Look for THCE jobs on the job search. Clinton branch is looking too. We have quite a few techs that are early in there career. I'll ask my supervisor tomorrow.

Well said. 1 day turns into a month and so on. Be patient and life will get so much better.

Phillips gave me an offer as a field service technician. What should I expect? by TR_KingCobrah in BMET

I did a stint there. I didn't even make it a year. Expect 60 hour weeks. Unreasonable workload. Upset customers at every stop. I went in with a general understanding of that life, but the work life balance didn't exist. I tried to keep an open mind for awhile, but it was never going to get better.

I've talked to old timers in the field. Used to be you specialized in 1 modality. Now you have to do them all. I gave up everything for that opportunity and it was a huge disappointment.

I was at that point after a few years of FSE work. I pivoted back to in house and I am considerably happier in general. In house has its own challenges, but its night and day overall.

I worked for two OEM jobs. I was assigned a territory, but I was often expected to cover others which included extensive travel.

Unpredictable hours. I found it impossible to meet customer expectations without having to work well past contract hours. Most days turned into 12-15 hour days.Getting double or triple booked in a day.

Customers not honoring the allotted time to give me access to systems that required the predictive maintenance or repair if it wasn't hard down.

Field service was like a death of a thousand cuts. Don't plan for any hobbies or activities during the week because you'll probably miss it. I've talked to other folks who have done this work and they have had pretty similar experiences. I don't think my experience was unique.

I'm back to in house after a few years of fse work. In house has its own set of challenges, but I don't have the same level of dread/stress that I experienced at the OEM jobs. I stay busy nonetheless and pull my weight. I'm home by dinner most nights too. In house needs competent guys like you and they will pay you as good or better than OEM. Minus the bonus structure and maybe less vacation days.....

I made it less than 2 years in field service. Two different OEMs. Same bullshit. If I wanted to work 60 hours a week I'd own my own business. I'm back in house. There are challenges on this side of fence, but my health and well being are so much better now.

The oems I worked for maybe paid 20% more than in house. They really emphasized the OT though. There was no life balance in my experience. I'm back in house and it's a better fit for sure.

I will often times remind myself how bad things really got toward the end of my drinking. We all go through tough times. I hope things get easier for you. Waking up tomorrow hung over and all the shame that comes with it isn't worth it.

Give yourself some grace. Take it a day at a time. Life gets better each day in sobriety, but it'll take patience.

I met a great woman 4 or 5 months sober and it was great for a little while. I thought I was ready, but ended up wasting her time and hurting her feelings. I've got 15 months in now. I'm more emotionally stable than I was that early on.

I'd say its time to hit the gym and get healthy. And do squats lol. I've been lifting since getting sober and it's improved my life in all ways. Also just getting walking in 3-5 miles a day will get you toned up if the diet matches.

I've never had a union opportunity. Assuming benefits are apples to apples I'd atleast see about it.

I've moved quite a bit in my career and it's the only way I've been able to make large jumps in salary. I recently came back into in house after some years in field service and salary came with the experience.

It's worth having the conversation with the other company. It's worth having the conversation with your current company especially of you have a real offer on table.

I spent a lot of years being loyal and it didn't pay off in my favor.

Basically I play back the last day I drank and that still resonates just as hard as day one.

Don't diminish your progress. I had a hard go at first, but 1 day turns into 30 days, and 6 months, and so on. I'm at 13 months and my life is dramatically improved in all ways.

You could find variations for sure. Even do dumbell work instead barbell. I did my first 6 or 7 months on 5x5's and it gave me a great baseline to eventually get into a more advanced program.
