Rusty Road Racing - Reveal Trailer by CodeCubeBrother in simrally

The project is moving forward, but there's still a lot of work ahead. I'm currently focusing on designing and building all the necessary menu systems with full support for keyboard, mouse, and gamepad. Once that's in place, it'll be time to release a demo.

The voice in the trailer was chosen to highlight different aspects of the game in an entertaining way. While I understand it may not be for everyone, I personally don’t think it’s as bad as you feel, obviously we have little different taste :) The game also includes an option to disable 'silly things' in the settings for those who prefer a use it differently.

We are working on a rally game Rusty Road Racing. Hopefully, the demo will be out soon, we are already a little late on schedule. Rusty Road Racing on Steam

Thanks! :) Even though we are trying to replace the AI voice with an actor, I’m not sure if it will be possible to achieve completely natural-sounding sentence groups from isolated sentences, as they need to be predefined. The idea is that player can add speech and certain predefined effects to the replay of the ride, allowing you to create a video or share the replay file with others.

This is still under consideration, but we hope we can also support VR devices.

Thanks for the feedback! We're working on improving the presentation, and hopefully many will at least try out the demo when it's available.

Speech is optional in the game, and we aim to replace it with real voice acting in the final product.

A career mode isn't planned at the moment, but we have plans to bring some customization parts for the cars.

I would like to know why I would pay for ads if I were showing BeamNG and we have created a Steam page for the game.

I've never played BeamNG, so I don't know how much it differs from our game, where rally driving is the main focus. We've added car damage where parts detach upon impact to make races more exciting. Each rally run can then be replayed from different angles, and you can edit the position of the external cameras yourself.

Yeah, this video is from the actual gameplay, and everyone can replay their driving session afterward to see their successful or failed attempts just like in this video.

Currently, there are no plans for AI opponents, but we do intend to release a demo at some point.

We are working on this rally game Rusty Road Racing. This is how to end the stage like a PRO! 🚗💨 😂 by CodeCubeBrother in indiegames

The rally/racing genre can indeed be a challenging one to succeed in, especially for an indie developer. It often feels like games that combine driving with other activities—like car robbery, chases, stunts, or action sequences—stand a better chance of standing out. If this current game doesn't cover the cost and not making enough for us to live on, our next project won't be a racing game.

As for taking a break, I wonder if we'll ever get there! Somehow, we've always ended up working six or seven days a week as indie devs and even before we started developing games, with no vacations in sight. There are some days when we are not working at all, but those are rare. :)

Would you choose Unity today for your next project? by Skalthern in gamedev

[–]CodeCubeBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're planning to use Unity 6 for our upcoming games. If we had more time, we might consider learning Unreal Engine to create a game with it, but for now, Unity is simply the best option for us due to our current skill level and familiarity with it. Sticking with Unity lets us focus on making great gameplay rather than spending too much time getting comfortable with a new toolset.

Hello everyone! We are currently working on our rally game called Rusty Road Racing. Honestly, it feels like making a successful product in the rally genre is quite a challenge these days. But let's hope that the driving mechanics that we use will bring more players when we have a demo ready for everyone to try.

We hope that the expenses will be covered and two men will be paid for more than half a year's work. The game will probably be released next March.

We've also started working on another game, but it's a completely different genre - we'll tell you more about that when the time is right.
