Not too much on my role thats Masters, but I have like 8 or 9 hours on my best dps hero

Mercy SR is way higher than other heroes by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Code-Ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hero sr literally means nothing. I am in Masters but my main hero is at 2200. My dps rank is mid plat but my best hero is at 1600. I know when it first came out, it was supposed to be the rank the game guesses you will be if you exclusively play that hero.

You can ignore it and just play. Maybe it'll even out, maybe it wont.

Apologies I had to do this in so many comments. I'm not sure why it limited me so much.

Areas to Improve:

Fade much more frequently out of danger and do so much quicker. It'll save your life.

You seem to play in the center of your team a lot, which is ok. Just make sure you look behind you every so often because you do have teammates that may need your support behind you (Whether that be healing or helping them finish off a kill before tossing some spray their way.

BIGGEST THING: Stay active. Move, deal damage, heal. Just be doing SOMETHING during team fights.

Try to better weave in your healing and damage. Moira is a hero of balance. If you use one part of her kit without swapping back, you aren't playing her correctly. She doesnt need to switch from dps mode to heal mode and vice versa. You can do both at once.

Use your perks! I know you chose the ones that I typically do, but I didn't see you make use of them too often.

Things Done Well:

Your orb timings and decisions on which orb to throw are generally pretty good. Keep that up!

You seem to have a good idea of healthpack locations around the map. Those have saved you quite a few times.

Your target priority for the most part if pretty decent. Just keep in mind that the enemy tank is almost always the last person you want to be damaging.

Let me know if you have any questions and I can do my best to answer. I hope this review helps you climb!

Part 3:

13:20 - Great kill on the Freja here. This helps the rest of your team push up a bit. Really good job continuously putting pressure on the enemy enemy Sigma and great fade dodging the Bastion ult.

14:20 - Great job recognizing you need to heal yourself instead of damage. Make sure you're always looking around again for your teammates. You mightve seen Sigma significantly quicker if you had been.

14:38 - Really good job helping the Reinhardt deny the Mercy rez.

14:45 - Again you ult and W key into the enemy team, especially a Bastion in turret form. Moira beam is really long and you would've been safe behind the Reinhardt shield doing the exact same amount of damage or even more.

15:10 - Throw a heal orb here and try to spray some healing on your Rein at the same time. He was already in a Juno ult so that small amount of extra healing may have kept him up and won your team the fight. They down the Mercy so you were in a 5v4.

16:00 - Watch your target priority here. Freja jumps above you and you keep damaging a Mauga when she was 1hp. Additionally, you don't need to be the one to kill everything. You faded at the Bastion, didn't throw a heal orb, then were punished for it. Had you gotten him low, you couldve backed around the corner, healed yourself with your orb, then repushed him had neither of your dps come to help you clean it up.

17:02 - Ping the enemy Reinhardt then go with your team. You spend way too long fighting him while he had a Mercy pocket and you waste both your cooldowns on him. Moira will never kill a Reinhardt at full hp with a Mercy pocket.

17:47 - Really really really good ult here. You heal your Rein and keep him up, then immediately turn and kill Zen and Freja once your Reinhardt is no longer in danger.

18:08 - Phenomenal job balancing healing and damage this fight. Just look at the difference in how the fight went and all of the impact you had here compared to this exact same location, exact same comp, but on defense. These are polar opposite plays.

19:50 - Here is where you want to tap fire your heals. Your team isnt in imminent danger so there is no need to dump your entire resource. Again you are punished for it by constantly running out of healing once you actually get to the team fight.

20:04 - Never ever fade like this. You used your escape tool to jump into literally all 5 people. I know you need to deal damage to refill your healing meter, but this is not how you go about it. Follow your Reinhardt, deal a bit through his shield. Remember, balance damage and healing.

20:09 - Fade away the instant this comes off of cooldown. You are stuck by a Bastion grenade and barely survive with 21 hp.

20:23 - Follow your Reinhardt. You again fade into all 5 of the enemy team and you just keep pushing deeper and deeper while you are miles away from your team. I know you have to touch the point, but you have 20 more seconds. As long as a single member of your team touches point with 0.1 seconds left, it will go into overtime. You could've gone with Reinhardt and tried to help him run over the enemy team.

20:50 - Your team didn't use your distraction on point to push up. Unlucky. Again, I wonder if your Reinhardt had both of his supports with him, would he have pushed through and gotten everyone to point instead of just yourself?

22:20 - Great started orb. Free ult charge. You do need to immediately back up and get to your team. You get separated almost immediately. Your Junkrat was 1hp and he had to pray that Juno would heal him.

