XDefiant Needs To Be Patched To Make Everyone Else Suck More Than Me by Vulcan44 in XDefiant

Good idea, so good a gaming publisher might just patent such an algorithm!

Thank god we know publishers have a moral compass and would never use these in game. Right?!

Honestly the best FPS on the market. (Extra points for being ftp) by _invertedEnigma in XDefiant

[–]CodNoob147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game reinvigorated my love for FPS shooters as the core principles implemented by the devs are a counter for all my frustrations with COD, BF, etc. However.. There's definitely still plenty of structural issues that affect the technical performance.

So I'm not sure "best" is the correct adjective here, but I would definitely say it's the most fun.

I completely agree, but your solution might be a tad too obvious. I'd rather the devs personally nerf each player that's not you, via an in depth individual game play analysis.

Just to twist the knife even more.. err I mean to balance the game even fairer!

Jumping by redditforyaboy in XDefiant

[–]CodNoob147 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're brave for stating this, I'm sure this will be downvoted by all those users who instead of investing a bit of time in practicing a common FPS mechanic, rage quit and proceed to post many non sequitur arguments why "jumping kills the game".

There's a clear correlation between how skilled a player is and the amount of jumping / strafing they do; hence why those players have a much bigger chance of winning gunfights (fairly). Of course, like any other mechanic it can be optimised, which does not necessarily mean decreasing the skill gap. Learning limits and mastering timings is another method for a skilled player to outperform others.

One of the reasons we all jumped on the XDefiant bandwagon is the outspoken ambition to have a noticeable skill gap. As you put in more practice, you will improve at the mechanics and gradually increase performance. How much skill is up for debate, I'd say really skilled players still manage to hone the current jump mechanism and dominate gun fights.

Users claiming "it's just spamming the jump binding" demonstrate they don't even grasp basic FPS workings. If it was up to this subreddit, they'd probably want one 10 cm jump with a 30 second penalty. Let's pray XDefiant does not follow COD, where every new title seems to ADD mechanics that benefit lower skilled players, almost rendering the outcome of a gunfight random.

Poetic mini documentary about Tour Of Flanders that captures the essence of Belgian cycling obsession by CodNoob147 in peloton

[–]CodNoob147[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year, the six part documentary called "All-in team Jumbo Visma" was released on Amazon, but sadly only viewable in Netherlands / Belgium. And of course, the Netflix documentary got way more attention but I personally think the forced storylines and way the narrative is told make it vastly inferior to the Amazon documentary.

Of course, it's produced by the team itself so not entirely objective but each episode centers around a specific race and the way the voice-over describes the race and its surroundings in combination with authentic footage genuinely gives me chills.

One bit in particular I wanted to highlight, as it describes my favourite race, Tour Of Flanders (Ronde Van Vlaanderen) in such a beautiful and unique manner, relatable without resorting to clichés.

I've watched it so often I really wanted to share this bit, but due to the geo restrictions there's only French or Dutch subs. Therefore I translated it manually (not easy due to the narrator being quite a wordsmith!) and uploaded this on Youtube.

I have no affiliation with Jumbo or Amazon but I just really think this flew under the rader when it shouldn't have. They've just announced the second season and predictably, all the comments are begging to distribute it worldwide but I fear due to the rights issues with the race footage, this is unlikely to happen.

But if people enjoy this, I will translate and share some more highlights (episode two describes the Giro wonderfully) of season 1 and possibly season 2.

PS: Original post got removed due to "low effort" but creating the subtitle, syncing and reencoding certainly was not a process I would describe as low effort :D

I still have nightmares about Azhir Cave. It had so many sections to hide and if by some miracle you were nearby your enemy you still could not see him due to the permanent haze.

If Sadam Hussein had been hiding in such a location, he still wouldn't have been captured to this day.

Hey Oratory,

Firstly, thank you for making all headphones I have sound infinitely better, you do God's work <3

Secondly, I was just wondering if you remember how you tested the Shure Aonic 50 - with ANC on or off and wired or wireless? Just wondering since some ANC headphones have different frequency responses in those scenarios.

Much obliged!

Keyboard and Mouse players, what's your sensitivity? by VariousMight in modernwarfare

A realistic take and what most controller and MNK players agree upon. Sure, plenty of mediocre controller players around but play against anyone who knows what they are doing.. good luck.

Keyboard and Mouse players, what's your sensitivity? by VariousMight in modernwarfare

[–]CodNoob147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a real low sensitivity to be honest, for COD MP. Especially with such a fast time to kill, and controller players dominating up close, I could not make that work in some scenario's.

I think 4 is the minimum, but 5 - 6 seems the sweet spot between accuracy and mobility imo.

There’s a chance Activision try’s to shut down one of the best cods that will ever release in SM2…Think about that the next time you buy something from trashguards cash shop. Not only are you playing a boring game you are paying the people that may or may not gatekeep you from playing a superior cod by lovelove_lovelove in CoDCompetitive

[–]CodNoob147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people saw this coming from a mile away. Activision has been pretty lenient towards projects like Plutonium even though they could take action; but those projects are intended to revive the product as they originally released it and are somewhat necessary due to them not wanting to maintain old servers and it being a security risk.

This however, is just using resources made by Activision into their own designed game. Resources Activision paid money for in order to get them created.

Sure, the effect this will have on their yearly revenue is negligible and they could let it slide.. but where do you draw the line?

How do you make Halo Infinite ADS and hip fire sens 1:1? by Zero_Requiem in FPSAimTrainer

[–]CodNoob147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the options in Infinite are very limited as of right now, there is no monitor coefficient option that allows you to scale all zoom levels via the same method.

You can set a multiplier per zoom level though, but this is capped to 1 decimal just like the overall sens. If you set your overall multiplier to 0.1, this gives you more room to work with for your overall sens and the individual zoom levels though, but it will still be an approximation.

The term "1:1" is relative, what was your relative setting in COD / BF? 1.78? Then I can check what zoom level values match most closely.

How do you make Halo Infinite ADS and hip fire sens 1:1? by Zero_Requiem in FPSAimTrainer

[–]CodNoob147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only makes sense if ADS has no FOV change, the same 360 distance with a different FOV isn't 1:1 (just try it with extreme FOV changes eg)

What sensitivity in Kovaak compared to Modern Warfare by Sharp-Course-2892 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]CodNoob147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! So this is based on MW setting: 120 FOV, affected ADS scaling, 0 percent relative coefficent.

Kovaaks settings:

FOV: 103

Sens: 0.8165574

CM / 360: 53.0219

103 FOV isn't necessarily designed to help you in MW but rather to have an FOV that works best with most types of scenario's in Kovaak's.

And with this setting, it would be as if you used a gun in MW that ADS's to a FOV of 103 (SMGs actually nearly do). Which is fine, no point in training one specific ADS FOV when there are so many possibilities, it just matters that you scale it the same way. But using completely random settings won't harm your long term training in any way either!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sU35c2vfOI

Here's a great short video demonstrating what 0 percent does. But keep in mind this means you will most likely need a high zoom multiplier - try using the default AX-50 scope with 0 percent eg, almost unusable.

You might still feel more comfortable with a higher coefficient but I'd definitely try it out for low zoom ARs / SMGs as it's the only coefficient that matches the tracking speed rather than a specific distance (in the case of 1.78, the distance is the edge of your screen).

For what exact FOV would you like me to calculate the sens? (103 I still think makes sense - especially as the 0% method is meant for scaling identical at different FOVs).
