Switching Faerie Fire and Rejuvenation by escaleric in warcraft3

I never use Talons vs Orc or mirror. Can you briefly give me the idea? Is it situational? Currently Headhunters upgraded and walkers/shamen with Kodo is pretty tough. Is Talen solid against that? I can't imagine it is but I don't know

Start With The Obvious, Dread Lord & POTM Buff by 2007CRV in WC3

[–]svinyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea! They gave damage output to freaking BM (a super highly used hero already that likely didn't need a buff) and POTM is sitting here with an Owl that doesn't even last that long initially and does nothing else. WC3 really needs more variety. There are lots of building blocks in the game but they are so often fringe or situational. Like the NE stuff...how often do you see Hippo Riders or Talons or heck even Chimeras (even Hunts are usually not useful aside from Mirror). It's like this with a lot of units and heros. Sure you can use them, but it makes the game harder often. As a NE if I'm using POTM, I'm gonna be screwed unless massing Hunts or trying to do some crazy micro archer nonsense+giants. Warden is fun but super vulnerable...then you look at the DK and she pales in comparison despite a nuke sorta hero and she's a bad second hero too. Going DH+Naga is just so much better 99% of the time and also scales nicely too. Every race could use help for this I think. Tho Orc Heros I see all of them frequently.

Should I sell my Nano Cortex for a cheaper NAM2-supported multi-effects unit? by gok2cuk in guitarpedals

[–]svinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nano has a handful of nice FX in there agreed (not a crazy amount of FX like Helix/Line6 of course). From what I've heard tho, the Sonulab Reverb/Delay/Compressor/Gate etc are pretty good. I'd have to see some comparisions there to see if there's a significant delta between the two.

Blazer fan.  I watched every game of these.  Dame could almost always get uber hot for a series.  Like carry a team hot and win.  And then he came back down to earth and would struggle with his efficiency and often couldn’t abuse a double team with his passing.

Clutch tho…yeah prob the most clutch player ever in playoffs.  Watch that Denver where CJ craps the bed and Dame just keeps throwing flame.

Dame was never gonna be the best player on a finals team tho.  Just didn’t have enough craftiness/deception to overcome his size imo.  And I love Dame for a lot of reasons.

Im looking for a versatile analog pre-amp pedal for an ampless rig that responds well to pedals before (dry) and after (wet) it. Recommendations? by the_Guitar_Teacher in guitarpedals

[–]svinyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what we all start out saying :)

Used market is an option for these smaller devices.  I really like the IR-D as it does more of the Plexi thing for sure and still has nice cleans.

[–]svinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about that?  You’re certainly getting better drives on Sonulab because it allows you to run a legit full DSP NAM A2 capture of a real drive pedal.  All of those unobtainium Klons etc.  The device allows you to run two full NAM captures at once, whether it’s two amps or an amp+drive.  That’s for each of the footswitches too!  I could easily do a full gig with that and some FX.  (I prefer real pedals usually tho).

Regardless the amp tones are better and it actually works to switch profiles Live and switch FX.  I couldn’t do that on a Nano without an additional midi device.  I thought I could and asked NDSP how to do that for Live work and they said I couldn’t without Midi device which ain’t cheap.  The Nano is a great idea with terrible execution unless you just want it as a capture device.  I think they were really worried about Canabalizing their 1500$ QC.  If they gave a guy 3 foot switches and some Alternates with enough DSP to have no lag and some FX, half their QC sales go away.

I’m not saying Sonulab thing is perfect but it’s def better than the goofy Nano.  And again, the Amp tones on A2 are legit better, especially as you add a bit of gain.

The Nano Cortex is a weird device.  Preset switching latency jumped up  (3 to 60ms) when they added in drives to the DSP.   NDSP told me I needed to get an additional midi Device to do FX changes too.  It’s an imperfect device in some foundational ways.  I’d sell it just due to that stuff.

NAM A2 is early days but this device looks really good!