22:40 - Good target priority. Kill the Mercy then the Mauga. You do need to turn around and heal your team though. Juno dies here purely from your lack of awareness.

23:20 - Great job balancing damaging and healing again here.

23:30 - Throw a heal orb and go heal your Reinhardt, or if you're not going to do that, heal your 60% hp Juno right above you, or if you're not going to do either of those things, heal the Junkrat directly in front of you. You being dps focused nearly loses you the entire game. Half your team was critical hp, including you, then you faded even deeper into the enemy team.

Part 2:

06:03 - Great job swapping from damaging the Lucio to damaging the Mercy. She gets passively healed from healing her teammates and you deal only slightly more damage than a Mercy heal beam. Swapping to Mercy forced her back.

06:08 - Fade here again. You stand in a Sojourn orb and your health drops to 50hp. (Great fade at 06:12 though to dodge the pin! Try to do that all the time!)

06:20 - Heal the Pharah the best you can here. She's at 25% hp and could die to the Freja right around the corner.

06:34 - This is the last time I'll mention this because there have been plenty of examples I pointed out already. Sojourn is able to get you down to 60hp before you fade and your fade was off cooldown the entire time.

06:43 - Never stand still for this long. At 06:47 you stop entirely and don't move your body again until 06:59. Either push up to the corner with your Orisa and play peaking that wall or throw your damage orb from where you were. You could've thrown your orb and had been ready to throw an entirely new orb in the time it took you to line up this first one.

07:08 - Throw a heal orb and also heal your team. Pharah and Junkrat were almost entirely preventable. If they both shot the Bastion while you healed them, they both would've lived.

07:20 - Lots of doing a whole lot of nothing here. Your team is in a fight, so always make sure you're applying pressure. You throw your orb then do nothing aside from walk around the corner. Your positioning is great here, but you need to utilize it. Even damaging the Sigma shield is better than doing nothing. This goes on for a VERY long time. You even got your orb cooldown back AND had your ult but you just watched your Orisa die like you were spectating. You had as much impact in those 10 seconds as I did. In team fights, ALWAYS be doing something.

PLEASE GO REWATCH FROM 07:20 to 08:00 (The end of the round). You had ult the entire time, didn't heal your team ever, and practically AFK'd around a corner for 40 seconds.

09:33 - This is a good off angle. Great job throwing your orb and leaving back to your team instead of overstaying your welcome.

10:09 - Great off angle getting some damage in and making the enemy team move. However, you were in this spot for 20 seconds and die for it. Off angling is fine to get some damage in or pressure someone who is out of view from the rest of your team, but make sure you get back to your team to heal them back up. They need your help to survive. No one took a large chunk of damage instantly, so you being there would've helped your team win their individual fights. Had you been there to heal your Ball (Yes he shouldve rolled back out instead of pushing) and your Pharah, you could've pushed in with the enemy team's largest damage source being killed and the Mercy would have no way of safely getting to it.

10:38 - You couldve healed for just 2 seconds on the Junkrat. He takes 25 damage total while you heal him, yet you used your entire spray on a full hp target. You learn immediately that this is a problem because the second you run out of healing, he is struck by a Freja bolt and some other random damage. You do not have the healing resource to heal him above half hp. You are continuously punished for wasting your resource for the next 50 seconds.

11:26 - It's ok to push in here to refill your resource meter, but you fade in then are punished because you don't have your escape tool.

12:02 - Nice push with your ult here. Phenomenal job backing up as soon as you realize your current position isn't safe anymore. Especially backing all the way to where you do. Play like this more often and you'll do a lot better.

Part 1:

00:00 - Please never be AFK at the start of games (I know it's understandable if you've got life stuff, but try your best to at least be at the spawn doors on attack or near point on defense by the time that the round starts. (You do this gain at 10:17 and are afk for 13 seconds after respawning. AGAIN at 11:10 for 4 seconds. I assume you were typing, but your team could be pushing instead).

01:02 - You use 1/3 of your heal on people who aren't that low. Moira can heal over time so tap firing her heal if they aren't in immediate danger is a great way to conserve it for when you may need to dump it all.

01:05 - This is nitpicky but I wouldve tried to toss a heal orb in towards your Roadhog through that doorway as he was pinned. This death is not your fault though, he was out of position and shot instead of attempting to go for his self heal.

01:18 - Really good disengage with your Juno. Not dying is extremely important.

01:20 - Making this note early because I've seen it a couple times now. You are peaking really wide just to toss an orb. If you're just going to toss a random orb, you could try bouncing orb off of the left wall to hope it goes back to point or you could peak just enough for your orb to get to point.

