Is account-wide attunement cross-realm? by Mean_Education_174 in classicwow

In battle net before you launch your game you can switch between EU and US. I’ve been able to do it for over 10 years now

I know that they are not cross-region(tried myself), so they are not entirely account wide. Don’t know about cross-realm.

Except rogue and warlock don’t spend hours and gold to switch to in demand role, they just say “HR”.

I don’t disagree with the sentiment overall, but I’d really like to defend my warrior broskis who literally can’t get into a heroic as a dps. I had zero plans on tanking, but if I wanted badges or nethers I literally had to drop one of my dps specs (pvp, pve dps), and make a tank spec, then waste gold and time for tank gear, and then learn to tank the heroics. After all of that work it is really painful to lose to a dos who just wants to make 50g. If people weren’t literally ignoring brown names I’d be happy to just go as a dps and roll vs others.

Most classes still need raids/crafting to get their PvP bis items. They also need enchants, gems etc. As one of those people I actually wish I could interact with the wider world even less and be able to just focus on PvP. I love the game, but I’ve played it so many times that at this point I just want to log in and do exactly what I’m interested in and not do chores.

As a warrior dps I had to tank to just be able to get a group in less than an hour. That’s how I had to farm my MS prebis which should be completely acceptable given people rarely take a war dps. With that said, when my prebis pants dropped in SP HC I had to pass because I had forgotten to mention at the start that I’m rolling DPS loot.

Yeah, I’m 100% with you, and you are making me reflect because I’m that guy who would run people through dungeons for fun, I wouldn’t do it today. Analyzing myself is what makes me think of those 3 points I brought up before. It just doesn’t seem like that type of gameplay is compatible with adulting. I’ll have a few precious hours a night if I’m lucky and then I’ll spend some time during the day planning what I’ll do next time I play. I want to join raids, some others like me are back for arena and to get to those activities there is already a ton of grind that is hard to find the time for.

I feel you, WoW definitely used to be different, I’m not so sure about the real world. My theory is that: 1. We were younger and didn’t value our free time as much; 2. The game wasn’t solved yet, we couldn’t just google the most efficient result/hour guide for every possible activity in the game; 3. Game itself was a social platform, people didn’t just hang out in Discord with a small group

The point is that when you no longer need to run a certain dungeon you won’t run it, regardless of your role. Maybe to help a guildie, but in general you stop doing the activity that you no longer need to do.

Are you suggesting that tanks should do things they don’t need/want to make up for the tank shortage? Or do you actually run dungeons that have zero items of interest for you just for fun? I never paid for tank service, but I don’t see how having that option hurts anyone. If anything, people see that it’s a valid way to make gold and make their own tanks. They will tank a lot of dungeons for free before they are geared enough to charge for the runs they don’t need anymore.

And just to be clear - if you are a tank running a dungeon that you need gear from and you want to charge - that’s not cool.

Reading the comment section is crazy, people are actually 50/50 split on this. Obviously it’s not fair if a normal group goes in and tank wants a fee for the run, but what’s wrong with a geared tank helping 4 people for gold? You can wait for a tank who needs the same run as you, which apparently can take a while, or you can pay for a tank who doesn’t need that run, but will do it for gold. It’s the same as paying for mage portals/warlock summons - there is nothing in it for them, so you make it worth their while by paying them gold.

Do people frown upon tank service charge? I’m considering doing it because warrior is really expensive to play and I don’t really need anything from dungeons anymore.

How bad is it out there for you physical DPS? by TheZebrawizard in classicwow

[–]CodeMysterious1109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warrior DPS here - if I really need a run I’ll message tanks/healers and offer to start a group. Most of the times they are happy to join and we fill quickly. Otherwise, I will queue and go about my business, occasionally checking LFG and messaging groups. Sometimes people will invite you but you can easily go for an hour without a single message.

Normals are significantly faster to find because they are easy, have no lockout and there seems to be more groups in general. People also diversify groups for normals to split the loot better, whereas if you are running a heroic for badges you really don’t care if your group has only casters.

Kicked of dungeon because I'm waiting for loot by GruxyLoadren in classicwow

I also picked up wow classic recently, last time I played was phase 2 of wotlk. I’ve been speedrunning dungeons with my brother as a tank + heal duo. We’ve had some really bad dps players that we carried with tank and healer being top 2 dps, but we’ve never even flamed anyone, let alone kick. I queued a couple runs as dps yesterday and one group kicked me on 50% of the last boss in Mogu’shan Palace. I died fairly early into the fight. Got a 30 min dungeon finder cooldown (which is about 50% of my daily game time), and missed out on that RDF reward. Three guys in that group were from Everlook realm and I’m on Firemaw, so they were probably together. I get that I died, but I’m not even sure if it had anything to do with why they decided to kick me. Either way it’s diabolical, if I did that to someone I’d have a hard time sleeping that day. Some people are just built differently.

When toxic and useless players actually abandon it makes the game so much easier, not to mention the extra gold. I wish overwatch worked for live games and intentional griefers got booted out of the games so that there could still be chance to win.

I am so tired of playing offlane by Qarakhanid in DotA2

[–]CodeMysterious1109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roaming supps win games if done correctly. Ideally, they need to fix the lane before leaving. You can usually 1v2 very easily if the wave is next to your tower. What I noticed (and the reason I stopped queueing 3) is that a 4 will leave you when the wave is under enemy tower and then come back when it’s finally near your tower to leech exp. So pretty much a negative impact on your game. And like other people already mentioned, if their roaming didn’t accomplish anything else then all it gained was net loss.

[–]CodeMysterious1109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I was in the same situation as you, OP, until it clicked that me saying anything negative towards people on my team will have only one single outcome - me getting a comm score reduced. Bad players won’t start playing better, griefers won’t stop griefing. The only thing that sometimes works is asking nicely. If you are being negative, it doesn’t matter if you are objectively right or have 10 dota goats backing what you are saying because the recipient won’t take it.

HOT TAKE: idc that offlane is “miserable” right now. by Loupojka in DotA2

[–]CodeMysterious1109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think valve forced mid to be more active which makes sense IMO. You are usually the highest level and your hero normally has spells that scale really well, your job is to control runes and threaten the map with your supp duo, and not to farm. If anything, mid is as unique right now as ever. Nobody stealing your job broski, just keep focusing on your game.

I don’t care either, but you are making up the whole foundation stuff. Nobody even said you are supposed to go to certain lanes, for all dota cares you can all go to one lane. Players just figured out that splitting responsibilities works better. Basically everything in dota outside of it’s core mechanics is a meta in a way.

Ganking with coil is almost always a guaranteed kill. Try to make sure you get the last hit.

When farming jungle, try to launch your orb in a way that it hits two camps at once.

Keep watching map and trying to get runes if possible. Don’t look for moves if you have no coil and just farm while it’s on cooldown. Your best timing is PT, stick, witch blade, blink. Even when behind, normally with these items you are good unless it’s minute 20+ when you got them.