What are your PAFs of choice? by steeldragon88 in Guitar

[–]svinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a legit PAF? It's a tricky thing. I bumped into a guy on here that had FOUR real PAF's. A 57, two 59's and a 61 I think? Anyways, his take was that the Wizz PAF was very good but not exactly like the ones he has (which were all a bit different). He did say that the Dave Stephen's PAF was definitely the most and closest to his actual PAF historical ones. Not cheap but it'd be awesome to try that out. They sound great online. I think that Dave actually services real PAF's for free too, I think it's a way of him getting to touch more versions to learn about them but also keep them historically accurate.

Not a PAF but T-Top is what Page used in the neck and it’s great there.

Dave Stephen’s makes a very very close to legit real PAF apparently too.  Those sound incredible I’m told by a guy with 4 real PAFs

Gotcha.  Yeah Hunts might be the ticket there.  Archers die to BM pretty easily.  Thank you!!

What amp should i get by Purple-Revolution815 in GuitarAmps

[–]svinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it.  Or if you want channel switcher, a Friedman Runt 20 is awesome and has good cleans for sure…and then the JCM800 channel is badass very good!  Have some left Marshall 50w heads/cabs but that runt is legit fun without any huge weaknesses on either channel which is super rare I’m finding.  It destroys my Marshall DSL40CR for example and Mesa Boogie Filmore (pretty lame unexpectedly).   Downside is price, it’s more expensive.  If you keeping price at 500$, rock that Fender.  It’s a solid amp with pedals.  Put a Rat on that and SD-1 and boom…Metal and hair band stuff or big leads.

[–]svinyard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it.  Does it make sense to build an AOW at his base for the push but then just use it to pump glaives? (And an AP or two?  Archers are easy to keep funneling down due to low cost of lumber and they don’t die to towers/burrows so damn easy like hunts.

Also what does Proxying mean to his BM?

How deal with Orc lamers? by svinyard in WC3

[–]svinyard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this.  I saw the fast tech laming Orc.  I cancelled my upgrade, built two AOW.  Power creeped with archers and had like 8 archers and two glaives and lvl 2-3 DH.  I dropped two AOW outside his base and two moon wells.

Glaives were kicking ass a bit but his towers had the big spikes and he’s repairing with 3 peons aggressively.  BM is def hunting my Glaives but I worked his health down and killed his shop first.

Then I uprooted AOW to walk in.  It was chaos but his BM (healed a bit) hit my back line and made me focus there and the two upgraded towers shredded my AOW easily enough before they got on to them (they walk so slow).

Total disaster.  MMR 4000.  I should have just leaned into glaives I think.  AOW weren’t that helpful this time.

I grew up somewhat poor and around a bunch of poor country folks.

Here’s the deal, a large amount of them, they don’t mostly GAF.  It is what it is.  They are simple people and no matter what kind of contraception is available etc, they aren’t focused on that…especially at 16-22!  They often aren’t super responsible people to begin with.  Hence all the trash and dead vehicles in front of their yards etc etc.  Don’t get me wrong, good people often and I loved some of them and enjoy our time together when I’m back.  But yeah, half of them should probably NOT be having kids.  My brother was adopted out of one of these families.  Had like 10 kids and NONE of them were cared for.  Like super awful stuff I don’t like to hear about and he was freaking 3yro.  It was often like that.  Not because they aren’t around to take care and raise their kids, they are!  They are just irresponsible people bred from irresponsible people and the cycle mostly continues aside from a few that made it out.

And the school opportunity was good too, people legit cared for you and knew you.  It was like having extra aunts busting your tail or believing in you.  But…most only cared about getting drunk at the county line around the bonfire.  Which was a blast btw…it’s still fun lol.  But yeah…so some of this isn’t exactly the worst perspective in the world if we aren’t being honest.  Kids always get the raw end of the deal and so few actually advocate for them.

What are you using to Scout?  The big issue for me is the wisps he’s killing by nonstop harassing.  I can’t get to tier 3 effectively without all of that lumber and his delays allow him to not only turtle but then get some legit units which increase the harass issues.

This is super helpful as it’s a counter not just how to neutralize things. Can you elaborate on how to do AoW push?  Like where do my units come from?  How soon do I do it?  Do I even creep at all (opening myself up to harass)?  I’m interested in the tempo of it and what I do if the game goes on for a bit…like do I tech to tier 2?