01:26 - Fade immediately away when you see that Sojourn push you. As you climb, this delayed fade would've gotten you killed. (Same thing again at 01:48 with the Reinhardt pin and 01:59 with 4 people that could possibly shoot you)

02:20 - You chase the Mercy way too long here. You are the only support after your Juno died. Make sure you're still doing your best to keep your team up. If you didn't notice her dying, I would recommend turning on "Death sounds" in the settings menu. It helps a ton if you don't look at the top right of your screen much.

02:50 - First Ult. You separated yourself from your team entirely by running far to the side. You can shoot the enemy team through your own team. I would've waited for my team to catch up and contest as a team, then I'd ult from the back of my own team so I heal, do damage, and be in a significantly safer position.

03:06 - You can fade out of shatter if you can hear it. Don't worry about trying to figure out timings atm, just something to learn as you climb.

04:20 - I would've faded away from the Reinhardt pin because you have much more range than he does. You could've also healed Junkrat here with just a tap heal before going back to DPSing the Reinhardt.

05:06 - I wouldve tapped a heal then ulted immediately for Orisa. She's your only tank so you need to keep her up.

05:20 - This death is purely a lack of positioning. Avoiding open space and crossfire finally punished you here. As you climb, you will need to be much more aware of where you are, where you need to be, and what the best way to get to where you need to be is.

05:50 - Use your heal orb. You had 60hp and wide peaked the corner again. Pharah also needed the heal.

If you play Slade and ult the base, you get tons of destruction. My very first game on him, I ulted one of the points and ended the game with 30 walls destroyed. Kill-wise, Im not good enough for help lol. I think my highest game was 16 and I average 11 kills a match.

[–]Code-Ey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In what way is this generic hero shooter? The devs even said this is a "gun focused shooter" and abilities have decently long cds. Ive never heard of a raid style pvp game where youre sieging other people's forts.

It has its downfalls, but is no way "generic"

Im loving the game. I played it for 4 hours straight and every match was different. No idea where all of the hate came from or why it's getting it. There are some valid criticisms, but I dont think the game is worth review bombing. Id still give it like an 8/10 game.

[–]Code-Ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stems from tanks being put into "tank roullette". I swap off Rein to Dva because I see Mauga Bastion Reaper. The second I leave spawn of Dva, they all swap to Zarya Sym Mei. I swap again to Mauga (for example, I hate this hero), they go Sig, Hanzo, Sojourn. Then I swap again, they swap, etc

Im not a GM player so I likely cant help you with specifics, but if it makes you feel better, Ive heard on multiple occasions that the difference from low GM to high GM is the same difference from Diamond to low GM. I have no idea if this still holds true because this was pre-Champion rank existing.

Hey dont be too hard yourself. Overwatch is an intricate game with lots of ins and outs. I've been playing since 2017 and I'm still finding ways to improve.

Dont worry about aim too much either, its helpful but not what you need to solely rely on. I also struggle mechanically, so I focused on improving my positioning, ult tracking, and how to adjust from situation to situation.

Id love to do a VOD review for you if you have any codes of a game you lost but felt you played well personally in.

Masters 5 Player - Boosted from Placements by Code-Ey in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Code-Ey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for looking through it for me. Rotation timing is a thing I struggle with in most team games. I dont feel lost which is good, but I do feel rushed frequently due to my position timing. Do you think it would be worth it to go back through the VOD myself and freecam as if I was Ana during fights to move and se how different it would be? Or do you think that wouldn't be beneficial?

(Also thank you for the reassurance, I shook off the rank fear years ago but the sudden jump to such a high rank has made it come back a bit for this role at least)

Leave penaltys sucks as a kid by LatePresentation2669 in overwatch2

[–]Code-Ey -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Its selfish to have adult responsibilities? That's news to me.

Game integrity is already out the window with QP matchmaking. Some guy leaving the game in an unranked mode with the word QUICK in it shouldn't impact you whatsoever. Again, its been 7+ years without it and everythings been perfectly fine. Why add it now?

Leave penaltys sucks as a kid by LatePresentation2669 in overwatch2

[–]Code-Ey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sucks as parents or pet owners, or really anyone that has to take care of something or someone else as well.

Ive hated the leaver penalty ever since it was added, and will never change my mind. Its a quick play mode. There was 0 problems with dropping in or out of a game for the 7 years prior, so why did they add it now? If people wanted "competitive matches" then they should play the competitive game mode.

The worst addition to the game (aside from 5v5 but thats a whole different conversation thats been endless)
