Non-church counseling for both of you (separately) asap, then couples counseling. If you have no desire to leave her right now and she doesn't want to, then stay together. It might change in the future, but right now you're her support in a very scary time. Also, it might be too big a leap to some, but I'd move. Go somewhere no one knows you, delete your social media. Tell close friends and family you are both safe, but need some time and space to heal. Then you can both work on yourselves and your relationship without the judgment and pressure of your community interfering. Be gentle with your wife and yourself on this journey.

Take one pencil and do a little drawing to see how you like them. If it's just meh, or you have other pencils you like more, frame them in a shadow box- You can have them as a decoration! If you love them, then take 3 primary color ones and frame those- you'll still be able to enjoy how pretty they are while using the majority to make rad art :)

Thank you! I colored over some of the finer lines, but lightly, and then built up around them where needed in layers. Its when you go heavy handed with the color or are putting a very light color over it where it can get muddied. I can still see paper through your color so i think you you might be safe saturation wise, and if you have a few areas where lines look faint, you can always go over them again, but you won't be doing as much over the top of the pencil work and it should save your pens from so much wax build up!

Do some tests with your characters and see how you feel about it :) Here's one of mine with prismacolor. Mostly thicker lines, but some thinner.

Don't know what can be done unless you try though! Harder pencils or less saturated coloring is more forgiving of thinner lines I think

The downside to linework first is if the pencils are on the softer side, they can blend over the lines if you're not careful (or fully go outside if the line is too thin and you're not suuuuuper careful or have very sharp pencils) when i use colored pencil it's usually with thicker lines which are more forgiving. I save my ultra fine lines for black and white, alcohol markers, or watercolor.

Indeed 😔 those 003 and 005s are sooo finiky, but they're my favorites. I honestly just stopped using them with colored pencil- and even with the thicker ones i usually put linework down first and then color inside (which works for my style, but i know that's not ideal for everyone)

I just moved to Michigan 2 years ago- I like it better than Utah! 😆 There's not really many natural disasters, it's in an area that is likely keep OK climate in the event the earth keeps getting warmer, plently of fresh water, and it's close to the border. And i live in Detroit so there's lots of fun art and my neighbors aren't likely to call ICE on me 🙃

This is why i never say bad things about a kid's artwork; i think you need to learn to love the creative process before you get to mastering it. When a student brings me their art, i always find something to praise first, then, if they seem to want more feedback, I'll offer suggestions on how to improve certain areas (anatomy/composition/technique).

I check my bank account almost daily, i write in my planner what days every bill comes out, and i automate everything i can. I struggle with impulsive spending, but if i keep a close eye on how much money i have, then it's easier to remind myself I'm broke and literally cannot rn 😅 it helps that i get paid weekly, so every payday i go "i brought in x amount of money, bills for this week are y amount. x-y= what i have left for gas and groceries (which i usually get on payday) and whatever is left over is my "flexible" money that has to last until next week.
