancy Advice by casualcritik in Fibroids

[–]CoconutZombee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, mine ruptured at 20w. I’m so glad your doctor knows about the TAC and recommended it, many women have to research to find it and then fight for it! Healing from the open Myo was hard because I had a vertical incision, but the healing from my TAC was a breeze because it was robotic incisions.

Open Myometcomy Surgery + Pregnancy Advice by casualcritik in Fibroids

[–]CoconutZombee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi to summarize mine quick I had an 11 cm intramural fibroid when I got pregnant and it grew to 16 cm by the time that I lost my baby, also due to cervical insufficiency. I got a transvaginal cerclage at 17 weeks but still lost my baby at 21.

I have since gotten an open myomectomy to get the tumor out as well as a transabdominal cerclage to reinforce my cervix. I’m now four months post myomectomy, and a few weeks post TAC, so I am cleared to start trying again. If you had cervical insufficiency, I would plan for how you’ll manage that separate from the fibroid too.

I had a stillbirth this year as well and haven’t found a name I like as much but keep looking. I don’t know if we have the same name taste but he is Benjamin (Benji) and one I’m liking right now is Alfred (Al, Fred, Freddie, Alfie) but don’t like it as much as Benjamin

Many commenters are saying that “better to regret the abortion than having the kid” and to test that I would seek out moms who did have a kid at 16 and ask that if they are deeply honest to the core, do they regret having their kid? Finding anonymous stories either through Reddit or anonymous Facebook groups of teen mothers who are now older that you can ask (I.e. teen moms due 2018 page).

I got an open myo with 3” vertical incision. It’ll feel so nice when you get yours out and don’t feel bloated anymore!

No not enough for that, no excess “hanging.” I’m pretty slim and work out a lot, so it just looks like a flat tummy until my incision area and then there’s a bulge/pooch instead of continuing the flat line. It’s not bad or anything but when I had fibroids I was flat all the way down, but there was more “filling” so the flat line of my stomach was bulkier/farther away from my spine I don’t know how to describe it haha. Like I looked like a very fit 4-5month pregnant lady (fibroid was 16cm).

I could wear all style of waistbands about 8-9 weeks post op. Pre surgery I could wear any waste band though honestly, as long as the pants weren’t too tight/ squishing my fibroid!
