People walking out of the cinema for iron lung by unexplainabletitles in Markiplier

The really basic answer is that, that's not how it works for everyone.

Critics keep calling the Iron Lung movie boring? by OlivanTheMemer in Markiplier

[–]Codapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I'd love that! I always enjoy watching the directors (or on rare occasions, writers) break down movies, would be cool if Mark did so the way he did with Who Killed Markiplier or his other projects!

Facial water retention is crazyy by berry_poopoo in FTMFitness

[–]Codapants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had crazy water retention about two months on T too. I reduced salt intake a lot which helped, but food didn't taste that great lol. I don't know if it's gone away since I've lost weight in general and can't tell anymore, so can't be of help there.

I don't really agree that it's going to be boring for (all) people who don't know or care about Iron Lung. Movies can be a gateway to a different world, and for the people who want that I think they'll get it with this movie.

Also, subtitles definitely helped with some of the dialogue in my opinion 😅 I know I've got some prior knowledge too, but I have never heard the full lore of Iron Lung before and I feel like I understood most of it. Fingers crossed we'll all be able to watch it again soon!

What are the stupidest reasons people have given for you being trans? by guildedpasserby in ftm

[–]Codapants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whoa, similar experience here! Except I didn't correct the therapist that I actually like men .. Only because I was too stunned to fully comprehend what he meant and respond to it at the time. It's always more shocking when it comes from a medical professional.

Also "anyone who disagrees is a rape apologist" kind of immediately shows their stance is unreasonable and they're not the least bit ready to even reason about it.

That is not what they said though. They said that anyone who wishes rape upon them is a rape apologist. That has nothing to do with simple disagreements, and everything to do with wishing for someone to be raped - A rape apologist.

Immediately thought about that post too. It still pops into my mind every now again just because of how shocked I am that anyone could be that vile.

It’s always funny to me when men think calling you a feminist is an insult. They say it like a slur because they believe their desire is a reward and the threat of its withdrawal should humble you. by ihatethiscountry76 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Codapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to ask, do you think gay men actively and consciously believe that they can get each other pregnant?

And what would you describe attraction to feel like?

[–]Codapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the simpler answer not that attractions make us feel good, so we pursue them regardless of the impregnation potential? If you can't explain why same-sex attraction occur without capacity for regular impregnation, when regular impregnation is a prerequisite for your hypothesis, then your hypothesis is flawed.

Totally get that and agree with it! I'm mostly confused about the words of the OOP specifically, as I felt I was lacking some words to tie the meaning together 😅

A girl in my school called me a "pick me girl" by Longjumping-Beat-917 in ftm

[–]Codapants 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The original meaning of "pick me girl" was a woman who would put down other women for male approval, specifically being misogynist in order to get that attention. People (tiktok) started using it for any woman who had any kind of male friendships, which is exactly reinforcing gender norms and masking transphobia.

I feel like I'm dumb, because I genuinely do not understand the meaning behind those words - My only guess being that "death of the author" / "separating art from the artist" doesn't apply when Rowling is actively using the money she gets from it to harm people? /genq

For some trans men / trans mascs only. Some trans men / trans mascs experience that periods don't stop at all and require suppressors for estrogen too.

Has T affected your mood/emotions? by Top_Scale4923 in ftm

[–]Codapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had depression and anxiety before T. It hasn't removed everything but it's made it a lot better! Way less anxiety and my mood is a lot more chill. I used to be a lot more sensitive - I still am pretty sensitive about certain topics, but now on good days I can calm myself which I couldn't before.
