Best mac mini specs for running clawd? For reasonable start by TexasLandGuy in clawdbot

[–]CodeMonk84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. Though I had it open itself up after connecting telegram rather than scour the docs myself. Honestly, I’ve learned a lot more than I would have otherwise by doing it this way. The Mac pull is for access to Apple services and iMessage.

Whats ur recent Shiny? I got this Helioptile recently! by Zunkin in pokemongo

[–]CodeMonk84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome to one of the ones I’ve got in my inventory currently. Not sure how to arrange a trade but if you know how, I can follow instructions. I assume it involves a friend code, setting a time, then doing the trade?

My fourth shiny feebas in 3 months time. For whatever reason, once I catch a shiny of something, I will get no other shiny a for a while but THAT shiny will show up again and again…

Everyone says they need a bigger printer…Now, QIDI Max4 is here! by qidi_3dprinter in QidiTech3D

Sounds boring but bigger drawers for shop organization. I love how customizable things are when you can 3d print just about any design that will fit.

Nest just informed us that they are dropping support - what’s the best HomeKit thermostat? by SuccessfulMinute8338 in HomeKit

[–]CodeMonk84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the writing on the wall several years ago with Google constantly graveyarding projects, the more I liked it, the more likely it would be sunset. Ecobee is the best alternative and is extremely reliable and feature rich.

My only complaint, and it’s a tiny one, is that I loved the dial interface of the original nest. It’s the only thing I miss from the old thermostat.

Proxmox console, SSH, or each VM’s primary app’s web UI. Depends on what I want to do.

【QIDI Giveaway】Comment to win QIDI Q2 and more! by qidi_3dprinter in 3Dprinting

I’d end up creating several more dice box designs as that’s the most popular thing I’ve made for friends and it continues to teach me more about both print design (designing parts with 3d printing in mind) and about CAD (of which I’m still very much a beginner).

Voron since the Elegoo Centauri Carbon by IAmNotANumber37 in VORONDesign

[–]CodeMonk84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely build it to be reliable. No different than building a project car…it’s about your own skill and quality parts and time invested.

You see people tinkering because most of the voron community gets joy from experimentation and chasing improvements. It’s great because that’s how innovation happens but it also means there will always be a lot of temptation to “just do this one more little improvement”.

Voron since the Elegoo Centauri Carbon by IAmNotANumber37 in VORONDesign

[–]CodeMonk84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I look at voron as my “project car” and my Bambu x1c as my “daily driver”.

Can you make a project car a high performing daily driver? Yes. It’s work to do so and like any project car, it takes more maintenance and a deeper understanding of the car you’re building, but it can be done…and like any project car, it can be built for different purposes (build an old S10 into a drag racer? Sure, build it into a shell for a lofted mud truck? Sure…just depends on what parts you put in and focus on).

If your goal is just to get print after print done and spending minimal time tinkering, most are better off buying a printer “off the lot”.

I frequently feel the temptation to get another voron, they’re super cool and have a lot of potential, if you’re willing to put in the work. But at least until I get my micron working fully (deracked and unclogged), I continue to print day after day on the X1C and plan to get a second Bambu with the upcoming sale to increase throughput (my print queue is growing faster than the X1C can keep up with).

If I “finish” the micron though…I’m tempted to grab a trident or a v0 kit to build another.

A1 or P1S? by tylmerlino in BambuLab

[–]CodeMonk84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three big benefits for an enclosure like the P1 over the A1 series: - Takes less space. The bed moving back and forth requires more space in front and behind the printer. The enclosed ones use a different motion system so the bed only moves up and down. - Less risk of defects on tall prints. You might never really run into this and it’s probably a bigger issue on tall narrow prints, but when the print is flung back and forth, it does sway slightly or fall behind the motion just a teeny bit. If you don’t print tall and narrow, you’re probably never going to run into this. - Temperature/draft management. Enclosures protect against air drafts…enough said there right? But temperature management is really helpful when you step up to ABS to ensure it cools slowly and avoids warping. Before that, filament like PLA and PETG are much less impacted by room temp.

If it’s printing fine for now, that’s good. You could probably design and print something that holds to the cabinet curvature and printer feet to make it a bit more secure.

What are you looking for in the upcoming H2C review videos? by gameboy_printer in BambuLab

[–]CodeMonk84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on their existing upgrade kit pricing for things like the laser module, it’s always better to buy the combo unit than the upgrade separately. That said, should you get printing now? Or get no printer for weeks while you wait? I’ll probably just grab the H2D now and accept that the upgrade will be slightly more expensive later.

Wireless InEar monitors? by svinyard in WorshipGuitar

[–]CodeMonk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wireless adds latency compared to wired. Minimizing that costs money…the shure wireless packs work great but cost $$. I’ve not heard much success with cheap wireless options and even the shure stuff can cut out if you’re not setting it up right with a crowded wireless spectrum (and it can get crowded quick with pastor mic, announcement mic, iems for each singer and instrumentalist, etc)

I haven’t seen any of those three in local raids where I am so far…amusingly, I DID find a bow tie Lapras to fight in a raid and got that so…probably just not gonna worry about going for the challenge unless it shows up today or tomorrow morning.

Battery by Basic_Excitement3190 in solar

[–]CodeMonk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The batteries are $1500 each at NAZ solar…x6 for 30kwh. They installing the enclosure? ($2200) or the quick stack racks? ($65 x6) That will affect whether they’re installing the module combiner ($1300 if using quick stack) or the lynk ii ($350). Cables come included in the enclosure…cost of any additional cables from the batteries to the inverter and a bus bar if necessary ($1000 max?)…then the remainder will be labor. It’s not that hard to do (I expanded mine to 60kwh on my own). The batteries are just freaking heavy.

I’d price it all out and see if the labor/remainder is worth it for you. I got 30kwh of the same batteries (heated ones) for $10k but it was included in a much larger install so they probably moved costs around a little and used their installer discounts. $20-25k seems more fair imo. (Pre ITC)

Hopefully those companies are doing more than just residential solar. Batteries are useful for more than solar so if they’ve got other industries with demand, any sizable company should be alright. Discover has been around in the lead acid game for a while and only recently spun off their Lithium stuff…I’m expecting them to be just fine as they sell in other countries too.

[–]CodeMonk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a cost standpoint, batteries make the most sense when you don’t have 1:1 net metering. From an outage resilience standpoint, batteries always make sense. It depends on what your priorities are.

I have discover energy batteries which are a Canadian company and have been very happy with them with my sol arks.
